1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Who do you talk to and share you BJD ideas with?

Jun 26, 2015

    1. I'm the only one in my town who is in bjd hobby, so I usually chat about bjd in internet...
Sometimes I can tell something my parents or brother, they are supportive, but don't mention it x)
So I feel lonely sometimes xDD
And because I'm only one, I don't know a lot of things about doll's care :c I'm afraid to bath or restring them... [emoji20]

    2. I have a small circle of doll friends that I first met online, and then met in person at various conventions. We chat in emails and on forums mostly, and sometimes on the phone. We've grown pretty close!

There is also a small group of BJD enthusiasts in my hometown, and we get together on occasion for meetups. I found them on DoA.

I also like the discussion forums here at DoA. You can find people who own the same kinds of dolls you do and ask questions and share pics and advice.

    3. I usually talk to my husband about my dolls, as my friends aren't very interested in dolls. Though my husband listens to my ideas and encourages me in the doll hobby.

    4. I don't have many people to talk with about my love for BJDs ,it's just my mom,dad and my sister, since they are quite fond of arts I guess they can see the creative part in it :dance As for the rest of my world ,I mean friends,my hobby is deemed to be a weird hobby and "bloody expensive" :lol:Thank god for the site like this one and for you people :)

    5. I just recently got into the hobby (got my first doll a little over a week ago) so I too don't have many friends or people to talk too.
My mother is the person I talk to the most, she is also quite interested in the dolls too so I don't think she minds talking about them. :XD:

    6. Since I dont actually know anybody in the community, I mostly only talk to my boyfriend about it. Though hes pretty good at seeming interested in them. He said he wants one eventually, but he wants me to do the customizing part because I enjoy it and hes not very artsy. Hes really good to talk to about it because he always tries to sound enthusiastic and interested and asks a lot of questions :D

Even talking about it with other doll owners though makes me feel weird. I guess I still feel a little too old for dolls even if the people im talking to like bjds themselves. But I do post a little about it on tumblr, since the only people I know irl that know about my tumblr are my boyfriend and best friend. So I guess I somewhat anonymously talk about dolls over tumblr. Well, and here now I guess.

However I feel like id have to talk to my stepbrother about it one day. I sort of messed up my dolls first dye job, and my door was open and he walked by and theres my spotted dirty looking eyeless grey naked doll just laying there without half her head on. He probably thinks I was doing some kind of voodoo thing.

    7. My daughter is my doll buddy. We do everything doll-related together, from looking at doll stuff online to working on our dolls/doll projects together. We habe two very distinct and separate collections each with our own style, but a lot of what we do with our dolls together ends up being very collaborative. I sew for both of our collections. She's awesome at photography, so she ends up taking a lot of the photos of both of our collections. We have even collaborated on painting a faceup (she's much better with the pastels than I am, I like doing the paint and brush work). My husband is more of a supportive onlooker to our hobby--- we both show him things we've made or work we've done, and although he doesn't have an interest in dolls for himself, he enjoys seeing the creativity and skill that goes into it.
I don't know anyone IRL who is into dolls besides my daughter, but I'm very okay with that, since I don't really view my hobby as a social activity and am not a highly social person anyway. I do share doll photos on Flickr occasionally, or post here on DoA every once in a while, but I'm not highly active online either.

    8. I mostly keep it to myself since they always change at the end and I tend to fail whenever I tell someone about my plans for my BJD's. I usually tell friends once my ideas come to fruition.

    9. My mom. She's not really into the hobby in the same way as I am, but she always likes to listen to my plans, and since I'm absolutely horrible at knitting and sewing, she helps me with those.

Also, my girlfriend who doesn't really even like dolls is so kind to usually listen to my plans, and she helped me choose a sculpt for a character she was familiar with. I'm not really friends with any BJD-collector in real life yet, but I have a few online friends that I chat with about or doll plans and ideas.

    10. My family...:) I always talk and share photos of my BJD collection with my parents and my younger brother. They aren't in this hobby but like to see how I take my doll photos and sew new outfits.

    11. Mostly I talk to my partner, which makes sense as she also collects BJD, @St. James here on DoA.
I also have some local BJD friends and we talk dolls when we get together.

My mom and sister have zero/zilch/negative interest in dolls, so I don't bore them details of my hobby. In turn they don't bore me with their interest in sports. But we are all fine with things being that way.

    12. For right now I talk to my mom :sweat I hope I don't bore her to tears with my rambling but hopefully I can get my best friend into the hobby, if not, good luck mom!

    13. My husband and my best friend from high school. Very few others show much interest. :)

    14. Well I'm lucky ugh to have pulled my best friend into the hobby and since we're inseparable I always have someone to blab to about dolls. xD My brother also lends me an ear when I ask him too and my parents do the same occasionally... Even if they don't understand everything I'm going on about they are happy to see me be so happy about something I think! I also have a few more friends I will occasionally bring dolls up to but those are few and far apart and I don't discuss them often because I don't want to bore them with stuff they wouldn't understand.

    15. I talk to my mother, because she's the only one who acts like she honestly gives a crap. My sister is afraid of dolls, and my brother-in-law...well, let's just say I feel awkward discussing dolls with him. He's not a jerk by any means, but I'd prefer not to bore the daylights out of him with random dolly chatter.

    16. My husband, my cousin, & my best friend all usually hear my dollie ideas. I occasionally will turn to them for opinions and more ideas too. :)
      No one else really cares.

    17. My mother ! Even if she doesn't care that much about dolls, hobby I still talk with her about my girls and what's outfits and characters suits them also photographing ideas !
Other people all on the internet who I really wish to meet them in person.

    18. It's actually kinda funny, I was the first of my friends to be interested in bjds but now I've gotten them a lot of them into it! Now we often chat a lot about them and other kinds of dolls. :)

    19. I am lucky enough to have my husband join me in this hobby, so we share all of our doll ideas with each other. I share some of my ideas with my mother, but she isn't too interested. My friends really aren't in the hobby so I don't really talk about it with them.

    20. I usually just talk to my BF about it. He listens, sometimes selectively if hes playing a video game, but is generally interested in my dolls and he even likes to give suggestions on outfits and hair. He pushes me out of my comfort zone a lot of the time and inspires me to do things myself instead of always commissioning others. Faceup's are a whole other story though, but I do enjoy making wigs for my dolls and I would like to do it more. I'm in a local doll group and they usually get together once a month at least to chat and have a nice dolly day. I am not close to any of them though so my BF will have to do. ^^
