It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. when a doll looks very much like a child is that good or bad?

Jul 11, 2015

    1. I don't mind the realism at all. In fact I'm very intrigued by the degree of realism some people can obtain in this hobby. I can't say I've ever been bothered by the 'Uncanny Valley' phenomenon before. In fact I absolutely adore 'Reborn Baby' dolls because of their realism and I hope to someday own a male child BJD that looks quite realistic. The Iplehouse BID's seem pretty suitable for this.

    2. Personally, I think it's up to the doll lover. After all, the "uncanny valley" is subjective, meaning that what's "too real" to one person might be just fine for another.

My husband's found a lot of the dolls I like to be "creepy," which is why I keep them in a spare bedroom. It was the compromise we worked out; he doesn't have to see those "creepy" dolls, and I have a whole room dedicated to my lovelies, so I can be surrounded by vinyl and resin cuteness! ^^

    3. It doesn't bother me if a doll is very realistic as long as it's done right rather than intended to be very realistic but poorly executed (those tend to be just flat out creepy). It amazes me how lifelike some of them are! I wouldn't own one, because that's just not my cup of tea, but I'm fine with their existence, haha.

    4. I am for the hyper-realistic, or the 95% realistic doll (even with the addition of fantasy parts). I want their skin tones realistic, their nuances almost lifelike, as though they will jump out and breathe any given moment. CHild like dolls, adult dolls... name it. The more realistically rendered - even for all of their quirks and features - the better for me.

    5. I like the realistic effect regardless of age, the 'uncanny valley' is something I quite enjoy - with the added effect of fantasy. I want Fable to still look like a real boy with his constellation freckles, and Hemlock to look like any other 13 year old girl from the waist up.

    6. I don't think it's bad, why should it be bad? it just depends on your tastes....do you like it? it's good then. You don't like it? it's ok that you don't like it.

    7. I don't necessarily find realism to be bothersome. Some childlike dolls look pretty neat! Though I'm not very fond of grinning sculpts.

    8. Extreme realism does not bother me, whether the doll is childlike or adult. Personally I think it's really neat and I try to achieve a sense of realism with each of my dolls.

    9. I haven't really seen a BJD that creeped me out due to being too realistic yet. So either I haven't seen one that was extremely realistic... Or I am fine with it. But reborn dolls are not for me, I can tell you that. ;)

    10. Hmm well there is no boundary to me as long as you realise she is a doll and dont do creepy stuff with them.

i saw this kokonoe rin doll by artetokyo her body is very realistic! That does scare me a little, tho i still want hercause i like her as is. But the fact that she looks very realiatic naked as well is bothersome.. Eventho it does give her that realistic feeling.

I just wouldnt show that off to others id be ashamed of that fact ^^" and people would probably think im a creep xD
