1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is the most positive thing that has ever happened to you in the hobby?

Dec 18, 2014

    1. Probably one of my happiest moments in the hobby was when I was telling my fiance about one of my dolls, he isn't involved in the hobby so rather than naming the sculpt, I began describing her to him. He cut me off and said "Oh you mean Cass?" He knew her name <3 It made me so happy! He's really been making an effort to take an interest! That moment just meant so much to me.

    2. It's hard to pin down one thing exactly, but one that does stand out fairly recently for me is the experience of getting my two SDs. Admittedly, getting the first one turned into a bit of a trial, when he turned out to be in much worse condition than advertised, with some uneven yellowing that had ruined his hands. However, since I was discussing the progress of his cleaning and repairs in the company discussion thread, what started as an "I'm not even sure what I'm going to do about this" situation turned into an absolutely lovely person sending me a set of replacement hands! (And they matched his sanded, repaired color perfectly, too!)

Once I got him done, and was just ridiculously happy with him (in part because of the massive transformation I put him through), I started hunting around for a second doll from the same company for his partner... and idle discussion of that again brought up yet another lovely person's old practice head, which happened to be the sculpt I was looking for. So I was then gifted that head as well (no money was paid for either hands or head, so there weren't any MP violations happening in this whole process), on the agreement that I would put in the effort to restore that head and make it something other than just a poor sad practice head.

The degree of community that ended up going into these dolls (being gifted important parts of them, and then having the same modder do some of the larger repairs to both of them) makes them that much more special to me, and that much more a special part of my collection. To me they represent, in part, the amazing community that DoA and the BJD hobby as a whole can really be, because in spite of warnings of scammers and recasts and the like, there's still a lot of amazing people around here. :aheartbea

    3. Although I'm very new to the hobby, I think my best/proudest moment was when on another site, someone mistook my cheaper sculpt doll for a very expensive brand because the pictures I took of her outside were so good :)

    4. I love the photostories of people who have these complex ongoing stories. It's so great to get to know their stories and their characters.

My own personal best moment has been when I opened my fist doll. Finally seeing him in person was amazing.

I love sharing those first doll moments with people in the box opening threads. There is something so satisfying about having that long planed for doll coming home, even if its not your doll.

    5. What is really awesome for me:

      * Getting my first girl 3 months ahead of schedule, right before Christmas in 2013.
      * Going to my first meet at Jafax and making a bunch of new friends
      * Having a meet sometime between every 1-3 months to see said friends
      * Being able to finally put my sewing skills to use.

    6. I already proposed to my fiance and got him a ring (so we've really been engaged for almost two years now), but the other day he gave me a Dollie head i had picked out but he had purchased for me that had finally arrived in the mail... (Note: little rebels seven)

I go to change his eyes out as the ones he came with were the wrong color for his character...

And there inside his head, held in place with eye putty was a beautiful diamond engagement ring!!!

I didn't know I had a dream "proposal" story but now that its happened I don't think I could have drempt of a better story!

Same here. It's easy for artists to burn out (other jobs too) my dolls help me keep the fire burning and are my muses.

This is a touching story. I'm so glad your loved ones recognize your dolls.
The photo stories are totally fun. So are box openings.
