1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is one thing you’re specific about your doll choices?

    1. There has to be an air of tragedy!

    2. I have to be absolutely head over heels for them. A lot of people try to complete series or buy things because they’re new or popular or limited edition, and I can feel myself falling down that hole from time to time, so I always have to stop and ask myself if I really want it or if I’m just getting swept up in the excitement of shiny new things. Usually it’s the latter and I force myself to let go.

    3. I like dolls to look "dolly" over human for proportions. For adult character bodies I like either curvy with shapely arms and legs or very stylized and cartoony. Though most of my current dolls are children and they have cute chubby bodies. I prefer big heads with rounded features over realistic features.

For reference I collect mostly Fairyland but I also like Doll Chateau, Clockwork Faery, and ComiBaby Doll. :chibi

    4. Personally, I like somewhere in between anime and realistic. Not to say I might not dip to one side or the other a bit, but I'm usually somewhere in between. I also have a story world in which my dolls are set, so they absolutely have to fit into the setting.

    5. Nipples. Maybe a weird thing but I really don't like the sort of really obvious peaked ones that you see on Popovy dolls or others of a similar style.

If I'm paying that much for a doll I really don't want to be seeing doll nipples in every outfit or having to literally sand them off.

    6. I've become increasingly partial to creature style or non standard bodies and sculpts. Horns, extra eyes, fangs, centaur or otherwise creature based bodies! I'm way more likely to fall in love with a doll if it has really unique features.

    7. I adore a smiling or expressive face. Ive tried with sort of 'blank' face dolls before and if i don't feel i can make them expressive with a face up its a no go for me no matter how pretty a doll is

    8. I was always choosing such different from each other dolls that it took me some time to figure out what I was looking most when choosing... it was noses and hands :whee:
With hands of course there is often a way to get different ones, but with faces, if I did not particularly like the nose, I would not get it, and quite a few of my dolls I chose specifically because I adored their distinctive noses haha - that's probably the biggest reason I stay away from anime-styled dolls, as they normally have very small, subtle noses.

    9. Whether he looks good with faceup :XD: but most importantly, I look at their eyes and nose. 2 years in this hobby has made me realised that Im not into droppy eyes (?) Took me 2 doll heads to realise that. In the end, I sold them off :atremblin

    10. Ideally I like my dolls' characters to have very similarly styled sculpts if theyre part of the same story/universe; ie not wanting to have a luts doll and then a doll chateau for characters in the same world. I'm absolutely fine having differently styled dolls in my collections but if they're "interacting" I want them to look similar enough!

    11. For me, it's not just that a doll has to be double-jointed in the arms and legs, but they also HAVE to have a chest joint. For instance, I love the Delf Boy Type 4 body aesthetically, for instance, but I could never own one because it lacks a joint at the chest, even though I love Luts head molds :pout:

    12. Before I decide to buy a doll, I always think specifically about how they'll fit in with the rest of my collection, but also like to make sure I'll be able to style them to be distinct from my other dolls. Ideally, I like for there to be something sentimental or meaningful about the purchase too. For instance, earlier this year, I had the opportunity to get a Volks Sweet Dream Mimi from the same person I bought my YoTenshi Yuki from - so they could be sisters! ^_^

    13. Human, they have to be human. I don't have fantasy dolls. I have one boy with removable fox ears, but he's human with the ears off. No elves. no animal mixes, no weird morphed bodies, just human. I do have BJD pets but it's not the same thing.

I just like the idea of having an army of little humans.

    14. I'm not sure what it is for me, maybe just loving the face and the doll in general. I have worked out that more realistic body proportions are my preference. I don't love very thin dolls. They also have to fit with my little collection size wise.

    15. the most important part might be it should be easy for me to buy them accessories.

    16. I think all my dolls are very different from each other... but the one consistent factor is that when I saw them, I fell in love with them. I see a lot of dolls that are very pretty/nice, but the ones I have wowed me. I broke this rule one time, and now I have a Volks DDdY that is kind of an experimental doll. I re-do her face up every month or two and redo her body blushing and stuff frequently to practice... but I don't know if I've truly bonded with her at all.

    17. I don’t see myself buying a doll smaller than the average sd size. Besides that I don’t really have any preferences

    18. Diversity. When I first joined the hobby, I had a tendency to stick to dolls from similar companies, the same resin colors, largely human, etc. After rejoining the hobby after many years of absence, I've decided I really, really want to branch out and have a more diverse doll family. I want to have fantasy dolls, dolls of all kinds of resin colors, and dolls of different sizes. To kick off that promise I got a fantasy doll with horns in white skin, something I never would have done before, and I love her to pieces! :aheartbea

    19. I usually go for mature male sculpts that fit a drawing. More often than not, I draw my characters and since I tend to draw mature men that look like they came straight out of a Chinese fantasy drama, I look for dolls that have a similar appearance.
