1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Which of your family members are into BJDs?

Apr 14, 2007

    1. my mum loves my dolls, she even talks to them sometimes... she really likes pukis but she thinks that they're too expensive (she thinks that about all the bjd dollls.. T_T) that's why she don't want to buy one for herself. Maybe I will buy her a puki once.. My other family don't like my dolls they think that I'm crazy to pay so much for a doll..

    2. They all hate em. Mainly due to the price. :sweat

    3. Well, Thy's family seems to think that it's a fad, mainly his grandmother. Every time Thy talks about BJD she says that it's just a phase, but she's slowly coming around when Thy told her that the hobby itself is very large and that Thy has been fawning over BJD since he was a freshman in highschool after he saw one at Acen. So ever so slowly she's coming around, and if Thy get's his boy or girl, he's sure that she'd want to try her hand at the knitting and croqueting items for the boy or girl. (She loves to do both of those things! Ever since she was younger.) The rest of the real family thinks that Thy is crazy. X3

Thy's surrogate brother wants one, but it might be because he wants to have some more time with Thy, and something in common would help him achieve that. Aside from him, Thy's boyfriend wants one and the two of us are currently saving up and trying to decide over so many different and beautiful dollies.

      :kitty1

    4. My mom loves them and she's always asking me questions about them. I'm thinking of getting her one for her birthday actually. ^^

My dad thinks they're interesting but he doesn't really flat out say if he likes or dislikes them.

My sister is terrified of BJD's. XD But she does like the Custom House models, and most Tinies, really.

My husband doesn't get it. The whole hobby. He thinks it's mental to spend so much money on a doll and last night he was even lecturing me about spending so much money on dolls when we barely have any cash to begin with... (I'm selling my $1500 synthesizer that I bought a few years ago to get a doll, so basically sacrificing one thing I love for another, and he still gets mad... I'm not even using HIS money. Meanwhile he has his XBox and dozens of games, that I can't say a thing about...) But ya, he really doesn't understand it and I don't fully expect him to, he's a guy after all, but I at least hope once he sees my dolls in person, he won't be so judgmental and become a little more supportive... 'cause it really hurts to have him bash the hobby that I've been interested in for 7 years, especially since I'm just NOW waiting on my first doll.

Buuuut enough of my drama rant. At least my mom likes them, and that makes me happy, because it's one of the few interests I have that she really likes. ^^

    5. The first time I mentioned bjd's to my family, dad said "why would you spend so much on a DOLL? You're a little too old to play with dolls aren't you?" Other than that, he doesn't say much. Not that he says much to begin with, he's a quiet man. :)
While my mom went "Never in the world will I allow you to use so much money on a doll, you're starting college!!" ... So she doesn't really like them I guess. xD -_-
Thus I moved out, saved my money and is in the process of getting my first bjd!
The rest of my family doesn't really know about it at all.

    6. My family is the same. :| No one in my family likes BJDs, not one bit. Specially because of the price.

    7. None of my family are really 'into' it. However, whenever I have my girls out, my mom demands to change their shoes. ^^;;

    8. Mine too! :(
It doesn't matter, though... I'm going to keep buying them anyway! :)

    9. My Mum likes my Iplehouse Tania & Tatiana - they are her faves. But she's too critical of Model Doll F Lisa - she calls her a leaf insect because of her long legs.

    10. Well...my brother is actually a member here on DoA too ((Cadmium_Kyo9)) XD

My brother and I have always been super close all our lives, sooo...naturally, we're both heavily into BJDs ((though he's way more in depth when it comes to research and knowledge of them in general...it can be very scary, actually o_o I learn everything and anything from him, basically)). Our doll plans and families are both involved in the same story and are related to and influenced by one another in various ways ((as it is, our dolls are pretty much joint-custody XD)).

Since we've always been best friends and have always been involved in the same hobbies and interests, I don't really think too much about how cool it is to have someone to pretty much share the hobby with 24/7...but I do feel really fortunate to have someone like that in my own family.

Other than that, my mom seems rather interested in them ((interest that goes as far as spending ungodly amounts of money buying us amazing clothes for the dolls...@___@)), but my dad is against it and pretty much ignores the fact that my brother and I are into these dolls ((which is probably what's keeping my mom from supporting our hobby wholeheartedly :P)). All the cousin's we've shown them to ((like, 2 out of 35 @_@)) think they're very pretty, so that's cool too :3

    11. My mom likes them, but thinks their eyes look too real.

    12. My little sister desperately wants one; and one or two of my friends have mentioned wanting one but not enough to save up. I'd like to meet more people into the hobby but I don't get out much and would feel too shy at a doll meet I think.

    13. None...

And they don't know I am...well my Brother does but he's weird like me and has a Pee-Wee Herman doll....

    14. None of my family are into them at all :( They think I am strange :P x

    15. My 8 year old daughter she love very much other of my dolls!!!!

    16. My mom x3 She wants a BJD really bad...Shes been fawning over Buddy Doll's "Mars" (the silence not the tough version x3; ) for months :sweat i feel bad for her, i really want her to get him cuz im dying for there to be more than 1 BJD in the house xD

    17. well i guess that both of my sisters like them. however they are not really into them enough to buy one. so it's really just me.

    18. whoa... i guess i'm lucky :o
It seems EVERYONE in my family likes my dolls, espeicially my grandmother:)
she's been looking up sites for sewing clothes for them, writing out and sending me links by snailmail.
My mom likes them (Ty DOD for converting her with Homme Ducan..) and dad just shoots them strange looks every so often but he still seems to think they're cool.

    19. Umm... No one likes mine. My mom likes them one day then the next she hates them and yells at me for buying it.
      Pfft... Parents...
My Dad doesn't care all that much but I know he thinks I'm insane for buying them.
My sister is just flat out a jerk, she is so opinionated, so guess what... She hates them as well! Surprie Surprise!

My grandmother... Um... She didn't really express her opinion...
      So unloved... ._.

    20. If I was eating just now, this computer would be covered.

the only one slightly interested is my mom, who took a look at my precious and said: it is so small and WOW is it pricy. but those eyes are nice. ONLY the eyes.

so yes they all think I've gone crazy and calls bjds "mud dolls" (which I find funny)
they feel that de-evolving is possible.

      lol :P
