1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

When you don't feel the need to buy more - When the bjd hobby just stagnates ? What have you done ?

Apr 24, 2019

    1. I’m to the point of not wanting any more bjds and the ones I have are close to being finished. I might want to update my crew as I see better clothing or accessories, but it’s not a priority anymore. I just like seeing other’s dolls and their journey now. I have decided to go back to my first love, dollhouses and focus on that hobby more, and save money! I’ve spent way too much on bjds, and need a break!

    2. to regain my love for them I give them a spa! (new face up, restringing, blushing). It has worked for me but it's usually after taking a long break. You shouldn't force yourself to work on them and like them, take a break and after awhile look at your dolls to see if your love to at least work on them comes back, good luck!

    3. When interest wanes, I just kind of...wait. I've gone through periods that have lasted for as much as a year where I didn't really look at my dolls, much less do anything for them or buy new ones. Apparently absence really does make the heart grow fonder, though, because after awhile, something in me inevitably starts to miss the hobby, and I'll begin to poke my head in at DoA to see what's new and what people are talking about. It doesn't take long before I'm back to being fully involved...until once again other aspects of my life distract me far more than dolling can. Then the cycle starts all over again. :sweat

    4. There's nothing wrong with taking a break from the hobby for a while. Sometimes I come back with a re-energized focus or a refocused focus after a while. If its no longer fun don't force yourself to do it, then its work not a hobby. A hobby should be fun.

    5. I reached that point, of being happy with my collection, a couple of years ago. I have all the dolls I think I need (besides a couple of limited edition dolls that I like for no particular reason and are impossible to find) and they are mostly complete in terms of clothing and props.
After some time, I started to feel like if I was neglecting the hobby, even more than usual as I'm the kind of keeping-it-to-myself owner. I didn't share many pictures before and even less now though I try to contribute to and keep in touch with the community, specially in this forum.
Now, after 2-3 years of feeling the same towards my collection, I just don't think about it at all. The thing about hobbies is that you can do them your own way.
In my case, I play with my dolls almost every week, changing their clothing, looking at them or taking pictures mostly for myself and I spend some time each day keeping up with the news here and discussing BJD-related stuff.
If there comes a day I want to purchase another doll, great. If not, I'm really happy the way things are now.

    6. I'm almost to that point. I have two more bodies to buy, but the heads haven't come in yet, so I'm not sure which bodies to get. I'm kind of looking forward to having spending money for non-doll stuff again, and these past couple of weeks I've spent on games and things non-doll related (though I'm expecting a shipping notice soon for one of the heads so I should hold off on buying anything else until he gets here and I decide on his body!). Even without dolls to buy, I still sew for them, make wigs, make eyes, take photos, write stories featuring them, modify, do face-ups, etc. I feel like I'll never be 'done'. Sure, things have changed since I was a newbie with a massive wishlist, but I still have plenty to do.

    7. My interest in my hobbies fluctuates. It's normal for me to lose interest in something, and then come back to it full-force a few months later. At this point, I've recognized this as something I can't change, and I trust that the interest returns with time. Thus far, it always has!
