1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Hmm... I don't own a doll, but I found a cheap Ebay lot of clothes in my hypothetical doll's size, and I bought it because it was a good deal. I guess that puts me in the "bought the clothes before the doll" category.

Ideally, I would have waited until a specific doll was a GUARANTEE (IE, it was on layaway) before I bought them anything. The doll that I'm "definitely" getting tends to change...

So, yeah. I'm all for buying clothing before the doll, since I like to be opportunistic about buying. I snipe good deals and such. I would be very hesitant about buying anything for a doll I wasn't SURE I was going to own, though.

    2. I just recently placed an order for my first doll, and I placed my order for the clothes at about the same time. I regret not ordering the clothes earlier since the shipment'll be arriving about a month after my doll which means she'll be running around naked for awhile, poor thing.

    3. I still haven't bought any clothes for my first doll after having her more than half of year haha  (one pair of thigh long socks only I think) but I and my friend have made some clothes for her c: I think I should make a taobao order for her soon though :XD:

    4. Most of the time I buy dolls first, I just wanna have em in my hands :sweat then I can worry about clothes and accessories... however I have ended up with a weirdly large amount of SD girl clothes when I don't have any of that type of doll yet (I plan to have several though heheh)

    5. I always get the doll first, but sometimes happen that I start getting clothes while the doll is still on the way to me.

    6. The first time I ordered a doll I really wanted. Months of prep to choose her! It took forever! But after I ordered her. I kept going to Target or Walmart or TRU and looking at the clothing packs. One day I saw the cutest hat. I didn't even know her dimensions but I got it anyway. That was weeks before I got the doll. And BJDs are a little different because they are very specific and individual so that might not exactly work for them. But it kinda helped take the edge off waiting... At the time I felt just insane buying things for a doll I didn't have it didn't know would fit! Lol
PS it actual kind fit her! It was a smidge too big.

    7. I got my first doll as full set, so I got the doll and the clothes all in one package - I had never even seen a BJD "in person" before, so I was very insecure about the whole thing... I did get him a couple of accessories while waiting for his arrival, like a chair and a teddy bear...
Now I usually get the naked doll first.

    8. I bought my first doll, sewed him a simple white robe before he got here. I had gotten the armholes too small so it didn't fit. So I made him a lovely red and gold Chinese style robe with dragons on it, and tiny frogs fastening the neck the same day. Years later , it is still his favorite. I did order him a wig, shoes and eyes in advance though. My first doll is my most spoiled, he probably has 20- 30 outfits. I have been collecting cloth for over 30 years though, and sewing since I was six.

    9. I bought my doll first, but then went and bought clothes a few days after purchasing the doll. Neither have arrived yet, but hopefully I get the clothes first.

    10. I kept and keep buying stuff for dolls I still don't own. That's a bad habit and it happens mostly with big dolls X"D I bought clothes and shoes years before I received the doll.

    11. I'm going with doll first just because it is my first so I need to know what size doll so I can buy matching clothes. I suppose I could do clothes first but meh lol

    12. I tend to buy the dolls and clothes at the same time. It makes me feel a bit better. The only time this didn't happen was when I got Andy. She ended up wearing Aldric's dress just so she wouldn't be naked. It took me a while to find clothes I liked for her. The clothes tend to arrive faster than the doll and then they sit while I wait. However, I like having something doll related to open while waiting for my new resin friend. That way, once they do arrive, I have everything in order.

    13. I got my doll first, since I was paranoid of making something and it being too small. When I got her I made a make shift dress thing out of one of my scarves so she wouldn't be naked haha.

    14. I bought my doll first and he's been naked for so long that I really think I should've at least bought him some clothes at the same time. :p

    15. I bought my dolls first! I don't even own clothes/wigs/eyes yet!

    16. For my kid delf pine, I did'nt have clothes in mind so I just bought him then ordered clothes after I got to shell him

    17. It really depends on the doll. If the doll is on a long waiting list, then I'll go ahead and buy clothes and accessories before they get here. If it's a doll I plan on heavily modding or doing a faceup, I usually won't buy them anything. All of my dolls have changed from my original plan for them, so I tend not to buy anything.

    18. I brought the doll on layaway first so whilst i was paying for her, I brought clothes for her.

    19. I prefer to start working on a doll as soon as I get them, so I usually order the clothes, accesories, and the doll all at the same time so they arrive relatively in the same period. That way I already have everything on hand while the inspiration is still fresh and the look I want for them is clear in my head.

    20. I usually order the doll first and then while waiting for the doll to arrive is the time I spend on getting wig, eyes and then clothes ready. I like having time to deal with that while waiting for the doll to arrive, it also lessens my impatience of waiting for the doll.

This is a problem however as I just purchased a secondhand doll and the doll is going to be arriving far sooner than my clothes and wig and eyes ><
