1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is the longest time you've spent hunting for a doll?

Apr 19, 2012

    1. Have you ever had to hunt down a doll (doesn't have to be limited edition, can be discontinued or otherwise rare)?

All the dolls I own, save for my IH Kamau and Esthy Peroth, I had to hunt down. Some were relatively easy (my K-ss), others were pretty hard (my Williams).

If so, what is the longest you've had to wait and why (whether it was for it to show up at all, or if you had lack of funds when the doll turned up etc.)?
The longest wait is the one I'm currently still hunting for. He was sold out in 2005 and I've wanted to own him ever since I joined this hobyy. In all the six years I've been looking for a Kanon Louis, I've never once saw him in the marketplace. I did find his sister twice, but I prefer Louis' face.

Bonus points: What doll were you waiting for?

      Elfdoll K-ss
      Gomidoll Iru-HS
      Volks Madoka
      Volks Sweet Dream Lucas
      Volks Williams

And now I'm still searching for a Kanon Louis and a Dive Seimei.

    2. Thus far, I've been pretty lucky. When I first discovered Fairyland, I fell in love with Roke. But then I saw he was limited as a fullset and I'd missed out on him. I spent merely a couple months looking before I was able to find a fullset and buy him. I was really very fortunate!

On the other hand, I really want an Idealian York from Soom, and no one appears to be selling. Also makes me want to kick myself, because there were tons being sold last fall on Den of Angels, but I hadn't heard of him at that point. Now there aren't any around at all. =( He's my grail baby. I have a 'seeking to buy' thread but so far, no luck.

    3. the longest one...maybe one year..
But before I become a player...it has been six years until my first BJD doll came home

    4. Have you ever had to hunt down a doll (doesn't have to be limited edition, can be discontinued or otherwise rare)? When I discovered this hobby in 2003 I found a picture of Hypermaniac dolls and I wanted an Elliot so badly, but Hypermaniac didn't sell their dolls outside of Korea by then T_T and Elliot was already discontinued.

If so, what is the longest you've had to wait and why (whether it was for it to show up at all, or if you had lack of funds when the doll turned up etc.)? I waited 5 years until I found an Hypermaniac Elliot!! xD

I've had another long waits of several years, like for my Volks Anais/Tae and my F16 because I couldn't afford them at the beginning... but I can be very patient.

    5. I've been off and on hunting for a doll for about two months now XD

    6. I've wanted a Lusis for a few years now, still haven't acquired one!

    7. Have you ever had to hunt down a doll (doesn't have to be limited edition, can be discontinued or otherwise rare)?
      yes

If so, what is the longest you've had to wait and why (whether it was for it to show up at all, or if you had lack of funds when the doll turned up etc.)?
4+ years now and still searching.
I did find one a few years ago and had enough saved up for her but my mom wouldn't let me buy her and then soon after the seller decided not to sell her. Then a few months after that someone PMed me to ask if I wanted to buy theirs but by that time I didn't have the money anymore :sigh

Bonus points: What doll were you waiting for?
YoSD Megu (the 2008 original release with all her default items)

    8. I spent about three years sort-of casually looking for a normal skin CP Elf Lishe to replace the BW one I sold on... I've spent about the same amount of time looking for a tanned El, but haven't found him yet.

My longest search was for my Volks SeiRei Sakaki, though... I hunted for one of those off-and-on for something like five years before I finally lucked up on Tal, who was adopted from a friend of a friend.

    9. Have you ever had to hunt down a doll (doesn't have to be limited edition, can be discontinued or otherwise rare)?

      Yes, many times.

If so, what is the longest you've had to wait and why (whether it was for it to show up at all, or if you had lack of funds when the doll turned up etc.)?

      NINE YEARS!
In 2003, I begged someone to help me buy a Hypermaniac at the time when they were not sold outside of Korea and you could NOT resell (or risk being banned from ever buying another).
Then I had to choose: Rui or Sirang. Due to not having any 'dreaming' dolls at the time, I chose Rui. I still have her and have loved her since 2003. However, I always was so sad I was unable to get Sirang as well. I kept looking and kept looking. I was always either too slow to find one on the MP or they were outside my price range. I very recently was able to bring home Sirang from the MP and I just love her so much! I couldn't even bear to be parted with her to send her out for faceup for a month!

Bonus points: What doll were you waiting for?

      Hypermaniac Sirang - 2003

    10. Have you ever had to hunt down a doll (doesn't have to be limited edition, can be discontinued or otherwise rare)?

      Yes, once.

If so, what is the longest you've had to wait and why (whether it was for it to show up at all, or if you had lack of funds when the doll turned up etc.)?

      I could never find one!

Bonus points: What doll were you waiting for?

Volks SDC Miko with default faceup

    11. Oh my god.

      I'm the definition of a hunter :)

I waited nine years to find the perfect f-21. I've wanted a Hypermaniac for about 11 years and finally found a Sirang which I'm in love with.

hmm.. for my others once I was on the scent, I would track them down within about six months time.

    12. Took me 5 years to track down my Volks F-32. She's Sato FCS only and not very popular so pretty hard to find. It was totally worth it though! She's my grail & I absolutely love her.

    13. I'm hunting floor Vesuvia 4 years. Actually, I'm bad hunter, always skip company events and supply on second hand market :D anyway, someday she will be mine

    14. I'm the least patient "hunter," personally...

Have you ever had to hunt down a doll (doesn't have to be limited edition, can be discontinued or otherwise rare)?
Yes, I had a discontinued one I was searching for last year. It was a sculpt that had been quite popular when I entered the hobby, but once I actually wanted one, he became quite difficult to turn up, since he'd been unavailable for quite some time!

If so, what is the longest you've had to wait and why (whether it was for it to show up at all, or if you had lack of funds when the doll turned up etc.)?
Only a few months. :sweat I was talking about the search with some other members, which resulted in a somewhat damaged practice head in the sculpt I was seeking making its way home to me. He's fixed up now, and while he's not identical to the original, I actually like that he's a little quirky and uniqle.

Bonus points: What doll were you waiting for?
      Luts Delf El

    15. Have you ever had to hunt down a doll (doesn't have to be limited edition, can be discontinued or otherwise rare)?

Due to personal reasons, if a sculpt I really want is discontinued, I try looking for something similar from another company. So yes, I do hunt around except it's in other doll companies and not the marketplace.

If so, what is the longest you've had to wait and why (whether it was for it to show up at all, or if you had lack of funds when the doll turned up etc.)?

So far, one of the main characters I have still has no doll that can accurately personify her. I've only been looking for 2 years though.

    16. Have you ever had to hunt down a doll (doesn't have to be limited edition, can be discontinued or otherwise rare)?

Yep! Ninodoll Bada! Not limited, but Ninodoll only has a few ordering periods a year. Luckily I ended up getting both of my Bada heads second hand.

If so, what is the longest you've had to wait and why (whether it was for it to show up at all, or if you had lack of funds when the doll turned up etc.)?

I think I first realized I wanted this doll in 2006, and didn't actually buy his head until 2010. I kept putting him off because I knew I would have to buy his head and body separately. He got his first faceup in 2010. Then he went through several different bodies until I found one I liked for him, but the resin ended up NOT matching his head, so I had to send him off to get his head airbrushed to match the body! This was in 2013. THEN I got an alternate head modded and painted for him in 2014 so he could have a closed eye sculpt head. That makes eight years to have him completed in the image I had in my head. And he STILL hasn't been introduced in a photostory at my house!

    17. Have you ever had to hunt down a doll (doesn't have to be limited edition, can be discontinued or otherwise rare)?

Yes, when I found out Serendipity closed down.

If so, what is the longest you've had to wait and why (whether it was for it to show up at all, or if you had lack of funds when the doll turned up etc.)?

About four/five years, partly because I couldn't afford to buy it at first and partly because I couldn't find anyone who had one to sell.
In the end I posted a WTB here on the marketplace and after a while someone contacted me.

Bonus points: What doll were you waiting for?

Serendipity Noel, one of the first dolls I saw when I got interested in BJDs back in 2004. But I was only a high school student and couldn't buy one.

    18. Have you ever had to hunt down a doll (doesn't have to be limited edition, can be discontinued or otherwise rare)?
Four times I have been on the hunt and have had success.

If so, what is the longest you've had to wait and why (whether it was for it to show up at all, or if you had lack of funds when the doll turned up etc.)?
I waited five years for the right doll to come along. Luts discontinued her in December of 2007 and I did not find her until January of 2013.

Bonus points: What doll were you waiting for?
Kid Delf Ttori Elf girl with default faceup.

      Yes!

I have been trying to hunt down a Dollzone Anson. and I think it has been a year now. Not that long compared to the others but man... everytime I get a glimpse of her FS, I would literally cringe and feel a part of me breaking after seeing it's on hold of it's already sold. I've had such problems since I missed out on buying her and I am forever regretful. I do hope I get to have her. Still currently looking for one.

Another one looking for a perfect sculpt for my OC. I decided it would be great to have DoD Too and Bee-A since they're like twins(my OCs are fraternal boy-girl twins) and so I bought them but when they got to me they didn't really fit the part so I had to reshell my characters and sell them out. I searched again and again and again until I found out about Migidoll. I wanted to buy from them but the info about resin match at the time wasn't too informative so I had to put it off for a while. And after a year I finally purchased the Migidoll heads that I was eyeing and for some reason they did fit the part. I guess SDs were better fitting for my OCs than MSD size.

      Dollzone Anson

    20. Have you ever had to hunt down a doll (doesn't have to be limited edition, can be discontinued or otherwise rare)?
More or less half my collection; but since this is for active hunts, and I haven't "actively" hunted for most of them -most of them just happened... I wanted them for a while, happened across them or the company did a rerelease and I jumped on them- I'll count three.

If so, what is the longest you've had to wait and why (whether it was for it to show up at all, or if you had lack of funds when the doll turned up etc.)?
Five years and still ongoing for my remaining hunt. My Juri '11 took four years to show up, my IoS Chaos two.

Bonus points: What doll were you waiting for?

      Fairyland Minifee event Juri 2011
      Immortality of Soul Chaos

and the others: Soom Dia, Smokey, Lami, Unoa L-Bi, Dream High Studio Ossia, Dust of Dolls Këte, Kinoko Juice Kiki, Luts KDF Romance Yul, SCDoll Kaka and Yabi.
