1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

When you were waiting for your FIRST doll...

Oct 3, 2013

    1. Oh I was really excited when I was waiting for my first doll.. I kept buying her clothes, wig and accessories long before she arrived and was always thinking about how her character might be (the ideas changed quite often). And since it was my first DD I wondered if the skin would be soft and how heavy she would be. A big question was, where will I put her as the appartment I share with my boyfriend isn't that big. All those things kept going through my head and when I saw she was shipped I checked the tracking at least 2 times a day and when I received the notice that I have to pick her up from customs I ran there on the same day to get her.

In comparison to this I'm now much more relaxed when I order a doll or parts xD

    2. Well... during the first few weeks I was sort of impatient and kept on looking out the window for mailman to arrive with my package or a notice from the post office... but it mellowed down and I was able to focus on building up my doll's character.

    3. Most of the wait is always easy (I paid my first doll off on a six-month layaway, so I had plenty of time to get used to waiting :XD:), but the last month or so of waiting was much worse with my first doll than with any of my other dolls. I think it was mostly the anticipation of not knowing exactly what to expect with BJDs - how she'd feel, how heavy she'd be, whether I'd like her face-up in person, etc etc etc.

    4. My first doll was a girl MSD. It was excruciating waiting for her to arrive. It was my first year of college and I had been wanting a BJD since middleschool. However, I wanted an SD boy. I'm trying to get him now. It's even worse now that I can finally get him. Just have to find one I can afford and he's all mine. Finally. I've lost sleep over this. I need help. Hahah.

    5. Aaah, I SO need my Fafner home already :( I bought a doll during this waiting time and she's really amazing but Fafner is still THE doll for me and I can't wait to have her here! Haha, I'm glad others seemed to have the same struggle as I do now though so I am not alone. : D

    6. I would say yes, because you don't know what to expect and you don't realise how long a wait you do have to go through. I think, once you've done it once, you know what to expect.

    7. I'm surprised that the USPS site did not have a personal note for me upon entering my EMS tracking #.. bc I kept checking to see where is was.. or to see if there was an update.

I get nervous and can't wait for every doll that I've ordered. :sweat

    8. I am an extremely impatient person, so the wait is killing me. I know that it's not as bad as it could be, especially since Luts seems to be shipping out them out really quickly, but some days are worse than others...I try not to get my hopes up about him coming early so that I'm not disappointed if he doesn't, but it's hard. I don't really think it's going to get any easier, especially with having just ordered a doll from fairyland.
The other problem I'm having with the wait for my first doll is that I'm worried I won't bond with him when he does get here.

    9. The wait wasn't too bad for me… I bought her second hand and had her with me in less than a week. I loved her too pieces and was super excited to have her. I went crazy buying her clothes once she was home. Might have gone a little TOO crazy if I'm honest :sweat

    10. Haha I'm still waiting for my first doll

    11. I'm waiting on my first boy ( he just got shipped hooray! ) but it's been agonizing. ;u; I ordered from dollzone, and it's been very hard three months. I guess the only good thing about having to wait so long is now I'm accustomed to the wait. No matter how hard.
I spent my time shopping for him and looking at sculpts for the other characters I want to shell >u<

    12. A year in the hobby and I have only bought second hand so far. I don't know if I could wait so long for the wait as I've heard from others buying direct. My first BJD I was so excited and only waited a week. The sad part was that it wasn't the size I thought it was so the excitement died right away :(

    13. I constantly checked my ordering status and even when she shipped, I checked tracking every day ^^; I only waited a monthish though, so compared to others, I got off pretty easy when it comes to wait times! :) During the wait, I also ordered a bunch of clothes for her!

    14. I can't truly answer the question, as I do not have a BJD yet, but I am hoping it will be easier for me after I get my first (I have one on layaway, and am chomping at the bit already!). I'm in a mode where I just keep looking at BJD stuff and imagining. Of course, a new limited I desperately comes out right when I am trying to be good just paying off the first one...

    15. Yes! I'm waiting for my first doll now and I just realized it's been a little over a month since I ordered him and he still won't be ready to ship until the end of this month! I'm trying to not think about it, and am hoping that maybe some other things I've ordered for him will get here first... but then what if having his wigs and clothes makes me even more eager and the time go slower?

      The pain is real. ;^;

    16. Yes, for me it was harder waiting for my first doll. I think it was the excitement, uncertainty, and nervousness. Now, I know what to expect and I try not to stalk the website quite as much. For my most recent doll that I'm waiting on, it's been the easiest wait so far. But when I get that shipping notice, I'll check the status every time I sit down on my computer haha.

    17. I'm waiting for my first dolls at the moment. I keep checking at the order status and at my e-mail all the time :) So eventually I bought some eyes too, and they also take a long time, so now I'm kinda like an impatient child who is waiting on his presents.

    18. My first doll was so easy to wait on mostly because I didn't wait on it.

I send the money and thought to myself, maybe I will get the doll, maybe not.

Got a shock when it did arrive, hadn't gotten a single mail since I paid for it.

    19. It was so many years ago but I still remember.^^;; I was checking my email everyday and as the weeks went by, nearing the estimated shipping date, I started checking my email more than once a day.lol it felt like forever. With my next doll it wasn't as bad. My third one I got from a physical store so no waiting was involved. In the end I ended up selling all three, because I failed to bond with them. I was doll-less for about 3 years and thought that was it for me and the doll hobby. But soon I found myself wanting another doll and I can honestly say that waiting for her was like the first doll all over again.XD

    20. No, my first doll did not have the most agonizing wait. For me, the doll with the longest and hardest wait was my sixth. She was a custom order of a doll offered only during a limited period of time, so waiting felt like it was forever. I had other dolls at the time, but I couldn't stop thinking about the one I was waiting for.
