1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

When you were waiting for your FIRST doll...

Oct 3, 2013

    1. It's actually gotten harder over time for me.... my first doll I only waited 2 months and for the most part most of the wait times have been similar. The hardest wait ever was 9 months for my Loongsoul Jingling (he was worth it though! but no updates was so hard I almost cancelled the order!)

    2. YES. I waited for my first doll from company for 1,3 year, because Russian ems lost it :E it arrived from Korea for 5 days and more than year from Moscow to suburbs of Moscow. It was unforgettable experience.
Actually it was doll number 5: first 2 I bought in physical shop and two from another owners in my country.

    3. I'm finding that it's actually a lot more difficult to wait for my current doll, who I love to pieces. The first two were spontaneous purchases that I liked, but didn't love, so the wait was more along the lines of 'buy it, and forget it'.

    4. My first doll was actually secondhand, but yes, just the week and a half wait was bad. I just wanted her to be here. Then the first doll I pre-ordered got caught in Fairyland's backlog last year, so she took almost five months to get here.

It does get easier when you've got other dolls to play with while you're waiting, though. :)

    5. No, not at all. My first dolls were the easiest for me. I had no idea if this was even going to be a hobby I ended up enjoying, but I bought them clothes, eyes and wigs while I waited. I actually forgot about them until I got my notification that they had arrived. I WAS very impatient at that point, because I had opted for pickup and had to wait a couple days for the shop to open.

All my other waits have been months of me staring at company photos of the doll I ordered and wondering why I spend money on things I have to wait for. I want my doll NOW.

    6. Not really, because I got her from ebay and they had it in stock. That was probably one of my shortest waits.
She also had to wait a bit before be complete as I got head and body separately.
At first I told myself I was only going to have a head, to practice having one in that size (as I was also trying to make one) but that changed as soon as I got it.

Back then the hobby was still quite new, I didn't know of DoA and had no idea where to buy her stuff. So I got some eyes on ebay and commissioned a dress and a wig from local collectors. I did her faceup myself and took me years to find her shoes...
Now I'm finally revamping her look and buying her better stuff :)

    7. Yes and no. My first was to be a blank 03 DD head and and DDdy body, plus eyes and a wig, and I would do her faceup and clothes myself. So I was going to have nearly instant gratification. But unfortunately even though the body said in stock and my order went through, they contacted me to say they were actually out of them, and DDII bodies as well, so they'd refund me and I'd have to wait for the next shipment. The next shipment came, and no DD parts. I waited for the next next shipment, so it was a bit over two months that I waited for a body to come in stock. At the time I wasn't on any forums and I didn't know there was a Volks International, plus I didn't have my PayPal fully set up and verified. However I was a bit distracted as I was busy closing on a house and moving at the time. Her head came to my old apartment and her body came to my new house.

My second girl was a similar purchase but this time everything was in stock so she came very quickly. My third was a lottery win so there was a three month wait while she took the slow boat from Asia. But my longest wait to date was for the KosMos preorder, that was over a year. Is it any easier to wait now? It depends on my mood. Sometimes I am quite patient, especially if I know I have a wait. But when something should reach me relatively quickly I'm super impatient, like rawr why isn't it Tuesday yet?!

    8. Yes, it definitely was. One, because it was my first BJD and I didn't really know what to expect. Two, because nearly ALL of my subsequent BJDs were bought secondhand. The wait time is extremely insignificant in comparison, heh.

    9. I'm in the middle of my first wait right now. I have the three I ordered first and together during an event. That was about a month ago, and every day I check to see if there's any change. I have other things to worry about right now or I'm sure I'd been worrying about it more than I am.

I also have another doll put on layaway. She was discontinued, and I feel more calm and patient about her so far. Knowing that one of the remaining ones is mine and that I'll get her after a set number of months is enough for now.

    10. Getting my first doll was torture lol The waiting makes you nuts! All you can think is dolly. I also shopped and made my doll cloths to keep myself entertained. As someone else said, "when you find out that its been shipped", that's when you really go nuts lol Good luck on your new dolly. Hope you get her home soon:)
