What is your grail doll, and why is it your grail?

Sunho from DistantMemory is the actual doll of my dreams and I’ve been looking for him everywhere. I love him because he’s sculpted to look like park jimin of bts and he’s my bias and the love of my life.

I will not rest until I find this doll but he’s so rare and expensive

 

It used to be Volks Williams and I was pretty sure I'd never own one. I got lucky and got one last year. Switched to Volks Suigintou now, and I'm pretty sure I'll never own one. We'll see ...

 

1. Dollshe Amanda. But Dollshe is on my boycott list. So I won't get one unless things change over there.
2. Doll Chateau Lilly. She's so big and unusual and well different. And other end of realism spectrum from the first.

 

I thought about this latelly, what really was a grail to me.
Since I only buy sculpts I really love I see all m dolls at grails somehow. However as I see that most people couple it to an unoptainable sculpt (or almost unoptainable) I would say a souldoll clay in sandy brown. I mean I have a souldoll clay, and I love his sculpt, however at the time souldoll told me they would never make him in sandy brown. With them eventually releasing it I alread had him in ns and I could not afford a second one.
Another doll that's a little more unoptainable but I for sure want to own one day is a Spiritdoll Dolce Nymphea or camelia. Those body's are just to die for. I mean I know I will eventually own one, just in the far future.
And lastly an conarium Lilith, hopefully in the far far future.

 

My grail is a Volks Miruku. When I first got into the hobby I only looked at Volks dolls and I fell in love with her sculpt when I saw her. Sadly she was released a very long time ago and she is very expensive, so the odds of me getting her are very slim. One can dream haha.

 

My grail doll is a doll that doesn't exist yet.
I'm waiting on a mocha brown Switch Taeheo to get released.
I can't really say what it is that makes me want him so much. I really love the Taeheo sculpt and imagining him in mocha brown resin just makes me think that he would be absolute perfection.
I will probably have to be very patient and maybe it will never happen. But I will have hope anyways

 

My current grail is the Volks SDGrB Tyltyl. I usually prefer girl dolls, but once in awhile a boy will catch my eye I just love how "doe-eyed" he is! He is completely adorable to me, but at the same time, incredibly versatile! I really love the vibes he gives, and his default make up is stunning. I sincerely regret not entering for him..

 

Mine is hwayoung from distant memory i already own sunho and yesterday his body arrived.

 

I don't have a grail at this point. Whether it is because I haven't seen it yet or it doesn't yet exist, I can't say at this point.

 

I don't know if I specifically have a grail, honestly! Usually to me a 'grail' would be a doll that is super expensive, while most of my most-wanted dolls, the ones that I'm very emotionally attached to, are older MSDs that nobody really cares about so don't sell for a lot usually. One of those is a stock AR Cien girl with her original Cotton Baby faceup and outfit, as well as the AR Platina Angels Seio girl which I had slated to be one of my first BJDs when I was a teenager but obviously wasn't available by the time I was an adult, since they discontinued their Little Fair line by then. I already have a stock AR Ren and Dana, Ren being one of my all-time favorite resins in existence (So I guess she'd be a grail that I own) , while the other AR girls are ones that I would love to own but can mostly live without, but would jump to buy in a heartbeat. Right now if I had to pick one resin to keep and get rid of the other 3, Ren would be the keeper. She's yellowed, she's old, but she's the only resin that I truly cannot live without.

The ''grail'' for me, like the doll I would spend a fortune on if I had that kinda money, is the Dolpa Chii doll that came out AGES ago. Realistically I can get a custom one made for cheaper with DD parts since her head is basically the proto- DDH01 head but something about the original is awe-inspiring. The faceup is so simple and yet incredibly effective at translating the character into a doll, including Chi's very blank-faced, doll like expression and general 'feel' of her and I find the construction to be fascinating- such as the way her ears are separate pieces from the head that are strung on the inside and open/close, as if she were an actual persocom. The only changes I would want to make are her wig which I would replace with something similar but thicker/different hair fiber. But yeah, getting one with minimal yellowing and an original faceup would likely be 3k++ which I'm never spending on a doll lol.

 

I used to think I didn't have a grail, or rather my grail was Ringdoll Qinzhe, which I got as my first doll, making him no longer my grail (whew!). So I thought I'd never have to deal with longing for an extremely difficult to obtain doll....

But then I got it in my head that I wanted a knight doll, and I remembered Luts released one recently, and yep, it's official, now French Knight Abadon is my grail. I'm sort of angrily kicking myself here because I saw him when he first came out around the end of last year, he was available for three months (!!!), and honestly for a fullset armored doll with fully painted parts, his price is a steal (I can only imagine what the Soom equivalent must cost). And BJDivas with their generous long layaways is a Luts dealer and argh! It's so frustrating to know I JUST missed ordering him when I could have. I thought he was cool but didn't feel the burning urge for a knight that I have now...and now I'll accept no other knight.

Well, he's new-ish, so I hope he'll be easier to find secondhand (though right now I feel frustrated precisely BECAUSE he's new and I could have gotten him new sulk sulk). Gonna stay on the lookout for a full French Knight with all his parts, and with the blue color scheme at that ('cause what do you know, the silver one does nothing for me!).

 

My grail doll is Soom's Faery Legend Rose Sprite. I remember seeing her years and years ago and just falling in love right away. Unfortunately, I was just a high school student back then (with no money), so there was no way for me to order her. I could afford her now, but she was a limited edition doll.

Reasons why: her nice pinky resin color, that gorgeous scuplt, and oh my god the faery legs and wings. Turns out I'm a sucker for semi-transparent resin, and well... I love roses! Overally, she's just so gorgeous!

 

My grail is Volks Suiseiseki because she was the first doll I ever came to love, and was how I got in the hobby in the first place. I love her big, round eyes and the pout of her lips! My other grail doll is Distant Memory Jaeii. I love his soft, semirealistic features! Also dolls with teeth are always a plus! He was in such high demand that his preorder period was closed early! I just hope he comes back in stick one of these days

 

My Grail is and always has been a Crobidoll Red. I was introduced to the hobby three years ago thanks to the Otome game Nameless and I fell in love with the character Red. Crobidoll released a limited edition of the Red bjd. Unfortunately that was before I joined the hobby so I missed my chance. I hope to one day find him second hand. He is the only SD sized doll I'd ever own.

 

Delf Dark Elf Soo. She was the doll that I first saw on DeviantArt so many years ago that got me wanting a doll. It was years later before I actually got into the hobby (by then, CP had stopped making delfs and started Fairyland) so of course I never had a chance to actually buy her from Luts. It all turned out for the best though, because she wasn't right for the character I initially thought she could be, and by the time I finally managed to track one down on the Marketplace I didn't need her to be a character, and she could just be her lovely self.

 

Minor Grail - Iplehouse Dexter for his resemblance to various games characters depending on his faceup.
Fell in like with him based on his shop pics both bearded (MGS Big Boss) and clean shaven (Leon Kennedy / Thomas Raith wig dependent). I wasn't sure how long I remain in the big doll hobby since they are so expensive and my friends were enabling each other at a scary rate (to me). I'm 1/6 playscale to begin with.

Had the chance to take the plunge when saving up for someone else smaller. I fell in like all over again with him when I unbox him to find that he resemble even more characters from games I played. He dethrone my major grail (Soom Cyborg Sabik) and made it really hard for me to get more male dolls his size. His spouse Iplehouse Luna surprisingly does the same thing for pretty boys and mature ladies sculpt.

No regrets getting him, I expect his FID version to keep up with his EID version.

 

My grail doll has changed. My current is a Fairyland Celine (in Tan). She's my grail before of a previous character I had, called Nala. When I left the hobby and came back I was adamant I needed to bring her back. Her previous sculpt was a Fairyland Minifee in Tan, but I think i'd like to make her a Feeple60. Just because I had her character so long ago, i'd like her to be more grown up/developed.

 

My grail I was lucky to be able to purchase this year. I am in school and working at a low paying job so I was so happy that I was able to do 6 month layaway. Charm doll Trista is my pride and joy and I am so happy to be able to finally hold her after waiting so long.

 

right now my grail doesnt physically exist, but a modded dd would be mine. ive seen so many cute ones on yahoo japan and i love them so much theres such a variety of them

 

My grail have always been the anime inspired dolls from Immortality of Soul. I’ve always loved those because I love their unique outfits designed specifically and for only a limited time. My other grail is one that’s available, but may consider getting if the I.O.S don’t re-release their sold out dolls again, but it’s from DollZone, 1/3 named Snow, I love the innocent face, and have always been a sucker for innocent face ups, and it would be my first male bjd, if I plan to get it.
