It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What size doll do you prefer?

Mar 14, 2025

    1. I love anything from 1/12 to 1/4. The sizing of the 1/12 and 1/8 is great for carrying around and dressing, 1/6 is the easiest for me to find clothes and patterns for, and 1/4 has a more mature look without being too big for me to hold.

    2. Now I have a 1/4 carry case I think 1/4 is easier to handle out and about

    3. I’m in the All Sizes Baby, Camp. My crew ranges from Owen, Volks Yo Sd (26.5 cm) up to Lucius, my 80 cm Soom Mecha Angel.

I craft for my crew and photograph them, so my favorite size is the doll I’m working with in the moment. how my hands are feeling, how cooperative the doll is feeling, how much effort do I want to put into lens choice, scale, forced perspective.

    4. I have had a lot of experience with the hobby in the past (though I only have one doll as of yet), and I find that 1/4 size is just perfect for me. It doesn't feel like it's too small or too big (although I do love the adorable tinies and the beautiful 1/3s), they are easy to hold and (from what I've seen) usually right in the middle pricewise too!

    5. Over the past almost 20 years this has changed MANY times. I started off with general SD and MSD sizes but gradually faded from the MSD range (a lot!). then I was very much in the Tinies range (so they could fit my miniature doll houses). Then it went back to SD size. Then it went to the Big Baby size which I'm still firmly in. Although I still add all sizes to my collection, as I "buy what I like" even if they are only going to be pretty shelf dollies (I have a lot of those, mostly play line dolls but they make me immensely happy when I look at them or rearrange their displays)

    6. I'm very committed to 1/3 size at this point. My ideal range is 55-65cm - I have a couple of dolls that will be larger, but they aren't what I gravitate towards. I love the size of my 57cm girls most. The 70cm+ boys are simply too large for me, which is a shame because they're gorgeous!

    7. 1/3 and tinies. I like the mature realistic look of the 1/3s and how much easier it is for clothes to scale right, and the fantasy tinies and how cute they look with props and their environment. Sometimes I wonder if I had gotten in a smidge later I would have gotten in on the mature 1/4 train instead of 1/3, but most times when I look at 1/4 I still prefer the dolls I have.

    8. I just received my first doll a couple of days ago. She's a SartoriaJ 1/3.

I initially went in with a "go big or go home" mentality because I've collected a few 1/12 blind box figures and had been waiting on some 1/6 off-topic dolls before I delved into BJDs. 1/4 seemed to me like a minor step up from 1/6 scale at the time. Maybe I wanted my first "serious" doll to have the gravitas she deserves since she is a very precious OC to me.

However, as I'm waiting for another 1/3 to arrive to me, the scale's largeness is a point of contention as I try to figure out the best way to display both dolls side by side while simultaneously preserving their longevity. I still wonder what if I had purchased the same sculpts in their 1/4 versions instead.

The one sure positive of owning 1/3 scale for me at least, is more variety of clothes and shoes to my liking. SartoriaJ's dolls have fuller bodies and bigger feet and I'm not so sure the 1/4 scale has as many similar-fit options. Regardless, given some time when I finally complete my setup, I think my doubts will be cleared.

    9. I started with 1/3.
After a few years, I discovered 1/4 and really like that size. For a short time, I also tried 1/6. To keep the chaos of clothes and wigs under control, I sold everything except 1/4. It stayed that way for many years.
Only recently, I couldn't resist one, or rather two, 1/5 dolls and bought them. And while I was at it, I'll also get a 1/6 doll. We'll see how it goes.

    10. 1/4 dolls for me, easily. They are much easier to pose in my opinion. They are also easier for any sort of travel purposes!

    11. I prefer 1/3 the most but have also gotten into 70cm as long as they aren't too buff (though I do have one really beefy guy haha)

    12. I honestly don't know! I have a 68 cm right now, and my second one coming is about 26 cm- so we'll see.

    13. I've found that i prefer the really short side of the 1/3 scale, like 50-55 cm.

    14. When I first got into the hobby I strongly preferred 1/3 scale, but over time I gravitated more towards 1/4 and now I have mostly 1/4 scale dolls and only two 1/3!

    15. I have small dolls so a Yosd size would be ideal. I would like to have an MSD one day. They feel very good when I went to conventions that had them on display or they brought them as part of their cosplay. The even bigger dolls, I am not sure since those are so much bigger, but not opposed to them.
