Which of your family members are into BJDs?

Apr 14, 2007

    1. None of them. I'm the only kid in this family, and my cousins' family moved away and pretty much broke contact with everyone after my grandfather passed - that was long before I got into BJDs.

My dad understands why I'm into them and my mom still wants to put my boy in at least one aloha shirt (though one likely = one million, knowing her) when I bring him home, but I don't know if she'd want one of her own.

    2. my aunt is. she Actualy bought me Luna my first and only BJD at the moment.

    3. Well, none of my family family members are into them.

But, some people I consider close enough to be family, we have a joke that they're my "second" parents, met Aliste last night and fell in love with him. They had seen BJDs before, but after spending time with mine, they admitted they would love to have one too. :3 I think they might begin saving for one.

    4. My mother is starting to look into the hobby. I think its just funny XD She has no idea what anything is and is asking me questions all over the place. Which I don't mind, because i would prefer her ask me or DOA but she is very not much into comps.

She's looking to get an Iplehouse light Cocori. ^ ^

    5. I'm alone D=. If my parents found out i'm interested in such an expensive doll they'd probably freak out XD.
My older sister thinks they look creepy and that if i do get one *she doesn't know the price of course* not to put it near her. Lol

    6. I'm alone too. ;o;

My family is ok with them I guess...but they are all VERY insistent that all but one of my boys are in fact, girls. Their faces, not bodies. (since I was quick to prove their masculinity and pants them lol) Only my brother is really in my face about it though. Funny that I'm turning the head they all think looks like a boy into a little girl. xDD

      I know that none of them will ever get a BJD, even if they saw one they liked. So I don't try to convert them. ^^;;

    7. Although no one at all in my family is in to BJD's...I can prodly say that they all know what they are and can distinguish them from a couple of the other dolls that I collect!!! My kids, Dad, Husband, I am truly proud of them, and it makes me laugh!!!

    8. None of my family is into bjds, but they appraise it as my hobby. I laughed when one of my brothers said he thought that Aleksei is a girl because he has a long hair. ;D Well, I must admit that he has a bit girly faceup, but it fits fine in his image.

Mom is very supportative, she likes that I'm interested about sewing and stuff like that. She also said that he looks very pretty. My dad was just horrified when I told him how much the doll cost.

    9. My mum does not own any BJDs. But that does not mean she's not into them, especially the tinies. Like me, she has fallen completely for the pukis. Of course I told her that now that I got a raise at work, I have plans to start a small puki-collection, and yesterday, we were in town, and my mum point to this tiny dresser which is on sale.
Mum: "Look at that! Oh, you HAVE to buy that for the pukis!"
Me: "I haven't even ordered ONE yet..."
That SHE ended up buying the dresser for the pukis...

Also, she asked how much they cost, and I answered truthfully.
Me: "I know, it's quite expensive for something so small..."
Mum: "Oh! But it's not a toy, it's something you collect and take care of. Think of people who collect stamps! And you can do much more with a doll than with a stamp!"

    10. My mother is fascinated by my kids. :D She even chose one of them for me (my MNF Shiwoo). She won't ever get one of her own, but she adores my crew. She's pretty much the only person that can dress my DOC Zen, Mikail. He fights the rest of us, but he co-operates with her, lol.

    11. I feel much better.... So there are people who've gotten and kept a BJD against their parents' will :P - Mum would definitely try to stop me from getting one (very easy because right now she's the only one with a credit card >_< )

But Kitta further up just gave me the idea that maybe I can start with making the clothes. Then I'll have to get a doll XD

    12. My mom fell for Pendrithgirl's Vega Last Song. Out of mine, I think she likes Squall best, so obviously she's got a thing for the LE's and more expensive boys >.> My aunt loves the boys too.

Mom just finished a crochet'd blanket for the guys so they'll have something warmer to sit on than the pine ottoman in my room too.

    13. So far, just me. But once I get my girl...who knows! My Grandmother like dolls, so many she'll get interested as well.

    14. I think now that I have my boy, my mom understands what I saw in him and why I wanted to spend so much on a doll. She'll see me looking at clothes now and be like "That's cute!" :) I wouldn't say shes into dolls now or anything, but I think she definitely appreciates them more now, and gets why people like them.

    15. My brother acts like a brat when it comes to my dolls. My dad just considers it my hobby and is supportive, though he will occasionally make fun of my boy (my dad thinks he's too effeminate XD ). My mom is supportive and likes to pick up cute stuff for them sometimes when she comes across it. But the only one who might actually get a doll is my cousin/best friend. She loves my puki, and says that if she ever has enough money she'd like to get one of her own. It's pretty funny since when I ordered my first doll she said they freaked her out and she wanted nothing to do with them. Now she likes all my dolls XD

    16. My mum.. she don't really play them but she help me to get them and she own half of my family... >_>.... she support my doll expenses and join me for doll meets...^_^

    17. Mmmm.... nobody, really. Lol. My immediate family is rather small to begin with, but my mom is cool with them. She really likes a couple of mine and will very occasionally indulge me and buy them clothes as Christmas and birthday presents. Never "for" the dolls, though. For me. To dress the dolls in. Etc. etc. etc...
But other than that, no, there's nobody else in my family who even knows what they really are. :sweat

    18. Nobody else in my family is really interested in BJDs. But my mom and my sister both love dolls (my sister and I both collected porcelain dolls when we were little, and my mom still has some of her Barbies and a Shirley Temple doll from when she was a kid) so they understand a grown woman having dolls as collectibles that are not to be played with! Before I decided on which doll to get, I showed them some pictures, and they thought they were gorgeous. I think my mom is almost as excited about my incoming BBB Mei as I am! The only thing she said about the cost of any of the dolls I looked at (including some really really expensive dolls that are more dreams than reality for me to get at this point) was that we'd have to be careful that my niece, who is nearly three, didn't get a hold of them. I already asked my mom to crochet my girl something for Christmas, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what she makes.

    19. Well, My Aunt thinks my doll obsession is fine. She kinda likes the fact that I love all these dolls. She's into dolls herself, and so is my cousin [American Girl dolls though, Not so much BJDs] But other than that, No one else in my family. My sister thinks i'm insane. xD

    20. bahh no one in my family really is.
my sister likes a few but would never spend the money.
although I've been into this hobby for over a year now my parents are still really..eh about it.
I honestly think they're still just put off by the prices.
especially my mom, I remember explaining this hobby to them when I decided to buy my first doll and my dad was the one that was actually really supportive about it, he could tell how passionate I was about them.
I think he also kind of related to it because he is also a collector of random things (football helmets, Illinois license plates, etc..)
