1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I buy dolls first, then, while waiting, I might (or might not) buy shoes / wigs / eyes for them and in the meantime I make clothes for them myself. I never buy any clothes for my dolls.

    2. I usually buy the dolls first, although I kind of have a stockpile available now. In general unless it's a fullset doll I wait until I've figured out their characters to start making/getting them clothes.

    3. I buy the doll first! Then I will search all over the net to find nice dresses, wigs, eyes, shoes...etc. Like massive shopping until I realised that I have used 1/2 month of my salary and I got shocked and stopped buying till the next impulse comes

    4. I bought my boy first, together with his wig, eyes and a pair of shoes. I'd planned to buy his clothes afterwards but it never happened. Then I got some really clothes for him at my birthday, from a dear friend, that he's had up until now.

So uh.. I haven't really bought any clothes for him, myself yet..!

    5. I ordered my doll during a convention and I just happened to find a booth that had a few doll clothes. They also just happened to have a dress for 1/3 girls! I bought the dress and had been waiting for what felt like forever for my girl to get here! By the time she got here, she had two dresses and a pink wig ready for her, haha. I'm SO happy, because the dress I got first fits perfectly! For my boy, I had never bought any for him, but he only seems to want to wear his default clothes anyway. So for my girl, yes, I got her clothes before I ever actually saw or held her for the first time. For my boy, no.

    6. I bought the doll first, mostly; head, then eyes and a shirt and a couple of other little things; then the body. :3

    7. I bought my doll first, but had some ideas on what I might buy for it but then my plans changed so I'm glad I waited.
I think I will continue to buy the doll first then, the rest of what it needs.
Though, I have already started making furniture for my doll and she isn't here yet, if that counts.

    8. clothes waaaaaaaaaaaay before doll
my girl had some clothes (which isn't being used because I don't like it for her anymore), props, spare hands, eyes waiting for her here years before I ordered her.

    9. With Vince, I bought his wig and some clothes before I bought him-- I happened to find the perfect wig before I was ready to order him, and I bought a couple little things for him ahead of time at a convention where there were a couple BJD clothes vendors in the artists' alley. And I made him a pair of leggings before he arrived using a pattern. They wound up fitting pretty darn well.

Pete and Billy came with some things, but I bought Pete's wig and eyes ahead of time. I also plan to order some things to come with my first girl, just so she's not bald and naked while I work on her wardrobe. I like to sew things myself, though I'm not brilliant at it.

    10. I try to at least know which sculpt I'm getting first. After I know which one I'm getting I then start thinking about what outfit to get them. I just need to have something to work with first.

    11. For my first I bought the doll first but ive started to buy the clothing ahead of time now, One thing I always do last for some reason is shoes D: one of my boys is still shoeless lol

    12. I got my doll first, clothes later. When I got my very first doll from Volks, I thought they would at least include white pajama set like the ones in the pictures. It wouldn't cost that much just to include very basic shirt and pants. I hope BJD companies that would include some very basic outfit for the doll :(

    13. When I ordered her, I ordered her first and then her clothes. I had already had plenty of times to pick out her clothes. So maybe it would be clothes first?

    14. The doll, since he was only a head. My second boy also. I did get a wig though, but since I didn't have enough for good clothes, I decided to make some myself.

    15. If I am not buying a full set doll (4 of my girl were), I pick out everything for the doll at the time of purchase/pre-order: wig style and colour, eye colour, outfit(s), socks, shoes, the whole nine yards. Now I have changed my mind about wigs and eyes after the doll has arrived, but I always have something for them when they arrive.

    16. i've tried to order the doll and clothes at the same time, cause the doll normally takes longer than the clothes...but if they arrive before their clothes then i just make them something to pull on...just so i don't have a nude dolly embarrassing my other dolls of the opposite gender...

    17. for my first I bought the doll, then went clothes shopping. Now it seems to be the other way around. I already have outfits and finding the "perfect" items for a doll i don't own yet. :sweat

    18. Usually, Doll First, then clothes.

      BUT, I've done all three!

    19. I dunno if I count, since I make all my clothes myself.
But with my very first doll, I didn't make anything for her to wear until after she arrived because I'm not very good at making clothes from just measurements.
I did however make sure she had good eyes, wig and shoes to wear before she arrived :)

    20. For my first doll I had only a wig when he arrived, so he spent his first days in my house wearing my t-shirt as a dress:blush... But my second doll will arive with his outfit included (and boots, and wig)!
