1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Who do you talk to and share you BJD ideas with?

Jun 26, 2015

    1. My forum friends mainly, and my close family second, but not too much as i see their eyes glazing over and them backing slowly out of the room...

    2. I don't have anyone to talk to really, so apart from the odd comment here in the forum, I keep it to myself, which is a shame, because I'd love to talk more, and actually meet people who are doll owners themselves. I've attempted to talk to friends and family, but they tend to think it's very strange that I like and own dolls. My husband seems to think it's a bit of a waste of money since I dont' have as much time to throw into the hobby as I'd like, because of work/family life etc. My daugther shows a slight interest, but only so far as begging to be allowed to do a faceup :XD:

    3. I have some doll group friends, some of my closest friends, and my boyfriend.
Also have met some amazing people on the doll boards, and have a lot of fun with them.
And, believe it or not, some of my staff that I am close too.... we have worked together a long time, are fairly close but not tight, and share lots of creative ideas ( I work in a very creative department so just about anything is discussed openly without judgement).
They even tolerate my new found obsession with the TMNT - lol!

    4. I don't really have anyone to talk about dolls with offline mostly because i feel like I'd just be annoying them with all my talk but I do have a couple people who I am able to share some things with. I do talk a bit with my mom as well as sometimes while I'm sewing she's helping out, so I end up talking about the doll stories and stuff.

    5. I got a loosely-networked group of friends and we sort of hang out together online and dish on dolls and doll ideas.

    6. The BJD collectors I personally know are mostly into the cute girl dolls, and only one does her own face-ups. Nothing wrong with that, I'm just "in a different part of the pool," stylistically. I'd say I'm at least as good at the technical aspects of doll customizing as they are, so when I need a 2nd opinion, I usually turn to someone on line. However, I do sometimes get good ideas from people who aren't into dolls at all. My town has a small arts community that is very supportive.

    7. My roommate! She's got her own collection and since we live together, it's like having a doll meet every day! She can tell me ideas for faceups and I can just do them on the kitchen table. It's wonderful. :D My boyfriend is supportive, if a bit weirded out. He says, "They have such big boobies." (Granted, some of them do, yes, but Soom girls don't have much choice in the matter!) He grew up with only a younger brother and is used to seeing American Girl or baby-dolls. BJDs are a whole 'nother animal.

    8. My closest friends (or I used to before I left the hobby). I even convinced one of them to get in the hobby too, so we used to have mini-meetups and talk about BJDs all the time!
Nowadays I mostly talk to my girlfriend about it, but even though I know she likes them, I'm still a bit scared of boring her with all my dollie talk ;-; I think I definitely need more friends who are into this!

    9. I share with my boyfriend, but he is not interested, he prefers gundam more :(

    10. No one, really. I used to have a friend or two interested in dolls that had them but that excitement sort of faded for them. My mom just glazes over when I mention them and my partner is both long distance and slightly terrified of them, too. I belong to some groups on FB and watch a lot of people on YouTube but I'm horribly shy and my social anxiety mixed with past bad experiences at meet ups keep me wary of them.

    11. Does my dog count? He's pretty awesome about it.

My partner allows them in the house and doesn't mind me playing with them. I stopped talking to him about BJD and my ideas for them though because we're like day and night. If I love something he'll usually dislike it and vice versa. I'd rather not go into debate over something as 'silly' as BJD.

I'd love to have more friends to talk to but I'm a little socially awkward. I'm trying my hardest though and do enjoy the company of online friends a lot. I'm sure everything will turn out easier when I've been in the hobby for a little bit longer.

    12. my sister and my meetup friends!

    13. With a friend who is in the hobby we talk about our stories and my big sister she giving me characters ideas!

    14. My husband is my constant doll sounding board. He may not remember exactly which one is which character but he always gives me honest opinions and is very supportive!

    15. I talk about mine to anyone who will listen. I'm a member of a local art society and took one of mine along to the drawing group and we all drew him. They thought he was great.

    16. I usually talk to my mom since she's the only one in my family that is actually interested in the hobby. She supports me so yeah.

    17. No one at the moment. I don't really know anyone that collects dolls that I'm good friends with. I'm hoping to one day get up the nerve to bring my doll on an outing with me and maybe find someone XD

    18. At first I talked about this with a sweet girl named Lisa.
But I didn't have one back then.
Later on when I really wanted to buy one I could talk about it with my boyfriend and very good friend Gina <3
Maybe she wants to buy one too!

    19. I talk to my mom and my sister. If I need suggestions or opinions on certain dolls or sewing for my dolls, I always call one or the other or both! :D

    20. I am lucky. My husband will gladly talk to me about anything. Dolls included. But I also have friends who are into bjd. They are real life friends but they do live far away. But that is what skype is for!:)
