1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. My first BJD-related purchase was a peach Luts wig for the Shiwoo I was still saving for. I had it several months before I finally ordered my boy, haha! xD; Even with dolls I still only *plan* to have, I buy wigs and clothes before the dolls get here.

Even things I buy for my current dolls, if they aren't worn much, they automatically find a planned doll to suddenly "own" them. (instant hand-me-downs for dolls! 8D) I do tend to buy a lot of clothes at the same time as the doll, though..

    2. Technically, the Doll came first... althought the clothes were not far behind.

    3. Both at the same time. I didn't want Lucas to show up naked and hairless. It just didn't seem right.

    4. I've bought loads of clothes and accessories, and I haven't even bought the doll who'll be wearing them yet. *laughs*

I'm failing badly on buying the doll... all my money is spent buying stuff for him instead. XD

    5. I tend to buy the dolls first and then clothes, wigs, eyes etc. It helps to know the mold before I pick out those things n.n.

    6. I bought Marlowe first, assuming that I could buy some clothes for him while I waited for him to arrive, but he used up so much of my funds that I didn't have enough to buy him anything before he got home! :o

I ended up sewing him a pair of....not very good looking pants, and an interesting corset inspired shirt which didn't fit too well... At least he wasn't naked, though.

Now I plan to try and buy everything more or less at the same time. I'm worried that if I try to build up clothes in advance, I'll end up buying a different doll then I planed! :doh

    7. I bought eyes on the marketplace and then my doll from Luts within a day or two. I had been browsing looking for the "right" clothes while she was being made. I thought I would have until mid January until I could even hope for her to be shipped, but she was shipped on Dec 29 with an ETA of the 5th! So I am scrambling to make final decisions and get something for her to wear.

Next time I think I will order things all at once. *_*

    8. i wouldnt buy doll clothes unless i REALLY loved them.. it just gets to be too expensive:( i bought my doll and then found the measurements and made here some outfits while i waited for her to come.. its a good thing to keep u busy :)

    9. I don't have a doll yet, but my plan is to buy her, then buy clothes while I'm waiting for her to get home since I plan to have her sent off for extra blushing after I get her. That's going to be so hard to do :(

    10. *sigh* I have my boy's head and some clothes for him, but he has no body to put them on. XD Soon, hopefully.

    11. When I got my first SD13 boy, all he had to wear was a white button-down American Girl shirt and Gwena's panties. :o So now if I know I'm going to be getting a doll I won't have any clothes for I'll buy a nice, simple outfit or two in the correct size.

On the other hand, I don't usually buy clothes for a doll I'm planning or have ordered if I have another doll that size. I won't be buying anything for my Kurumi until she's here -- she's going to be Gwena's cousin, and Gwena has plenty of nice clothes she can wear. :)

    12. I've bought an outfit and a few wigs for my doll. Now I need to start saving up for him. ^^

    13. The clothes came together with my first doll. After that I bought the clothes or the dolls whenever I saw the ones I really like..(same as eyes, wigs and shoes). The shoes were harder to find the right size for different dolls in the beginning, I think I have them all covered now.

    14. Doll first :> My very first doll was kind of an impulse buy, so I wasn't prepared ^^ Now I usually get the doll first, because it's easier to judge their style having them in front of me. I can usually mock up something for them to wear until I order clothes :> My new girl is an exception in a way-- I've set up an area of my sewing room for her room, and it's mostly finished, and I have fabrics to make clothes for her already. <3

    15. I bought Kyle on impulse so I had nothing ready for him ^^; I ordered his wig like a few hours after I bought him but he still arrived before it did. Then my gf made some makeshift pants, which are really tight and short, and then a few shirts. He still doesn't have many clothes but I'm hoping to get him some more made or save up for some ^^

    16. I bought my first bjd in february 2005. It was Lishe from Luts. She came nude from another collector.

After that I tried to buy outfits before another bjd arrived. But that didn't work because my bjds have their own taste in fashion. They decide what they want to wear.

And that often that just isn't the outfit that I bought for a particular bjd. So I decided to buy the doll first and to wait until he or she has arrived. I make up my mind about the perfect outfit when I have the bjd at my home...

    17. I've learned my lesson (about not buying any clothes before or at the same time as the doll)

This time with my 2nd doll I'm going to have a few outfits, a stand and maybe another wig by the time she arrives in March.

    18. There are so many BJD nowadays with their own measurements that buying clothes for them could be trying. I've done this a few times without knowing the measurement of the clothing beforehand, only roughly the kind of dolls they may fit for. They didn't fit my dolls when I got them. One solution would be to make my own. I'm still working on that one..

    19. I ordered my doll with some clothes but because the waiting took so long I ended up buiyng more clothes before my doll arrived. It was funny to examine a doll suit to get an idea of my doll's size since I had never even seen a bjd before my doll finally arrived :D

    20. First comes doll and then clothes, here.
