1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is your best and/or worst buying experience?

Jun 7, 2023

    1. My best experience was when my Impldoll Alma (bought via Alice's Collections) made an unfortunate fall and her head cap was broken (not the face). I contacted Alice's Collections to ask if it was possible to get another head cap. They contacted Impldoll, it was possible, I payed a small amount, and when the package arrived, a whole new Alma head was inside it! It's years ago, and Alma is no longer with me, but I've never forgotten it, it was such a kind gesture!

I prefer to forget about the bad experiences, and there are not all that many anyway so far.

    2. I never had a worst experience buying a doll
      But
This faceup i ordered - that $$+ shipping wouldve been better left in my pocket. I actually hate this mfing faceup

    3. I think my worst one was when I ordered DC Jodie from the company, paid, got the confirmation, waited two months and *then* was told he was discontinued. They gave me my money back, but they didn't refund it - instead they made a payment, so I ended up having to pay PP fees on top of being disappointed.

The second worst was my Dollzone Deer, who arrived at the dealers' with a broken ear. The dealer tried for months to get a replacement from Dollzone, and in the end I got fed up and just told the dealer to send me the damaged head and forget about it, because it wasn't worth the hassle and the headache.

Most of my doll buying experiences have been positive, though. I couldn't really say which one was my favourite...

    4. This is a new fear i didn't know I had. i buy a LOT of artist heads..., this thread is just full of fears !

    5. To be fair, I never contacted the artist and complained about it. I was still in my younger phase of not wanting to cause anyone trouble. :blush But in hindsight I think the artist would have agreed that the quality was not up to par. They never had a chance to know there was a problem and try to make it right, since I never brought it up ;)

    6. Did you keep the doll? Do you still have them to this day? That's a fun story, even if the cast wasn't that great.

    7. No, I ended up selling it, at a loss :sweat I am not too experienced with rescues and just wasn't up for the task :frownyblush: I hope the new owner was able to clean him up beautifully.

    8. Best: Got a volks f17 doll AND a volks outfit new in packaging for $190 shipped. Ended up being one of my favorite dolls even though I bought him mostly for the clothes.

Worst: Bought a doll that I was paying off on layaway. I was $100 away from paying it off in full, seller changed their mind, kept the doll, kept $450 out of $600 touting that "I saw you sold something else and didn't send me money, so I am no longer comfortable selling to you and am keeping the doll and your money." and didn't even let me explain that I had to sell that doll for emergency vet funds but still intended to pay the last $100 that Friday. Would NOT hear it. I was devastated because it was a grail and I still intended to pay him off. I still sadly think of this transaction. Ended up the seller immediately had a good friend repaint him and sold him for MORE later becaause that person is a "famous" faceup artist.

    9. Best: This one is hard to say - I've had so many excellent transactions on & off DOA, but I'd say maybe my Rugged Realism boys? I think we were all so invested in the journey of the creation, and despite so many setbacks and challenges during the process, communication was excellent and my boys still arrived earlier than I anticipated. Aside from that, I feel like winning any Volks lottery is always exhilerating!

Worst: The transaction itself wasn't noteworhy, but I bought an extremely rare head secondhand and he was shipped in an unpadded envelope from (I think) Singapore to the US. The head was okay, thankfully, but I nearly had a heart attack at the sight.
