1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Which do you prefer: Buying heads and bodies separate or complete dolls?

Aug 17, 2010

    1. I prefer buying whole dolls too !

It's too complicated for me to change something in them, it scares me ! If I do anything wrong, I will be in trouble to find some help...

    2. Whole dolls, hands down. I had a few floating heads and I never did find bodies for them. It can be really difficult to make hybrids so I just prefer to buy the whole doll.

    3. My first doll is a full set come with a separate outfit :) She is from Luts with that time a have lot of money.
After few month I only buy a head because my money running out lol and save money to buy a body later.

so for me depend on money I have. :...(

    4. It is a money thing, but I prefer whole dolls. If I'm going to hybrid or the sculpt only comes as a head, though, I'll go for a floating head... but it's not fun. :(

    5. I swore not to buy any floating heads, but now it looks like I'll have two. *facepalm* I do prefer buying a complete doll, making hybrids is pretty stressful.

    6. Full dolls! I think a separate head and body would cost more compared to the whole doll itself. :)

    7. Buying a full doll is surely easier, but sometimes you just can't do it. I had really bad times finding the perfect or quite perfect color match for some of my off topic custom dolls that came as floating heads, and I'm not so willing to have them again with BJD. But if the characters that I have in mind will require that...well, I'll undergo this pain again :...(

    8. I prefer complete dolls. I hate when i have to wait, i'm someone who's impatient, it would be hard for me to wait the head or the body ^^ and i would be afraid not to find one of it..

    9. Complete dolls but I'd buy them separately if money was an issue

    10. It depends a lot on if I like the body or no, if I don't really like it but I think it could work until I can get the head a properly body, then I buy it complete but if I dont then I just buy the head and save up for a body.

My first dolly was an hybrid, there were a lot of problems because of my newbie self, lol, but it worked out just awesome :)

    11. I would much prefer to buy a whole doll and customise it from the get-go... at least, once I can afford it and am confident enough in my skills to do a decent faceup and body blushing.

    12. my first resin man is full doll. he is perfect for me. but since my wishlist was widen and i want to get 3 heads. and i won't buy the bodies for them from their companies.
so it depends from the sculpt only

    13. I personally prefer buying complete dolls, my darling Auds went a different route and bought a head and is saving up to get a body.

    14. I'm glad my first doll was a full doll but I've since really gotten into making hybrids. I think I might have gotten frustrated if I'd started with one though. Now researching resin matches and neck sizes is sort of part of the process. I get a certain sense of accomplishment from pulling off a hybrid well.

    15. I prefer a full doll, but if I cannot afford the whole thing at once, or if I happen to find a coveted sculpt or body on the MP, I will get the head and body separately. Occasionally it is cheaper that way too.

    16. For my first doll i ordered a whole doll, but a floating head will be coming free with her due to the summer event so i'm going to try to get a body for it in the winter event. He's going to be a DC/DZ Hybrid which is helpfull since they have the same resin =)

    17. Well sometimes putting a head and body together separately can work out cheaper, or more expensive. I think its nicer to open a whole doll though!

    18. I get mines whole, it seems so much easier and cheaper then buying everything separately.

    19. Most of the time I buy head first, then body when I have enough money. But I do buy the full doll if layaway option available. I do thing that not hurt my wallet.

    20. I prefered purchasing the whole body because I could enjoy him sooner and dress him up right away but I'm also enjoying the experience of having a floating head in need of a body because even though I know the body I want for him, I'm still searching around for other bodies and finding new companies with beautiful dolls I wouldn't have found any other way!
