1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Which of your family members are into BJDs?

Apr 14, 2007

    1. None of my immediate family are that interested in the dolls, but they're all super supportive of all the creative things I do for them (making clothes, props, dioramas etc). They always ask me what I've been making.

My grandma visited recently and she seemed quite interested. She has since given me a box full of miniature antiques she found around her house. Bless her! My nanna was also interested when she was still around. I remember showing her my boy and she thought he was a girl... I didn't bother to correct her xD She thought he was very pretty though.

I'm pretty jealous of people who have close relatives/friends who are in the hobby. I'm the only one in my family who is particularly arty. I don't think they really "get" it, but they try.

    2. Well...I've got my mom loosely involved in the hobby with me. She keeps a look-out for furniture for them on local online sales groups, and understands their purpose of being works of art. I also customized one of my old boys into a silver-haired elf for her, and she's seemed interested in a couple of the ones I've showed her on a couple occasions (although I don't see her getting more for a time).

It's nice to have her to talk and relate to when it comes to bjds, and it kind of runs in the family to collect dolls. If my grandma on my mom's side were still around, she probably would've loved them, and I know my mom's younger sister has an appreciation for art dolls as well.

But my mom's the one who's the most interested in the hobby, and I'm glad to have that :kitty2<3

    3. None of mine are. They consider it a waste of money and pointless. My mom would maybe collect them if they weren't expensive. I think its awesome when family are in the hobby together. It makes it easier.

    4. My niece actually! She has loved my dolls since the first time she saw them years ago and asked me if I would buy her one. I told her if she's still interested when she's older I'll order her very first doll for her. This year she called me around her birthday and told me how she was still interested in bjds and was ready to join the hobby and asked if that could be her birthday gift. I told her it'd be birthday/Christmas gift. It was really fun selecting a doll with her. She had a character to shell and she really enjoyed the process of finding the perfect doll and accessories. The waiting was terrible for her because it took longer than we anticipated. Her doll arrived last week and I can't wait to get him to her! So, the story is he likes to travel but gets lost on his adventures!

    5. Blood relations: None whatsoever, unless I have cousins in the bjd closet.

Chosen family: Two! And I'm working hard to corrupt a third.

    6. My mom! She is the one who got (forced) me into the doll collecting hobby! I found bjds before she did, and she does not own two many bjds (yet) but loves them all the same and is extremely supportive. We talk about dolls all the time and she often is the person I go to when I am having a hard time making a decision about a doll.

    7. Only myself, my parents don't support or oppose.

    8. My mom liked collecting dolls growing up, but I’m the only one in the family that likes BJD’s.
