What is your grail doll?

Top of my list is an SD Tan El. One turns up every once in a while in the marketplace but it's always the price that keeps me from buying. Any of the Tan SDs I want are more than I can afford to pay right now.

 

Soom York and IOS S. And I got them both this year!

My new grail is a Soul Doll Chiron, centaur version. Since he was limited he'll probably never be rereleased. XD But hey, a dream's a dream!

 

My current "grail dolls": Volks Amelia, Olivia (both as boys, lol).

The "grail" that I now own: Esthy Peroth (because of the rerelease, lucky )

Grail dolls for me are dolls I want a lot, but are hard to get. I guess the ones I got already are more like dream dolls, haha. Or just sculpts I really want. That is probably the only reason why grail dolls for me tend to be limited and/or expensive. If they weren't, I'll have gotten them already.

At one point, I wanted Migi Miho so badly, even though I never really considered him a grail doll. But it was the kind of, I'll do almost anything to buy one sort of bad. :/ Luckily I didn't sell anyone to get him (2 of him actually), because I'm sure I'll regret it next time. I don't think I'll sell my current collection just to fund a grail doll though, no matter how much I want the grail, because there's still a chance that I won't like that doll as much as I thought I would, and it'll be really hard to find that out AFTER I've sold my much loved dolls to get him/her.

 

Hmm... I think I'd have to say I have a couple of grail dolls.

The first one would actually be my first doll, an inexpensive genderswapped Bobobie Sprite. I'd looked at dolls from afar for a long time, thinking "Those are pretty but they're just not really my thing, and they're just so expensive!" And then a friend showed me pictures of Sprite, because the sculpt looked a lot like how I draw one of my OCs, and between that and the price... well, let's just say I was doomed then and there. I'd decided when I first started seeing dolls, the only way I would do one is if I could do that particular OC, but never looked far enough to see the options until that day. So because of that long, vague planning period combined with him being the doll that got me going in this hobby, I'd count him as a "grail doll."

Along the way I've had some dolly quests (including one that's getting close to finished) but the other "grail doll" I might say would be for another of my OCs, who has a decidedly non-human body. I've actually tried NOT looking for mini-size serpentine bodies/parts so I'm not tempted by an LE that costs way more than I can put down for a doll right now, but someday I'll get his body, snake tail and all, and pull him together too. For now, I can dream and plan, and I'm sure by the time I succeed at getting him, I'll have come up with yet another grail to pursue!

 

I found my absolute grail doll a while ago, a Serendipity Alice. Now my current grail doll is a MNF Rix on the new Moe line body.

 

Both my grail dolls are quite expensive ones. Both of them are also already with me: an Unoa Lusis (I now have more than one, as it is) and a Soom Chrom. Their prices had nothing to do with them being grail dolls; it was more a question of aesthetics. I wanted to own them really badly, but I am a rather spontaneous person when it comes to doll purchases and never had the money due to buying something else

The problem is, the grail dolls didn't satiate my desire for new dolls... Poor wallet. I'm not sure how much more it can handle

 

My grail dolls are Volks Alice, Lorina and Magical Michael. I just think they are fantastic.

 

I don't have any current grails. There are dolls I would really love to own, but I wouldn't consider them to be grails at this point. I own five of my grails, three of which are LEs. The other two are common, but I just loved the sculpt so much that I would consider them to be grails.

My ultimate grail is a Soom Amber fullset. I didn't think I would ever find her and that it would take years to piece her together, but she's sitting in my room right now

 

I have two grail dolls, Soom Amber already with me and Volks Yugiri that I will bring home soon, finally, she's waiting for me!

 

hmmm It's a tough call, because i haven't really considered any of my wishlist dolls grail dolls. I suppose the one that qualifies the most is a Soom WS Nor. It was a MD, and i can't seem to find the entire doll on the MP anywhere he seems to be sold in parts... I also haven't seen his normal head on the MP, just the romantic head, and I really want the normal head. before I got into BJDs i created a character I really love, and the Soom Nor is like the embodiment of my character, but with the difficulty of trying to find him whole, with the parts I want, and also the amount of effort and customization I'd have to put into him after I obtained the doll (body blushing, special eyes, wigs, clothes, etc.) make him, for right now, the closest thing I have to a grail doll. Of course I'd love to own him one day and it is a goal of mine, but I don't feel overly compelled or desired to hunt the doll down as of right now (I don't have the resources to do the things I want with him, so that's the biggest reason I don't feel compelled to look for him as of yet)

It was/is Soom Sabik for me - he's on his way now, nothing new has popped up to replace him on the grail list yet but we'll see!

 

My grail doll is a Soom Chrom hybrid. I really wanted a doll to represent a character of mine who happens to be a toned lion man. Soom Chrom had the right legs, but not the right face so I only got the legs. Then I found the legs on the MP for a good price and jumped on them. I also found the perfect face for the character, an Impldoll Aldrich, and I pined after him for months before I bought him with my partner. Now he's being made, the legs are waiting for him, and then I'm pretty much done with my collection (for now). Still need a body for my floating head, but all in due time.

 

I have 2 grail doll and I have one of them: 1. Leekeworld Mikhaila(I got her), 2. Kyrielle enaibi.

 

honestly I loved my grail doll so much I now own three of them! that would be the dollzone mo! he was affordable enough and my first Mo was also my second dollie ever, but I got him back when I honestly thought I would never in this lifetime afford another dollie after going broke to buy my first one (lookit me now im practically drowning in dollies LOL) he was new from company and he is still my favorite! my second Mo and his identical twin was a Mo head I found on the marketplace and put on a resinsoul body, and my third mo is the limited event SD mo-b head which will be an SD re-shell of my MSD character! (and now im debating a dollzone Zo which has a very similar face to Mo as is... I really have a weakness for the style of Mo's face!)

 

I don't have a sculpt picked out but I'd love to own a pair of dolls to look like Yuki Eiri and Shuichi Shindo from Gravitation >W<

 

My grail doll is the Luts SSDF Blue Knight Commander Abadon. And now I own the head, and the armor from that release (from two different sellers) and I just got my best friend his grail dolls head for his birthday, a Supia Rosy.

 

Mine was a Soom Galena, thanks to another DoA member. I have her with Beryl hooves, which is what I wanted instead of the bird feet. It did take a couple of years to find her!

 

My grail is Dollfie Dream Yuki Morikawa. Sooooo expensive, but one day...


Others on my want list that don't quite reach grail status are DD Sakuno, DOI Luke, several RS elf sculpts for projects, and Volks Rinon.

I could include DDs Akira, Airy, Saber, and Melty as grails, but I have the luck of having gotten them without too much struggle, for which I'm grateful.
