1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

When you were waiting for your FIRST doll...

Oct 3, 2013

    1. Luckily (or unluckily?) I ordered my first doll from junkyspot, so I didn't have to wait long. It was only a pain because every time I heard a car stop, I'd look out the window for the UPS truck with a grin, but then I'd frown because it was only my neighbors.

My current wait for my second and third dolls (ordered together) Feels like forever. D=
And now I'm tempted by a doll here in the mp. *throws up arms *
Just one doll I said, but nooooo, I was wrong.

    2. YES! Absolutely! My first doll was a Luts doll, and I swear, I logged in EVERY day to see if there was any changes on there, even though I knew that the doll would take AT LEAST 36 days to be made. And that's business days, aside from holidays and such, so looking at the site two weeks after ordering her was just absolute pointlessness! Is that even a word? ^^ But yeah, all dolls after that first one have been a much more chill wait. Even though I am superexcited and do check the site and my e-mail often, I know better than to check every single day :)

    3. Oh dear, yes. I bought mine on layaway and waited for him for about 3 months! When they shipped him, he arrived in my country in just 2 days. Too bad out local customs "kidnapped" him as asked for some random. I had to wait for another 2 weeks before I earned enough money to pay the ransom. I wasn't able to sleep properly during those two weeks.

    4. That's horrible, Lucent! I'm glad you finally got him, though.

    5. I bought my first doll on Ebay, so waiting was not an issue. What made me a bit nervous was the fact I just dropped a ton of money, and there was the chance I would not like the doll or the hobby. Luckily the doll is still with me, and I still enjoy the hobby. :D

    6. I am currently waiting on my first doll and its been just over 2 months, I'm going up the wall crazy!

    7. It was hard waiting for my first doll, since the company takes 2 months to make it.
I even did an impulse buy waiting for my first doll. I got a Mnf Chloe off the market place. Oops haha

    8. I am currently waiting on my first doll and the wait is killing me. I keep browsing doll websites and searching the tags on flickr and tumblr. I keep looking at stuff to buy for her and it just make me want her that much more and on top of that I bought her through a dealer which means a longer wait.:...(

    9. To be honest it really wasn't for me because my first doll purchase ended up a bit idfferent from how I imagine most purchases work. I purchased my Iplehouse Chase, paid for him and expected to wait quite a while. However three days after ordering I got my shipping notice so apparently he was in stock. So you could say that the dolls after him have been more difficult since they didn't ship instantly ;)

    10. Actually it's been way worse waiting for every doll after my first doll.
My first doll came from Volks which had 2 Day ground shipping so I didn't have to wait that long.

That being said, though, now that I know how awesome bjd are, it's even harder to wait!

    11. It was hard for me too to wait for my first doll. I ordered him from a German dealer and had to waited 4 months (+ face up time) before he arrived to me. :) But I'm never regret to get him and actually between his arrival, I did sew a lots of clothing and order some for him. So I can say...It was hard for waiting him but also enjoying to do something between that long waiting time. ;)

    12. Unfortunately the wait for my second doll wasn't noticed at all. I'm sure I would have been just as excited and anxious had I not had a medical emergency around that time, forcing me to take a long hiatus during his wait.

    13. My first doll took around a month and a half, which isn't bad at all compared to some of my more recent wait times! I did commission his clothes during that time so they weren't /too/ far apart, as far as I can remember. As for the others, second doll was in stock, third was from the marketplace (so shipped right away), fourth took a month or so after layaway, fifth was from the marketplace, sixth took six months, seventh was from the marketplace, eighth was also from the marketplace, and I'm still waiting on one who has shipped which at this point will have been five months, and another who has not shipped yet and is going on either 7 or 8 months. Truly a test of patience. (I see people [rightfully] complain about 4 month wait times for certain companies and I'm over here like "please give me that instead I beg you")

It is much easier waiting for dolls when you already have a few to keep you company. A lot of dolls I purchased or started layaways for at different times during the year all seem to have arrived in the span of a few weeks this summer, though, so with all these box openings so close together I almost feel bad that I'm not spending such a long "new doll" period with each of them ^^;; (totally worth it though when I set them all up together in a big group!)

    14. The wait for my first doll wasn't long or hard at all (I realise that now) Turned out he was in stock, got shipped right away and I had him within 3 weeks. Actually two, but I had to wait a week for another delivery round from the evil postal service.
Waiting now has become a lot more difficult. Anxiously waiting for a shipping notice atm, checking the internet page at least once a day :sweat But I have to say, waiting usually isn't that hard. I have a lot of other things to keep me occupied.

    15. Waiting is a pain, that hasn't changed. ^^;
When I was waiting for my first doll it was only 5 weeks until she was here from the day I ordered her.
I'm now waiting much longer for any doll.

    16. I just received my first doll 2 days ago. I'd never actually seen any BJD's in real life before she arrived. I'd paid her off over 4 months. It was kinda hard waiting cause when you see measurements on paper it's just not the same as holding and touching in person. My biggest trouble was buying clothes for her since I didn't have a good idea of her body size and what would look good. Now that I have her and actually have a visual of BJD's in real life, I think it will be easier for me to purchase another one in the future. Does any of that make sense? I tend to ramble on ;)

    17. I recently ordered my first BJD after 3 years of wanting one. After all that patience, when I finally found the one I knew I wanted to make part of my life, I expected to wait at least a month for her to arrive, and even 1 month didn't seem too bad.
For me, the hardest part of the waiting was the period of making up my mind to make the purchase.

When I finally committed to the order, I found myself excitedly peeking at her photos every day, practicing making clothes for her, and thinking up names. I could have easily kept my mind busy for the month that I was expecting to wait.
She arrived on day 9. NINE..!?! From the "Add To Cart" button, to prepared in the artist's studio in Korea, to my door - 9 days. Blown. Away.
This is nothing like any BJD shipping story I've read from others. I imagine if I ever buy another doll / from anyone other than OceanMoon, the wait is gonna be much harder than this.
They have spoiled a newbie. Dangerous thing to do. :XD:

    18. Oh heavens yes it was, though I have to say I had my second doll picked out nearly five minuets after I clicked the buy button on my first. Making "welcome home" clothing and things really helped me with the 4 month long waiting process. :)

    19. I'd also say no. I'm ALWAYS a nerve wreck when waiting for a doll. I actually think it's become a bit harder now because I've read about people who has received broken dolls and such - stuff that feeds my imagination with paranoia XD

    20. I can't say if the first doll is harder than the following ones but I'm currently searching out which doll I shall buy as my very first. Let me tell you, just the search alone is nerve-wrecking. I want a doll and I want it now~! I want to play with her, dress her and be all happy about it. Knowing I'll probably have to wait 2+ months after I order here is already a nightmare so I'm also searching the secondhand market for a little girl. If nothing will be found there then a long anxious wait it shall be...
