1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What would you do if Den of Angels shut down permanently?

Mar 23, 2015

    1. I would be disappointed, because I think this forum is a great resource and a neat community.

Life would go on, though. Over the years I've gotten used to the fact that nothing on the internet is permanent, and it's best to just enjoy it while it lasts and then move on to new things when it's gone.

    2. That would be problematic for me, I've found lots of info here that I haven't seen anywhere else. I'd probably try to save as much of it as I could but other than that I'd probably shrug and keep on going. I haven't really been here long enough for it to effect me greatly. As nice as it is, here, mind you.

    3. I would be so upset. After all, I just joined! I suppose I would move to find another forum to indulge my dolly desires.

    4. I felt a little bit of pain just reading this. It would be horrible, because if you can't order new dolls for yourself, the next best thing is to drool over other people's dolls in the Doll Arrival area ! :daisy

    5. I'd be pretty bummed. Aside from some BJD groups on other social media sites, this is where I go for dolly hobby interaction, this site also has a wealth of information in a single place. DoA has been an invaluable tool for me when getting into this hobby, and I am still learning. I'd hate to have to go searching again for a place as handy as this one.

    6. I'd probably be more active on the international facebook bjd Groups instead. ^^'
I'd miss the order of topics etc. though ^^'

    7. I would probably cry... I love thecommunity... I bought my dolls here... I meet people here... I find new stuff everyday

    8. I guess I'd move to whatever Forum replaced it, because there would be one, for sure. Back in the early days, there was another forum that was the "main" one. We migrated to DOA from it :)

    9. That would be such a bummer. The first thing I did when I ordered my first doll back in 2007 was join DoA and though I don't participate as much in conversations here as I used to, I'd miss it. I have lots of fond memories here.

    10. I wouldn't cry, but I would miss it. DoA is my "go to" whenever I'm researching something. The amount of info here is staggeringly vast and easy to find. The MP is another facet I would miss. The MP here feels safer than say, Ebay. I also like the way the MP is structured; makes finding something in particular a lot simpler.

I'd also miss the galleries, the photostories, the news. Seeing people's box openings, their project journals. Some of the game threads, too. The waiting rooms help ease long waits, and the way people here are so helpful when you have a question is wonderful. It's a huge community, so someone out there always has the answer. DoA has a very definite, important niche in this hobby. While it's loss wouldn't sink the hobby, it would hamstring it some.

Maybe I would cry a little if DoA went under. I would be a bit sad at the idea of such a treasure trove of information being lost, and years of effort from so many people gone.

    11. It would be sad. DoA has alot of useful information, user galleries and tutorials. But I would probably move on and find another forum.

    12. It would completely change the way I participate in this hobby. Loss of the incredible marketplace here would likely keep me from purchasing many/any more dolls at all except from companies or through people I know personally. I think my focus as a whole would shift onto my own enjoyment of my own dolls, which would be refreshing for a short while, I suppose, but it could also represent a loss of inspiration and incentive to improve. (Though - I might spend less time scrolling around and more time in the sewing room...)

I like the forum format. I don't 'do' Tumblr, and my Facebook is clogged enough with groups for the other things I'm a part of. I'd keep in touch with the friends I've made over the years, but I think many of those would fall away as everyone's focus shifted. Some probably couldn't put in the time to participate if information and friendly, like-minded interaction were not as accessible as they are here. Personally, I would still enjoy the dolls I have, but without DoAthey would spend more time on shelves.

That being said, I'm pretty certain if we all suddenly became homeless, it wouldn't be for long. Something similar to DoA would be created, because it's such a useful tool.

    13. I'd be very disappointed, because I tend to alternate between very active in the hobby, and not active at all doing something else. Each time I come back to the hobby, I can always be pretty certain that DOA is still going to be a safe place full of good information to help me get back up to speed. If it weren't here to come back to, I probably wouldn't bother with any other community, either.

    14. Since I am a new member, I'd cry pretty hard and search for a new forum. I love DOA. There are so many nice and helpful people :)

    15. DOA is really important to me. I just can't imagine the bjd hobby without this forum. I've been a member for 8 years and I've got almost all my dolls here at the marketplace. I consider it a very reliable place with great people and full of amazing information and pics. I never wanna see that time coming. I'm just too grateful to this forum, I really love it. DOA must live forever, yay!

    16. Facebook is a fine alternative.

    17. Why would Den of Angels ever close in the first place? It doesn't have a lack of activity, and all the comments I see are generally very nice and not mean. If it did close down though I would probably be sad and then have to resort to finding another website like Den of Angels.

    18. I've learned so much from DoA I would be absolutely devastated if it closed down. It is pretty much the main source of BJD info out on the internet.

    19. Be super upset, try to deal with it and find another place for BJD info. This is the main place for the BJD community on the internet where we can all get together. Plus I just got here!! :XD:
