1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Which Is More Important To You?

Mar 15, 2011

    1. I pretty much only order off of Alice Collections so I normally try to wait until you can get free airmail for spending $50 in accessories. Considering shipping is $40 for the doll itself, so if you are already going to spend that on shipping, why not pay $10 extra for free shipping? By doing that the doll comes with clothes and stuff. But to me I would like to have at least a wig and eyes because it is easy to make them a makeshift toga.

    2. I like to have a wig and eyes ready to go at the minimum, and if I've found clothes for them that's even better. If I didn't get a faceup with the doll I'm planning that as soon as the doll arrives to me as well. Seeing the completed doll gives me much more satisfaction that just having the doll :)

    3. For me it's important to bring the dolly home first. She can share the clothes and wigs of my other ladies at the start until I know exactly what kind of character she gets. I have to play with her for some time to say what really fits her. I only bought some wigs and eyes for a girl before she got here because she's got a different size than my other dolls ^^'

    4. I don't really mind if it's just the resin, I always try and get home wig, eyes and everything else in the meantime while waiting on the company to ship off as that usually takes at least 2 months and then some.

    5. Naked dolls with no clothes, eyes, wigs or even a faceup don't scare me anymore. They just bring out a creative side that I need to express from time to time anyway.

    6. I want the basics ready when the doll arrives. It's really hard for me to enjoy a bald, blank, naked doll. I want to at least have the wig, eyes, and one outfit ready.

    7. Bring the doll home, but I would at least like for them to have a wig and eyes even if the eyes or wig aren't the ones they'll be wearing permanently.
Of next most importance is having at least one outfit even if it's just a simple top and bottoms or a robe of some sort, so they won't have to sit around unclothed. And all my dolls will get a hat and scarf right away since I can crochet those for them even before they arrive.

    8. Getting just the doll is most important to me, but I definitely prefer to have a wig and eyes ready or order them with the doll. Clothes are a little less important cx I usually sew them something temporary until more money is available for clothes.

    9. For someone new to BJD ownership, getting eyes, hair, and the first set of clothes is pretty important to me. I do have a feeling I might not know my doll's ideal styling until actually having her in my hands though and studying her sculpt for a while.

    10. A wig is the most important thing on my Doll (well the face-up is more important )

    11. Just having my doll is fine for me
Sometimes I ordered for wig and/or eyes before but not always
It's quite difficult to decide about a look without the doll
so I prefer have the doll first, made some test with the stuff I have home and after
      purchase everything

    12. When I ordered mine I ordered her with faceup and the wig at the same time. I also ordered two extra sets of eyes incase I didn't like the random ones I was given, but the purple ones that ended up coming with the doll are so pretty that I kept them in there.

Luckily she fits barbie doll clothes, so while I was waiting for her to arrive I bought her some basic outfits she can wear while I work on sewing her some clothes. I still gotta get her some shoes, but she was pretty much ready to go when she arrived.

    13. I got lucky with my first doll during an event and got a free set of cloths with him. Cloths that are a little silly and we call, the Hobo Clown set. It was nice to put him in something but MAN was it horrible. So I think after that I'm fine just getting the dolls home. I can work a needle and thread pretty averagely so I just make them some crappy pants n shirt and wait till my skill improves or I see something I like online.

    14. Bringing your doll home with clothes/wig/etc!

I can't stand having a naked/bald/no eyes doll for very long, so shortly after the I order the doll, I order everything else too. (After doing a bunch of research so I make sure I get stuff that fits)

    15. When I ordered my first doll she came nude without make-up, only with the eyes and wig the company sent me. This state of the doll during 2-3 months because I did not have the money nor the time to get her things made me feel wrong about her and I did not bond with her at all and ended up selling her.
So for the next dolls I try to have at least the eyes and wig ready, even a piece of clothing if it's possible. They always come blank because I prefer custom-made face-ups.

    16. Well, when i first started the hobby, i was wide eyed and eager and i just wanted my dolls regardless of being able to afford clothes or anything, i was idealistic and thought i could make them things, That NEVER happened, so for me now its important to have the whole 9 yards, coming at the same time so once my doll is here, they are complete and ready to play!

    17. I could say having a doll home is much more important to me. I like having some kind of eyes and a random wig for my dolls when they arrive but nothing more than that. I do them face-ups, sew some clothes and develop their personalities. After that I buy eyes, wigs and accessories that match their personality and stuff I have already made for them.

    18. I just buy the doll blank. I do my own faceups/wigmaking and sew my own doll clothing, and I look at each new doll as a creative project, so I'm not worried about having stuff ready for them when they arrive. I also prefer not to buy eyes before I have the doll, because until I see the sculpt and try different eyes in it, I can never be sure exactly what size eyes I will want to use.

    19. I also like to buy my dolls blanks. I will buy them a few clothes while I'm waiting for them to be shipped because I like to be able to have them dressed when I finished to customize them. Sometimes I buy them a pair of eyes too, but nothing more at the very beginning ! I like to do my face-ups myself, and I make wigs so there's no need to pay for any of this.
That said, I never buy a new doll until the ones I have owns a decent amount of clothes. I prefer to spoil the dolls that are already here rather than have them with one simple and basic outfit or naked and have more dolls.

    20. My doll isn't here yet but I already bought a bunch of clothes for him +3 shoes. I did my best with regards to size but I suppose the experience will either encourage/discourage me from doing the same when I order a second doll.
