1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What was the first sculpt you could recognize?

Dec 29, 2013

    1. Probably Resinsoul Long or Mei, because when I first got into the hobby I was looking at Resinsoul/Bobobie the most carefully. Mei is very common and Long is pretty distinctive-looking. I like to think I'm pretty good at recognizing specific sculpts, even if I don't always remember the name. (Oh, it's one of THOSE. Yeah, THAT GUY. -scratches head-)

    2. For me I think it was Fairyland, particularly Puki Ante, because at the time I was really into Pullips and followed someone who had a bunch on Instagram who got that sculpt of Puki. I had heard of BJDs before but didn't know much at that time. And that face was so identifiable that it was easy to remember and recognize elsewhere :)

    3. Soom Dia, probably because I really don't like the sculpt's mouth. And they show up everywhere! /sigh

    4. Probably Delf El since I saw so many of them, or Minifee Shiwoo since the person that got me into the hobby had one. Nowadays, once I see a sculpt once or twice I can usually pick it out in pictures. Except Volks sculpts, I still don't have a handle on those at all.

    5. the first company i knew was doll zone , but actually the fist sculpt i know was luts-el

    6. Honestly it depends on the sculpt and if it has been molded to change its main characteristics. But your right, at first all bjd looked the same to me ( meaning they where different but i could not tell what company made them ). I gues the first doll i began to recognize where the doll chateaus( for their peculiar bodies ) and the migidolls ( for their beutiful faces :D)

    7. I can recognize pretty much all of the older DOD sculpts because it was the first company I knew, and I find some Soom, Iplehouse, and Elfdoll sculpts to be pretty easy to recognize because they look so human. Most CP sculpts I find difficult to tell apart.

    8. The first company that I could recognise easily was iplehouse, but not distinctively differentiate one sculpt from another. But the first sculpt that I could recognise were the unoas!

    9. Elfdoll Soah. Nearly bought her then had second thoughts. I ended buying a Fairyland Ltf Shiwoo.

    10. I'm getting better in recognizing particular sculpts but I recall clearly it was FL MNF Chloe I remembered immediately. :) And just on contrary - I love FL MNF Shushu sculpt but she's like a chameleon, so many looks, so different and always beatiful and I'm completely lost. :) It was last week I asked about a particular face and guess what - yes, Shushu again! :-D

    11. I can insta-recognize any Dream of Doll or Immortality of Soul doll. :D Fairyland and Doll-Zone are getting easier to recognize, company wise, not individual dolls. But the first sculpts were DoD Sha, Only-Doll Yi Feng, and DZ Yuu (he was my first so...)

    12. For me it was the Migidoll Ryu and the fairyland chloe.:)

    13. I still can't recognize most sculpts, even my personal favorites!
Well, I can tell them apart company-wise, but not individual molds. Never!
Actually, I have some problems recognizing most (live) people faces... even those whom I've known for long.

    14. Luts Kid delf Yul was the first because it was the first one who caught my eye when I got into the hobby and was looking for my 1st doll. After that I learned to identify many of the Minifees.

    15. The first sculpt I could instantly recognize was a Soom Heliot (and I don't even own one). When I went to my first meetup several years ago, I saw MissGaGa's Heliot in person and could recognize another Heliot from a mile away. I can tell most Minifees apart from one another but I can't always tell you the specific sculpt. My first doll was a Resinsoul Yao so she's easy to spot. Dream of Doll is easy to recognize as a company for me, not necessarily individuals.

      Most Volks dolls look very similar to me - I have a hard time telling them apart. ;;

    16. Bobobie Apollo. My first doll was a BBB Apollo and I could spot that nose and weirdly-spaced eyes anywhere.

    17. I am really great at recognizing MNF Chloe sculpt and the Unoa sculpts. The first sculpt I learned was MNF Juri 11. That is only because I really wanted one.

    18. It really depends on the sculpt. The first I could recognize was Rhubarbe from Noble Dolls since I have one, then the mnf Chloe because she is really popular but always so pretty !

    19. I am still learning but I think the first I knew make it was a minifee chloe.

    20. Doll Chateau Alberta. Very distinctive, lol
