1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. As soon as I'd ordered my first doll I started buying her clothes and accessories. So I'd technically bought the doll first, but her clothes started arriving before she did. It helped me survive the waiting period, being able to take out the clothes and shoes, and teddies (she needed toys too!) and imagine her holding and wearing them.

    2. When I first got into BJDs, I would buy the clothes and doll at the same time. But over time I've started to buy the doll first then buy clothes (it depends though). If I already have some clothing that might fit a new doll then I'm in no hurry to buy clothing. I can buy stuff I like later. But I really don't like having a naked doll sitting around so if I don't have clothing that might fit him/her then I usually try to buy at least something basic for them to wear when I buy them.

    3. I definitely try to get the doll before the clothes!!

    4. I buy the doll first but still looking around for clothes and so on for it till the doll arrives.

    5. I had bought my doll as a full set, so it came with clothes. I wish that I bought more clothes for her before she came, though. I don't even use the set outfit anymore, and I only have one outfit that I like on her.

maybe if I get a second doll, I will learn from my mistake.

    6. After I ordered my doll , I took all of my money left and ordered some clothes , boots and wig for him . The clothes will arrive today or next week and I still waiting for my doll . I wish he will arrive next month , he is my first doll ad I can't wait to see him soon.

    7. I buy my dolls first then I buy the clothes. Sometimes the doll has arrived before the clothes, sometimes the clothes arrived before the doll. Two dolls had to be there first for me to know which clothes to buy/make for them.

    8. always the doll first, but the cloths usually arrived the earliest . and the last thing is the eyes

    9. After I bought my doll I usually buy the clothes immediately after so hopefully they can arrive at the same time (I've never ordered straight from a company so I never had to wait long periods). Naked, bald, and eyeless dolls aren't exactly my forte, nor my family's, so it's in my best interest that I do get them at the same time.

    10. I buy my doll first and I then buy my clothes/ start looking for them straight afterwards because I don't want my doll being naked when he arrives.

    11. I bought my doll first then started to make clothes. But having said that I am waiting on another doll to come in the post and I just bought an outfit n which I think it will arrive before I get my doll.

    12. I bought some clothes and a wig first for my doll off of ebay. She was my first doll, and because I didn't have enough money for her yet, I was desperate just to buy something dolly-related. I was really excited when they arrived in the post because they're so small and cute! :)
I ordered a few outfits with my doll as well, but that took me longer to save up, but it was worth it. I was so excited to try on all her clothes the day she arrived.

    13. I ordered my doll first. But I bought some clothes and wigs soon after and some of them arrived before the doll. I also bought some fabrics and stuff before the doll arrived. So technically I bought the doll first but got some stuff before her.

    14. I brought my doll with the company's default outfit and wig because I wanted at least something for her to wear until I sorted out her actual clothes, though due to a little mistake with the order she was naked and bald for the first few days anyway

    15. I always go ahead and order the doll first, I usually try look for the clothes at the same time, but there never seems to be the kind of clothes I want. Just for the record, only 2 of my 5 dolls are fully clothed... :sweat

    16. My first doll was a fullset so I got the doll and the clothes at the same time. But so far with my others, I find myself buying the doll and then searching the internet for clothes that both fit the doll and the character.

    17. I've done it all three ways ... sometimes doll and clothes at the same time (fullset), sometimes the doll first, sometimes the clothes first .. if I see something irresistible. :)

    18. Aside from my 2 Lady Amalthea dolls that came with clothes, the other BJDs that I have are naked. I need to start buying clothes, lingerie and shoes for them. BJD clothes are expensive though.

    19. I bought the doll first. I wanted to look for clothes after. I couldn't find any for the size I needed, so I bought some fabrics to sew my own. :)

    20. Having participated in the poll, I realize that I'm in the minority. In other words, I'm one of those who buys the clothes before the doll comes. I know I'm taking a gamble and running a risk of having stuff that won't fit my Johnny, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.
