1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

"Who are you wearing?" - Knowing the specifics of wigs, eyes & faceups for your dolls

May 15, 2010

    1. Wow, I can't imagine not remembering the actual mold names of my dolls! I mean, I know I have quite a number, but that at the very least is something I can do from memory. I don't think I can manage to forget that.

    2. I think it's nice to know the brand and what not, and as for more specifics, such as size, those are helpful a lot of times, especially as eyes, so I might know what size to get for my own doll, if they fit or not.
I like to know brands for the reason if I could get the same thing or not, or maybe something of a similar style.

I know everything my doll owns except his wig and shoes, both of which were unidentified second-hand objects.

    3. I have a reasonable idea where everything came from, I'm better at remembering eyes and clothes than I am wigs, although I know for certain that my Dollfie Dream wears Eve Cream wigs from Leekeworld and Tinybear wigs in Baby Blonde (to avoid staining)!

I have a pretty good idea where all my doll clothes have come from, most likely because I tend to buy from the same places!

    4. I'm like you, I only know where I got my wigs or eyes and such but not EVERY little detail like the seller or the brand or anything like that. My first doll is getting her faceup done and I at least know that I ordered her with a faceup through Mint on Card and know what company. She'd actually be the only doll I would probably know the faceup was done from, since I plan to do my own faceups since I have everything except maybe 2 or 3 things. It's always good to at least know where you go them but to know the EXACT number and things.... ^,^; uuummm.. good for people having that knowledge! -thumbs up-

    5. I make a list of what I've got and where it came from. I do this for two reasons. One, if the service and the product are good, I want to remember the name of the store so I can buy from them again. Two, so I can help out dolly buddies, and strangers too for that matter. If I have Johnny out and someone likes his jacket or wig or shoes, I want to be able to tell them "Yeah, I got that from such-and-such. Their service is good/bad/so-so and their prices are high/low/medium." I take this approach because I'd want someone to do the same for me.

    6. If I buy them straight from the site, I tend to remember at least the company, sometimes the size/color/etc, but I have 16 spoiled dolls, so that is a LOT of clothing, wigs and eyes to try to remember. I know I have well over 100 shirts alone and probably at least 50 pairs of shoes, and I can't even begin to tell you how many eyes and wigs I have, especially if you include all of the ones I've owned and sold. Add on top of that the number of things I've gotten in swaps, trades and as freebies with secondhand dolls, and I never even knew what many of them are in the first place if they don't have tags.

    7. I know the company and color/style of each item my dolls wear unless I purchased it though an eBay seller online. Some of those glass eyes aren't labeled or the company name isn't readily accessible, so it's not something I pay attention to. I like to remember just in case another one of my dolls needs new eyes/wig/etc. If someone wanted to know where I got a specific item, I would be more than happy to tell them.

    8. I like to know-- it's not often that I'm asked what specific wig/eyes/etc something is, but I like to be prepared for the occasions when it does happen. There are still times I can't help-- a default pair of eyes, or a secondhand wig, or something that was made specifically for one of my dolls as a gift, by someone who doesn't have a shop or anything. And there are times when I just wasn't prepared to take down or memorize the info for something, or have been scatterbrained when actually asked about an item.

Because of that, I'm also pretty understanding when other people don't know for sure where something came from. But, because I appreciate when someone else has that info handy, I try to know-- especially when it comes to my favorite things of my boys', or things bought from doll seamstresses and such.

    9. For wigs and eyes I cannot remember anything important, only the basic things like the color and size. I buy wigs from the most random places I find online and even though I have the sites bookmarked, I still don't remember all of the name.

BUT clothes however are a different story. For some reason I can remember where I bought them, the name, measurements, price, and pretty much everything else!

So that saying if someone wanted to know where a wig or pair of eyes came from I wouldn't be helpfu but if they wanted to know where the outfit comes from I got their back!
