Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. What is your grail doll, and why is it your grail?

Feb 3, 2015

    1. Right now my grail doesn't even exist yet - it has in-progress shots from the doll artist but isn't yet available. I love it because I'm really super drawn towards unique sculpts. I sort of feel like a lot of doll companies and sculpts all start to look too similar after a while...so when I see ones with unique body types or face shapes I am very drawn to them. Current grail is an in-progress Depths Dolls - his dolls have extremely unique shapes and faces imo so that's why I love them. They're just so different. I also love Lillycat/Cerise dolls for the same reason...someday I'll get one of hers too xD

I guess aesthetics is first and foremost why I like BJDs so usually grails are grails because I love how they look. If I see them and I'm immediately thinking "oh my gosh, this doll is absolutely gorgeous and I need it someday" and it actually hurts me emotionally that I don't own it xD That's what makes a grail a grail for me.

    2. There was just something about the Soom Marl that really grabbed my attention (turns out I just love anthro deer dolls and deer pet dolls) And I especially adored her little hooves. She was my grail mostly because she was VERY hard to find and it took me a few years to get her and even then I was still on the lookout for her fantasy parts.

    3. I dont really have a grail but if i did then i would get it because it is beautiful.

    4. My grail is definitely the Juri 2005! I really like her eyes and her little open mouth :chibi

    5. There are far too many dolls that I like but if I were to choose one I would love to have more than any other one it would be Tender E-an. I wanted her so badly but DOD suddenly stopped making their dolls. :(

    6. My grail is Iplehouse Claude in F.I.D size. I just love his face and smile. He looks so perfect. A bit different from other dolls. My original size was S.I.D but when I saw the portable F.I.D size I fell in love with that instantly. And the only girl I want is the same size, so he'll even get a girlfriend. ;)

    7. I'm dreaming of finding a Dollshe Stille (or Keiji) in normal skin. He looks almost exactly like a manga character I love and want to have in bjd form. I hope he might turn up in a year or so!

    8. My grail doll is a Crobidoll Sinbi. I saw the sculpt from someone on instagram when I finally decided I wanted a BJD. She's like, totally my type when it comes to female dolls okay. She's perfect! I really love her sculpt especially her droopy eyes but I couldn't find her available anywhere. I got so frustrated looking for another doll I wanted as my first one. Even though I'm now set on having an IOS Sezz as my first doll, if the chance to own Sinbi appears I'll find it in my heart to put him on hold.

    9. I have two Grails. SOOM Lucifer and SoulDoll Junia Spider queen! Lucifer is hot, detailed, and I have always been fascinated by the idea behind hell and Satan. I need him. Junia is also hot, detailed, and I've wanted a doll with four arms since I discovered it was possible! Junia and Lucifer would date if I got them, and I would of course change their names. They are works of art, plus I hear their companies are good with posing. Plus the fullsets for both are glorious. I could go on and on. Sometimes I look them up just to gaze at them and dream....until I remember they are sold out and I'll have to just hope the marketplace has one soon. :'(

    10. I have two grails: Haeun from Supiadoll and Waseon from SWITCH. They were both sculpts that made me go, "Wow, now that's a nice piece of resin!" :XD: I adore the sculpts from every angle and I find them so pretty. These two dolls aren't the hardest to obtain (I have already ordered both), but they are definitely my must-have dolls for my collection! :)

    11. My grail doll is Volks' Lucas. A simple tilt of the head can completely change the overall impression of the doll's face, I think. Also, I love the sculpting and details of the Super Dollfie13 body. Sure, the mobility is limited but Lucas is the only doll I would be willing to ignore that little inconvenience since just looking at this doll gives me such nostalgic feelings.

    12. My grail has always been Unoa Lusis, and even better in Paradise Skin. I realize she's not all that rare, but I knew I had to have her. Every picture I saw of this sculpt blew me away. I love her expression. She has the sweetest lips and there's so much emotion in the shape of her eyes! I'm actually lucky enough to own this doll, and I'm still trying to figure out just how I'd like to customize her!

    13. My holy grail have been «Soom, Mechanic Vampire Gluino» all since he came out in 2013.
I remember I wanted him so much that I could almost cry xD
But I could not afford him at that time, pluss that I didn´t notice him before after he was sold out =/
Anyway, I have been looking at the second hand market ever since and guess what - this summer it finally paid of :D 5 years later!
I was lucky to find him in almost perfect condition with his box, extra body parts and cert/ID number =^.^= He was still really expensive tough, but hey he was worth it <3 I love him to bits and pieces and I am with him every day :D

...The only funny thing is that once I got my grail, I got two new grails o.O How did that happend ?
Can I not live without any grail ? xD
Well well, my new holy grails are : IOS - Sebastian Michaelis and IOS - Grell Sutcliff :3

I am curious, what happens to you people when you finally got your grails ? :)

    14. My "grail" doll is... well, probably low-lying fruit relative to most other folks' grails. She's kind of only a grail because of her price and my financial situation, and even then, I guess she's more "goal" than "grail." Well, in any case, my goal/grail doll right now is a Senior Delf Juniper. She just looks sooooo pretty, and elegant, and confident...:sweat Maybe, when I've been in the hobby a bit longer, I'll have a more "legit" grail doll that's actually limited edition, or something like that.

    15. I finally got my Grail (Volks Tae 2nd fullset) in October after years of waiting and watching for what I considered a reasonable price. My friend RKold, who got me interested in BJDs in the first place, had been sharing pictures of the shows she attended in Japan for a few years, but the company picture she showed me of Tae back in 2008 was the first one that made me feel like I wanted to spend that much money on a doll. She is such an elegant sculpt, and her Taisho schoolgirl outfit (with the kimono, hakama, and boots) was perfect.

As for the future, now that I finally got my grail...who knows?

    16. I fell in love with them and they are really rare right now ... I badly want them :(

    17. My grail used to be Dollshe Hound when I had no idea how to even order from them, almost a decade ago. Now I can finally order him and I'm really excited, even considering the legendary wait times. I really love all of Dollshe's sculpts, but they're a bit too "real" for my tastes, so Hound is the perfect mix between Dollshe's style and a more subdued, softer look, so he's perfect for me.

    18. I took one look at him and fell head over heels in love with him but he is a whopping 700 before shipping and then of course it's going to cost another good 150 or so to get him some clothes and the wig I want and I just can't afford him so he is reserved to be my grail.

    19. My grail is more of a...shell concept than any specific company's sculpt (though I've had my eyes on a Granado sculpt or two, I don't know if they're "it"). I really want to get a large (70 cm, maybe) scale doll to shell the father of my Tiny Delf Gretel shelled character. I'm still searching for a sculpt with the right look though!
The reason this shell concept is my grail is because I really, REALLY want to take "family photo" style shots. I just think the idea is really cute.

    20. My grail is a Soom Cheshire, UGH i was so sad when i found out they were limited edition! I missed out on that sculpt by a long shot.
Its my grail because i absolutely love the features it has, the paw feet are so stinking cute!
