1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What new skills have you gained through owning BJDs?

Apr 26, 2011

    1. Wanting to communicate with other doll folks on line has forced me to improve my computer skills & photography. For example, I spent quite a while this weekend learning how to manipulate a collage on photobucket & then that long again figuring out how to download photos to an album on my profile here.
In the past I would get frustrated & give up. But now, I'm willing to keep trying until it works as its so much fun to share photos with fellow enthusiasts here!
And making those collages, reviewing the last 4 years of my doll collection, reminded me just how much my photography of dolls has improved as well!
Now as to the dolls themselves, my confidence in simple maintenance & basic customization has grown by leaps this last year. I'll deal with elastic & restringing, hot gluesueding, simple sanding & resin matching for switching body parts now, as well as replacing eyelashes & resetting eyes . Last year I'd only attempt these things with a friend at hand & the year before I'd only watch while someone else did it for me!

    2. Sadly, the only skill I've learned is to spend a lot of money rapidly. I tried face-ups, but the results were horrific. This summer, my goal will be to learn more about photography - hopefully that won't be a disaster too.
