1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Which of your family members are into BJDs?

Apr 14, 2007

    1. Me and my Fiance own 9 dolls between us both. ^__^
It is really great to share a hobby with your partner. :)
My Dad is somewhat into BJD, mostly Dollfie Dream, we plan to get him one soon. He has plans to make a Rei from Evangelion (yes, we know Volks made one already, he wants to make HIS own! lol), complete with plug, and plugsuit! He is darned crafty so I am totally sure he'll pull it off well. :)
My Fiance's lil brother really likes BJD, we want to get the lil guy one, but we are afriad what his mum will do to it if she finds out! @__@ She is really old fashioned with the whole guys and dolls thing.
My older sister totally adores BJD, she'll hold one of my dolls when we are out, dress them ect. with me, but she just has no desire to own one for herself. :( Maybe cuz she can just come to my place and play with them for free any time! lol

    2. We are a mother daughter pair of BJD lovers. I didn't mean to fall so hard... I just wanted to know what was keeping our daughter SO focused on these "insanely expensive" (or so I felt at the time :doh ) dolls.
Between us we now have.... :blush more than I should mention.... Mostly Volks dolls with a few very notable exceptions :love

My dear husband is involved in a different way. He puts on the respirator mask and sprays heads with MSC for us. He got us photo lights and camera and is teaching us how to photoshop. And now he is making a set - nice walls with beadboard and wallpaper. The fabric hanging from the seamless holder just wasn't cutting it. He probably won't ever buy a doll, but is a huge help and support to our obsession :aheartbea

    3. Aww that is so nice of your husband to do all of that for you. Sounds like a sweetheat. Even if he doesn't like the dolls, what he does is a huge help and he no doubt loves seeing you and your daughter happy.:)

    4. my youngest sister adores them. I'm buying her her first doll for her birthday/christmas. My other siblings are so-so about them. My mother, on the other hand, is kind of getting interested in them. When she found out I was getting a girl to go along with Locke she immediately started asking me about their relationship with each other (were they related, dating, married, ect?) which I thought was really amusing.

edit: my twin has confirmed that she is breaking down and getting a doll. Jeanemon and I finally won our battle with her. XD She's become a doll-lover too.

    5. my husband isn't precisely into them, but he sews clothes for me, and makes jewelry and rosaries :) he also offered to adopt my Ruthie, whom i'm having troubles with.

    6. Nobody from my family is into BJD's. Well, I don't have sisters, and my two brothers and dad are very much into motorsports. My mom isn't very girlish, so she doesn't like dolls. I guess I'm the only one, since I don't even have sisters who I could "corrupt" into BJD's. ^^;;

    7. Hmm, well I can blame one of my cousins for introducing me and her sister to AJBD. Now whenever we get together all we talk about is dolls and sewing for them.

    8. no one in my family is into bjd, but my husband does not mind, my daughter thinks i am a bit nuts, and my son is happy i have a hobby.... i am working on one of my neices who is almost 14 , and used to be into lollypops. she has promise! diane

    9. For me what is really cute is my little cousin. he likes to help me with my dolls. he will carry them from my grandparents house to mine or whatever i am doing with them. he especially likes my little cherishdoll chubby Kei. he thinks of him as his doll in a way. with his size he is easy for him to carry and handle. he knows both my girls names and helped my with the box opening of Reina and Kei. he keeps asking me when he can get a big one like mine. he is 6 so i don't think so. if i get my big boy he might try to take him. we will see. i know this is just a phase that he will probably grow out of but i am enjoying it while i can. :)

    10. Nobody in my family really is, my sister has a few non-BJD dolls, but I'm the only serious collector. Some of my friends are into it.

    11. My little sister loves bjds :3. Others... nah.

My brother infact saw my bjd-boy first time today, and he just laughed and said:
"Look, there is mini-you!... I mean, same hair as you have anyway."
xD. We don't look alike with Ara, but we indeed both have dark brown hair...-__-'.

    12. Nobody for me. All uninterested. Fiance very uninterested.

      Carolyn

    13. My Husband think they are creepy, but my mum wants one, and my nana is in love with coppelia! I'm making a doll for both of them.

    14. Well I'm 25 so I don't need my family to support my hobby... but it would be nice to have someone to share my interest. I try to tell my grandma about the things i have planned/show her photoshoots I've done/dolls I want etc. She doesn't really pay attention, only the "polite" kind of attention. I really wish my boyfriend was into them >_< That would be so awesome. My bestfriend is mildly interested in them. She doesn't really have any desire to own her own but she loves dressing mine/taking pics etc. We've spent alot of time looking at dolls online together / showing eachother ones that we like and ones we don't etc. So that's kinda nice. XD

I know one thing though... if I have kids I'm doing everything in my power to get them into the hobby once they're old enough. Probably around age 8 I'll start them with a vinyl bjd like a DD or gooodreau. Once they're around 13 or 14 I'll buy them a resin one and hopefully foster and encourage a natural love for the hobby :D Then I can play with them all while they're at school /ebil grin lol

    15. After I got my dolls, my sister was the first to jump in and get one and then two. Next, I got one for my daughter for her birthday last year and now she's, of course, begging for more and so is her little sister. Then, my mom got a tiny and is now getting another one that's a little bigger. I love having my family enjoying a hobby that I love so much!

    16. None of my family are into it, but some of my friends are. I learned reasonly my mom doesn't mind mine as much as I though she did. She thinks they are pretty, but I'm sure she's not interested in getting her own. I think my little brother is the same way. He's okay with it but doesn't really care. I haven't shown anyone else in my family my dolls. I'm sure they would find them neat but won't want to buy them.

    17. None.

But my mom's best friend is really into them :3
(she knits little hats and scarfs and sweaters for mine)

    18. My older sister, who's inactive on DoA now
she was the one who got me into BJDs >3<
and my younger sister also likes them, I think she wants DoD's E-an but is not buying one just yet (she will though~!)

    19. No one else in my family knows anything about them. :( Maybe when I (eventually) get my own I'll manage to get them into it!
