1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Which of your family members are into BJDs?

Apr 14, 2007

    1. Well, since this a pretty new hobby for me right now, I haven't really had the chance to tell anyone in my family about BJDs. And that's also because I think I should wait until I have a bit more saved up to show I'm serious about adopting to do so as well, or else they might just end up laughing at me. Ha. Although I have told my father, he appreciates beautiful craftmanship, so when I began showing him some of the dolls from DoD, he readily agreed with me how gorgeous they were. When I told him I wanted to purchase one some day, he seemed pretty pleased that I was willing to take this into my own hands and save up the money myself. I know I can always get my dad's support if its for something that will make me happy, so that's all I need right now. :)

    2. Oldest son is really into cosplay, and I think if he wouldn't get laughed out of his dorm, he would like a male BJD to dress in companion clothing....

    3. i decided that i didint really want to get any of my freinds into BJD's untill i actually had one, and i havent really told any of my family about them accept my sister but only becuase she asked me XP. My mum just thinks im (or rather calls me)a doll perv O_O cause she always sees me looking at dolls whenver she walks past my room ^^; not to sure about my dad though

    4. My bestfriend and mom weren't too into bjd's before I got mine. But I think after seeing them and playing with them they're more into them then I thought they would be. My friend is saving up for her first doll and I'm getting my mom a DIM Minimee for her birthday. :) No one else in my family knows and none of my other friends know.

    5. My dad can't understand why I would even want a $200 dollar doll and just keeps telling me not to get obsessed. My mom isn't in to the dolls themselves so much as she is sewing for them, but she at least used to collect other types of dolls so she understands why I would want one. And she thinks its neat that they are so customizable.

      I don't even have any close friends in to BJDs so its pretty much just me and my doll.

    6. Besides myself, my younger sisters really like them. My mom and my aunt also like them. I have a older sister who thinks they're beautiful, but wouldn't pay so much for one. ^^; My dad kind of likes them, but thinks I'm insane for wanting one so bad. XD

    7. My mom is very interested in what I do with my dolls, but I don't think she'd ever have one of very own unless I got it for her. I'd love to get her one--a little boy that looks like her grandson. ^-^

      My brother is into BJDs. He has two and a half big girls, and is working on getting more.

      As far as my immediate household...we're all into them. My husband has six dolls now (he adopted two of mine that I had fallen out of love with), and my son has a MSD and a Shiwoo head, and he's working on saving for a body--a hard trick when you're five. ;)

      It makes me happy to have people I can bother with doll stuff at all hours. XD

    8. none in my family, i'm totally the black sheep of the family. All the other's listen to country music and play with cars. I love heavy metal and play with my dolls :lol: :lol: But when they get to see my dolls they think their cool. and thats all i ask of them ;)

    9. None of my family like BJDs thus the problem in acquiring one as my parents will not allow me to use money acquired from my birthday to buy one. They think I'm disturbed, but that's not just because of the dolls...

    10. I've succesfully pushed my mother and my aunt into the bjd hobby *evil laught* (althought they are not as crazy as me :) )

    11. None of my family so far, but I think my mom is getting more and more curious, she is already considering to sew some stuff for the Shushu I am getting, so who knows ? ^^

      and I think some of my friends might be getting interested, even though I have yet to mention that I ordered a BJD ^^""" (they`ll probably freak out about the price... )

    12. My mom and I collect them together. It's so fun!! We are really good friends and have similar taste in things, so we tend to like the same dolls. It's great, because we can get a lot more dolls and accessories, and I always have someone to make up crazy doll stories with! However, she says if I ever move away from home the dolls will go with me and she will just come over to visit.

      My dad doesn't collect with us, but he thinks it's nice that we have a hobby we can do together - although he's not too thrilled that my mom named her Shiwoo after him! lol

    13. Neither my IRL friends nor family are on the hobby -_- it's sad. I have no one to enjoy such nice hobby with. Many of my online friends are into BJDs though.

    14. Sadly no one in my family is "into" them, though my parents seem to like my one bjd okay. And I have only one friend that is not creeped out by them. Seriously, my cousin even refuses to come into my room. I'm sure my beloved sister would have liked them plenty though.

    15. It's just me. None of my family are into them or even know what they are. I've had to lie about prices, too, to avoid freakouts. It sure would be nice if I wasn't so alone in most of my hobbies :/

    16. Everyone hates my BJDs =/ They all thing their a waste of money, something I don't know how to look after and something I'm going to 'grow out of' ¬_¬;

      I hate that patronising voice everyone puts on when I talk about them x.x;

      I have one lovely friend who likes them, but wouldn't ever even THINK of getting her own though ^.^;... I have a week left with that friend then I won't ever see her again... ;_____; *leaving school and never keeps contact*

    17. Just my daughter and all her friends, now. :)

    18. My aunt and my mother (s2kittysmom) have both gotten into the doll hobby, though I'm not sure if it is because of me or not. My mom and I actually will be running my doll table together at Animazement this year. I love being able to share this hobby with her. :kitty2

    19. I've gifted my three girls with bjds of their own. My oldest stepdaughter will be 13. She has a Soulkid Katie, a cat doll Nasia, and gets to share an oldskin Volks SD13 Show (although the latter has to stay permanently at my house, at least until she or her younger sister have a home of their own and room to keep him). I've gifted my daughter, who just turned twelve last month, with an oldskin Nana and an MSD (don't know which face), who she calls "Christopher." My younger stepdaughter will be ten in June. Thus far, she has an MSD-sized Luts Elf Ani on an MSD body. She wasn't as interested in bjds until her older sister had one, then she became powerfully jealous. I suspect that the older two will continue to be fascinated by bjd, but the youngest will go in and out of interest, unless she finally discovers how artistic we can be with them (she is an artist at heart).

    20. My mom an my sister!:love My mom and I actually bought my sister her first doll. For my mom's birthday I'm her, her first doll! :D
