1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. For me close first, when I bought Helios I started buying close since I had a long wait and so he wouldn't run around naked.
Then I started buying SD clothes and a wig, knowing Crescent was next by the time she got here she had a few good number of clothes.

    2. Always dolls first. Like has been mentioned, you don't know a doll's style until they arrive at your home and have had time to settle in. Maybe some pre-planned characters can do that, but often dolls have minds of their own and will throw those plans out the window.

I don't have a lot of clothes for my dolls, they're fun for photoshoots, but the dolls can only wear one outfit at a time, and since I spend most of my time not taking pictures..it makes sense to have a lot of dolls with not a ton of outfits.

    3. I bought the doll first but the clothes still came before. I bought the clothes mainly because DOD is never in stock x_X; otherwise I would have waited, luckily his style is quite diverse, it's really quite nice.

    4. My boy came with his default clothes, so it's a lost case.

But I'm planning to get clothes first for my future dolls, so that they can be in character by the time they arrives!~ When Fuu first arrives, he has been Yukinojou for quite a few months before his clothes and wigs comes into place :doh

    5. I bought my first doll first, then 3 wigs.

    6. Well, I bought the doll first. Then bought clothes. Then sold the clothes to get the new body. And now she has no clothes again! lol.

    7. I'm buying at almost the same time.

I sent a check out for clothes from WeLoveDolls.com, and I'm waiting for that; and I'm waiting for my "proxy buyer" to contact me again so I can send her the money order and she can buy my doll from Volks in LA.

    8. I am a tragic fabric hoarder, I make most of my own clothes and can't bear to part with lovely offcuts, so I get the doll and then make clothes particularly for that doll

I alnos make my own doll shoes.....so yeah, generally doll first, though I have new ones coming at christmas and I decided to buy them boots, so those did get here first

    9. Doll first. I can't imagine buying clothes first. That's kind of like buying furniture for a house I don't live in yet. XD (Then again, I remember buying baby stuff while I was still pregnant. =3 But dolls aren't babies, so... XD )

    10. But I still think doll is the soul.

    11. i got my mini's first, then I started making them clothes, but now i'm saving for my sd13 FCS and I already picked out and bought the the perfect wig, glass eyes, outfit, shoes, accessories, and furniture for her..and the doll room might be done b4 i get her too :sweat all her stuff will be here and set up before I even place the order to get her :| :doh .... hehe if only i'd stop buy her stuff then i could save up for her sooner.

    12. Well, I handled it by buying my doll first, but then while I was waiting for him to arrive I bought a ton of clothes, both online and in person at the Volks stores, so that by the time he actually arrived home he already had a varied wardrobe to fit into. Same with wigs and eyes: while I tend to order my boys first, I tend to buy their other parts in the period when I'm waiting for them to arrive.

The only exception to this rule is my next boy: he's not being ordered until June, but partly because I'm excited to be getting him, partly because his eyes needed to be specially ordered and take around 4 months to arrive, and because his hair is a funny shade that will probbly need to be custom-made as well, I'm getting his other things before I order him. That's definitely the exception rather than the rule, though.

    13. Ordering them came first; buying them clothes came while waiting (well, in Rui's case, not in Kiriyama's). Since Ruiya's an FCS, there was a lovely waiting-time window before he actually arrived where I could recover from the initial spending and then stock up on clothing.

...though, if you wanted to be completely technical, I ordered his wheelchair before his clothing. XDD

    14. When I ordered my first doll and had to, well, wait like forever, I bought so much clothes during the waiting period that she had a whole wardrobe before she actually got here. ^__^

    15. i bought doll clothes first. After hearing teen trends clothes fit, i ran to toys r us and bought 2 outfits. At the time, i thought i was getting a nara, but then changed my mind to an ani. :)

    16. I bought my first doll before clothes, though he came with an outfit. However, once I ordered him, my self-control went down the drain and I bought him stuff. Now I like to know I at least have something to put on their bodies before they get here (though my guys do share a lot of stuff).

    17. Clothes first, it makes the wait for getting the doll home a little less nerve-wrecking. I had one outfit for Chris and Lucas before either one arrived, and actually the day after I joined DoA I bought the eyes. So I had those first technically!

Right now I've got Quinn's shoes, and a skirt on the way. Still need to get eyes, wig, shirt, and random little things for her. But she probably won't be here before May, but she'll have everything she needs when she comes home! :)

    18. Doll first, then clothes. But I had fabrics ready beforehand, so I could quickly sew him something!

    19. I have always purchased clothes prior to any arrival. In the most recent cases, I have even purchased clothes before even ordering the doll.

    20. Technically, it was head, then body, then clothes!
