1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I learned my lesson with the first doll. I was planning for an MSD, so I bought shoes, underwear, an outfit and a wig. When it came time to get the doll, I ended up getting an SD instead. Then I was stuck with MSD stuff that I had to sell, and when my doll arrived, I had managed to get an outfit, and I ordered her with a wig. But she went to her first doll meet in bare feet. Someone at the meet gave me a pair of shoes for her <3 Later on I gifted the shoes to another barefoot doll :)
But since that, I always buy the doll first, then buy the other stuff while I wait.

    2. I like to buy the doll with clothes at the same time. That way, my new arrival isn't sitting around naked while I go clothes shopping.

    3. I bought Briar first because I didn't want to make all these clothes only for none of them to fit. He's my first doll too so I didn't even have a rough idea of what MIGHT fit. It's okay though because I've been slowly building his wardrobe. :)

    4. I always purchase the doll first because I need to know exactly what size I am shopping for-- I've made the mistake of buying random MSD clothing just to stow them away & finally get a doll that I would want to wear the outfit & it be too large/small.

    5. For my first doll I was convinced I was gonna make every single piece of clothing on her, but by my second I bought clothes while shes on layaway

    6. I bought my first BJD and his clothes at the same time, but now I probably buy the doll first then the clothes. Somehow, that's become a habit. Now whenever I get a new doll, I'd buy clothes that fit their character - it does help a lot if you have a character already in mind, so they won't have to sit naked :XD:

    7. Always the doll first, then the clothes ! I don't want to buy clothes for dolls I don't own already. You never know what can happen, and I don't want to spend money on an outfit for a doll that I might not buy in the end. So first I buy the doll, and when I'm waiting for it to come home, I buy it clothes :)

    8. I've mostly bought clothes in tandem with the purchase of my dolls. But I've already started buying clothes for my next doll, which is different size than all mu other dolls.

    9. I have one doll so far, but she's running around in underwear. I bought her a panty/bra set when I bought her because I wanted to sew her some clothes, but I wish she had something else while she waits for me to have time to sew.

    10. I received some dolls clothes already, even though I don't have the full doll yet. Just a head. It kind of got a little crazy when I started getting into BJD's last year.

    11. I've been tempted several times to buy clothes for dolls I don't have/eventually hope to own :'D My first doll came as a full set with outfit, and my second I'm planning on sewing clothes for - though I did order a pair of pants for him to keep him decent when he arrives HEH...

    12. After order the doll, I'm trying to buy some outfits.
But I always can't make up my mind so my doll is naked now.
I think I need to spend some time to play with him to know what style will fit him, then buy outfits.

    13. I went with the doll first. However I must confess that I am a flea market junkie and have a ton of vintage doll clothes in my stash, so I can probably dress ANY doll I think.. I am currently tailoring some of them for my YOSD. But when I am focused on a particular doll I have to really look at her carefully and then design her look...I think dolls have a say in what they want to wear.

    14. I usually purchase a doll & clothes for it at the same time. Although not always. When I order a doll I prefer to buy eyes of my own choice so that they are ready to put in when the doll arrives. I've never liked the default eyes my dolls have been supplied with in the past, I am rather finicky about eyes. The eyes i've been sent have often been dark brown or black and they creep me out somewhat. If the clothes don't seem to suit the doll then I will of course buy more clothes later on but I like to buy something intially for the doll to wear so it's not stored away naked in its box.

    15. I make all of my girl's clothing, so I needed her at home with me before I could start sewing. I did, however, start buying dollhouse props for her before I had purchased her. Little food items, tiny books, blankets and pillows and what-have-you.

    16. For my Kid Delf I purchased clothes when I ordered her and realized after she arrived that they didn't fit who she was. For my SD13 I haven't ordered anything yet for fear of the same thing happening, but I did get her a pair of underwear.

    17. Doll first for me (most of the time). Although, I got my SD girls some clothes before I placed orders for the dolls themselves :)

    18. I purchase the doll first and then purchase the clothes afterwards. That way I am certain the clothing will fit!

    19. Doll first, clothes later. I mean, essentially, it should be easier to shop with size measurements posted already, but I think having the doll in front of you might give you a better idea of how you want to organize their wardrobe. Also, if you're going to sew your own clothes, it helps having a model with the exact measurements.

    20. Normally I have the doll's character all planned out before I even pick out the doll, so it's easier for me to pick out the clothes and whatnot. Plus my mom kinda used to have a rule in the house that if she saw any naked dolls lying around, she'd throw them away. Don't think she'd do that now but I prefer them to be clothed anyways. :P
