1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What's your fave part abt the BJD hobby?

Jul 29, 2015

    1. I think my favourite part might be shelling the characters i've created, as i've always been into giving life to them in a way or the other, like drawing or writing something short. Having them sitting on my desk is really...nice, makes me feel warm inside.
I also like that i got to learn new skills, like sewing!

    2. I think my favourite part is being able to customise the dolls. Other people can have the same sculpt with out them looking the same.

    3. Just having the dolls is my favorite part, but also the art aspect and the immense variety not just of companies and sculpts and styles and sizes but of individual dolls.

On the one hand we might have a brown-haired, brown-eyed Iowan preschooler in 2015 with an Elmo shirt and a tiny school backpack full of real books. On the other, a 6000-year-old demon-angel hybrid with an unpronounceable name, foot-long white hair, realistic insect wings, pupil-less eyes and a hand-constructed outfit made only of antique fabrics. They're both made from the same base doll and they both look great. That's one of the most entertaining things about looking at other people's dolls. The versatility is wild.

    4. Seeing the creativity of the sculptors by looking at dolls, new and old. Seeing the evolution of the artist's style, and how the bjd market has influenced the styles of the different companies. I love looking at the progression of dolls from a company's first couple dolls to their newest event doll and saying "wow, they've really developed." I liked it when sites put the name of the sculptor and face up artist with the promo pictures. I would love to know how many designers Fairyland has, and which designs are by which artists. One of my favorite things to do is follow bjd artists on Instagram so I can see their progress photos and read their inspirations and ideas. I really love my girls, too, and feel so much joy every time I look at them. I really don't think I'd sell them, even if I was in financial trouble. Of course, I'd have less financial trouble if I'd stop buying dolls...

    5. My favorite part so far has been making new friends

    6. My favorite part about the hobby would be that it allows me to be creative. I love being able to make props and clothes for my dolls and that I am able to make me dolls look just the way that I want. I also love to look at what everyone else has done with there dolls.

    7. Obviously the amazing dolls!
But aside from that I really love the talented and friendly people in the community and all the pretty clothes!:D

    8. Personally, my favorite things about this hobby are creating fantasy characters and making them look life-like in pictures. I love admiring them in person and seeing their personalities. It is a unique hobby that I feel so thankful to be apart of; these dolls have brought me so much enjoyment and happiness!

    9. The tiny clothing. I don't like baby clothing but the tiny little doll clothing. Yeeeeessssss! I love the amount of detail people can put into something SO SMALL. Tiny furniture, tiny mugs, tiny pets. Accessories so small. Ah I love tiny things!

    10. Be able to create an entire life for a character and have it in your hands, for me the favorite part is creativity.

    11. Well... other than that euphoric moment when you set the box down & start cutting it open... I'd have to say that customizing the doll is a close second! I love shopping...

    12. The dolls and the creative aspect. I love how customizable the dolls are and how easily we can all make our dolls look different even if we have the same head sculpts.

    13. All the inscrutable abbrevs.

    14. The dolls themselves of course! They're constructed so well, they can stand on their own, all while being able to pose. Of course, there's the customization, the crafting, and the sewing too.

    15. I love the artistic photography. I'm not much of a photographer myself, but scrolling through countless professional-looking photographs of BJDs is one of my guilty pleasures. Dolls are so pretty!

    16. Customization and makin friends :XD:

    17. Box openings, customizing and taking photos are the top three things I enjoy the most about this hobby! :)

    18. I like to create clothes as well as customize! Creating props/clothes/etc. is more affordable than the human counterparts so it's also a good opportunity to take things on a "test" run before deciding whether to make a big version or not. :p

    19. My favorite part is probably the very artistic and unusual doll face up and body paints. It definitely is so cool to see more of the interesting designs people come up with

    20. My favorite part of the hobby is getting a doll without makeup. When I try on wigs and eyes and coming up with the image.
