What is your grail doll, and why is it your grail?

Volks Suiseiseki. I owned her in the past & had to sell her due to difficult circumstances.

I will have her back one day.

 

I've always maintained that Iplehouse Eric is my grail. But, I looked at his pictures again recently, and I realised that I wasn't in love with him like I used to be.

So, I would say that my grail is a Dollshe Saint. Except that I'm in the process of obtaining him.

Therefore, I have no Grail doll at the moment. I haven't found one that is unobtainable or irresistible enough to be a Grail in my opinion.

 

For a while while I lurked around the hobby, I never had a particular "grail" because I always figured, "Oh, I'll eventually get one, thank goodness my favorites aren't limited or have weird ordering periods!"

And then they discontinued Dollzone Annie. The first doll I ever truly fell in love with, and I couldn't afford the discontinuing sale at the time. I was... Well, to be honest, I was salty for quite a while. And in my list of dolls I wanted to get at some point or another, Annie became my first ever grail.

Good news, though, is that I'm actually going to be able to get it! An owner on Instagram is holding their Annie that they're selling for me, and I'm thrilled to bits.

Now, I'd say the closest thing I have to a grail is D.I.M. Larina, since now she's discontinued, but even her I'm not quite as in love with and thrilled to bits with. Still, if I find one on the secondhand market, and I have the money...

 

I want to hear about the top doll for some other people! How do you plan on getting the doll?

 

When I first replied to this in 2017 I had no idea I was looking for a special doll. But I found her in an Irrealdoll Nur. Parker has been with me for almost three (March 28 2019 ) years and I love her so much. If my arthritis gets worse I will let all the others go, including her twin brother and then just spoil her. I love all my dolls but she's the one I travel with and see doing so much more with over any of the others. I even want to find her jointed hands so she can do more in photos.

 

I don't have a grail doll, really but I've got my eyes on a doll chateau bella head and a doll zone 42cm body!

 

My grail is a DollPamm Arubi. I love the sculpt's proportions and it's so whimsical. Her face is so fun, and every time I see one my heart skips about 20 beats and I have to be resuscitated! DollPamm's sculpts have always been just the right proportions for me, but I have never been attached to any of them other than the Arubi.

 

I own most of my real grail dolls. The only one that is really still out there is IH Leonard. I love him because he's just beautiful - same as my other boys that I've gotten (72 Idealian Hyperon, Volks Ryoma Sakamoto, IH Bichun) & would fit perfectly into my dollie world.

 

Well, my grail doll is a Littlefee Luna and she is my grail because I wanted her for about seven years now. She was just the cutest non living thing I've ever seen on this planet and I immediately fell in love with her. Eventually I ordered her two weeks ago because I finally have a character for her in mind ♥

 

Don't have one yet but... half-grail, since Larina half-closed eyes is no longer on sale and I really wanted her I think I would buy her second-hand if anyone was willing to part with her. However, it is not a must, I can live without her. Just would be nice to have her.

 

I have two grails and they're both limited so I'm resigning myself to the second-hand market...
Granando LE Saturn with his Chinese New Year fullset...I'll never get the scratch together before he's discontinued. This one I've managed to find an acceptable dupe for, so although I'd prefer Mr. Saturn, I can live with a dupe knowing it'll have most of the qualities I like.
But I also want a Bishonen House Nails and he's super extra limited and I'm having a very hard time dealing with that because he's so fascinating and I love his faceplates (all of them) and just...grrr...it makes me so fras with myself.

My first ever grail doll is currently the only doll I own, a KDF Bory. I wouldn't permit myself to fall in love with more expensive or rare dolls. I was just content with his sweet little pout and would pine away, knowing I'd never find the scratch on my own...until he showed up second-hand and I pounced! Now he's my precious treasure.

 

I think I have 3 grails:

The Luts pumpkin head & the PukiPuki pumpkin head. I'd love a little army of jack-o-lantern dolls with different faces --- if you can't tell from my avatar, I have a thing for pumpkin heads.

And the third is a Doll Chateau Elizabeth in tan & with an extra set of arms and maybe extra eye(s).
Now I know Liz isn't a limited release and I can buy her whenever though tan does cost extra but the amount of modding is daunting (I've never done any modding!), which is what makes her a grail.

 

My grail is currently being made for me!!! ❤️Angell Studio Cynthia. Before finding this sculpt, I was planning on purchasing my previous grail, FL F60 Chloe. I remember seeing some unboxings of Angell Studio and, for fun, decided to check out their site. At first I saw Kana, and thought, "Wow, this company has a beautiful style." Then I saw Cynthia and my jaw literally DROPPED. She was everything I was looking for in a doll, especially for the character I am creating. In that moment, that doll had to be mine. Her jaw shape was the perfect "V" shape. Her eyes were round and big with only a sprinkling of manga-style. Even her company face-up was exactly what I was looking for! So, I started a layaway with MOC and here we are today haha, this entire story sounds like I'm talking about how I met a partner lol~

 

My holy grail doll is a Noble Dolls Asella Raspberry ♡
And I feel so lucky because my amazing boyfriend is buying one off a seller on instagram for me for Christmas and I could not be happier or more excited to have her home with me ♡♡♡​

 

My holy grails are Dollfie Dream Saber (zero) and Dollfie Dream Saber Lily. They are stupidly expensive so I never thought I'd be able to own them. The reason why I wanted them is partially their armor and swords but also that I really love the character they're based on. Somehow through sorcery and some expert shopping, I found them both are a decent price and they are quite lovely. I sometimes just stare at them and just wonder if I'm dreaming.

 

I have a grail doll on my wish list. He is a grail because he's (1) discontinued (2) highly sought after (3) produced in very limited quantities hence very hard to find (and most importantly 4) the sculpt that I really really really like because of his very pleasing aesthetics.

 

My grail is Iplehouse EID Asa. Yeah, yeah I know what your all thinking. She'd be super easy to attain but at the moment I've just finished full time study and am looking for work so money is basically non-existant. Also Asa was the first BJD I saw and it was love at first sight. For me, no doll compares to her.

 

I currently ran out of the "grail dolls to get" list. Most of them are grail dolls for the same reason. It was hard to obtain them because they are(/were) Tenshi no Sato exclusive, and I don't have anyone who can help me proxy.

My longest grail doll for over 10 years was Volks F-35 when she was Sato only. There is something about this sculpt that I absolutely love. The confident expression is so darn cute with plenty of attitude to go with it. It is still my absolute favorite sculpt to this day.
I managed to purchase a head from MB a long time ago and bought the body separately also from MB. I ended up selling her when I left the hobby for some time.
When Volks USA offered their online FCS in 2014, F-35 was one of the sculpt offered so I repurchased the doll.

The other one I always wanted is Volks Lorina, but I put it in the back burner because I refuse to pay the triple (mostly scalped) secondhand market price. I entered for the Volks Alice (WS Lorina) one off lottery for the holiday 2016 but I didn't get her. Then Volks had the Jo March lottery and I somehow won, so that's one more off the list. I love that sassy face.

Another one of my newest grail doll is Volks FCS F-62. I love that dainty, mysterious look. It is absolutely beautiful as boy or girl (IMHO). I love that ethereal look that it has. Definitely a lot of attitude or mystery depending on the styling. I have so many plans for them.
Sadly, It is Sato only sculpt that I planned on purchasing when I visited Japan last year, only to discover that Tenshi no Sato was closed during my time of visit. Heartbroken, I emailed Volks suggesting them to bring F-62 to the US FCS and they finally did this month. So I purchased 2 of the sculpt too LOL.

So I suppose for now I don't really have any unattainable grail doll yet. I am so lucky to have all the grail dolls that I ever wanted due to sheer luck xD

 

This is a strange term for me since I'm brand new to the hobby, but I guess since it's been long discontinued you could say my first and only doll was my grail?? XD I *only* wanted a luts tiny delf centaur, and I now have one. But now I want *all* the colors! So I guess my "grail" is a complete centaur collection. ((There are... 6 I think, including the zebra tehe. If you see my post in the "13 dolls" event discussion I have the full list laid out there.)) And... *sigh* an Aileen Doll dragon of any kind is a super close second.

I guess I forgot to add *why* but you could probably assume. I love fantasy creatures! I've made a working centaur body for a costume and call them my spirit animal. XD So they're very close to my heart.
