What is your grail doll, and why is it your grail?

I think it’s the difficulty infindjng the one I want, and then at a somewhat reasonable price.

 

My absolute grail doll has to be Supiadoll's Naomi. She is utterly PERFECT for the character I want a doll for and I REALLY want to make the outfit I designed a reality. Even if it's in doll size.........

 

My grail doll is a iplehouse carina in special real skin. Ever since I got into this hobby I've always wanted her she fits a character of mine so perfectly.

 

Ha, my grail is the Ringdoll Zombie Sol and he's pretty my characters not existent anymore. He's my grail because well he's a zombie.

 

It’s funny. I cooed over Granado’s Uriel when he was released, but had just bought my Volks FCS, so I just sighed and accepted I wouldn’t have one unless I bought it secondhand eventually.

Then their Christmas event happened, and I couldn’t resist. I am weak. But I now have a Uriel, and am content.

Between him, and the Angell-Studio Diao Chan, I have the two dolls who callled to me the most.

Sorry I don't understand the second part of the question. Currently I have one doll Hyperon. I will definitely be keeping him because he's my only bjd that I spent a lot of money on. There's no point selling him since I've lost a lot of money when I sold my other dolls in the past. He wasnt my ideal doll but ive always wanted a SOOM Idealian and he was on sale at that time. Once I get my feet up again im hoping to buy more SOOM dolls.

I don't think there really is any one existing sculpt that I want above all others. That being said, does the doll have to exist? Because theoretically if any company came out with a fantasy lobster themed tiny I would 100% forgo all other dolls and be satisfied with my tiny rock lobster until the end of my days, especially since I've been wanting it to exist for the last 6 years now...

I've been in the hobby for ten years, and in that time, I've had two grail dolls: Soom Ender and Volks F-16. I have owned them both, and fallen out of love with them both. I still think they are both gorgeous sculpts, some of my favorites, really, but not for me. I didn't like Ender's default body, but between his huge neck size and dark brown color, making him a hybrid was next to impossible. Either the head didn't fit, color didn't match, or if I managed to find a body that fit those needs, it was too buff and I didn't like it. I also wanted him to be an 18th Dynasty Pharaoh, and finding or making authentic enough clothing from that period was next to impossible. That doll caused me so much more stress and sadness than happiness, so he had to go. I loved F-16, but my dolls shell roleplay characters of mine, and my issue with him was that he was so special, I was afraid to play him and allow others' interactions with him to ruin the character or story for me, but without playing him, I also couldn't develop him into a deeper character and bond to him. Because of this catch-22, I had to let him go.

Now, I'm pretty happy with my crew. There are a few other dolls I think about getting and one in particular on my current wish list, but I wouldn't consider any of them to be grails, and I'll be okay if I never end up owning them. There are other dolls I absolutely LOVE, but I'll never buy--Iplehouse Kamau and Simply Divine Harlequin, to name a couple. Beautiful sculpts, but they're both just so BIG. They need the big beefy 70cm muscle bodies, and I am just not at all interested in that size. If they could fit on 62cm slim/toned bodies and look good, I'd already own them. I also really love Dollshe Amanda Beauty, but between her height being much taller than I prefer and Dollshe's excruciating wait times/service, I won't buy one. However, I won't rule out a secondhand hybrid one day.

I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but there is 1/12 lobster/human hybrid by a Chinese artist called Taffydoll. I believe they have a shop on taobao.

 

Oh, that is a hard one. I have two I just can't imagine parting with, and none I like as much as them. My Ringdoll Lora and my Luts KDF Winter Event 2013.

All my dolls were grails. Rare, hard to come by, but with some searching, I got them all. Except for this one guy.

I'm afraid to jinx it by talking about it but...
Ever since I saw him in 2005, I've wanted this doll. Unfortunately, only a couple were made, he was sold out, and the owners were mostly living in East-Asia, and didn't visit any of the international forums. In all my years of searching, I've never once found a sales-thread of him. Until this week!

He's on layaway, and it'll take some time before he can come home, but I'll finally be the owner of a Kanon Louis . ... And I can't believe it XD.
