1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Who do you talk to and share you BJD ideas with?

Jun 26, 2015

    1. At the beginning I talked to no one about the hobby. Now I have some BJD-friends IRL with whom I can share my ideas. Or I talk to my boyfriend, even if he cares little of my dolls! :XD:

    2. I still talk to my younger sister about my doll plans and dreams, haha.
At first she was interested in buying one too but after i got my first doll she thought they were kind of boring.
I'm sure i annoy her with my doll talk sometimes but for the most part she will say which dolls she thinks are cute and stuff like that.

    3. I don't really have any BJD friends, but I have friends I talk to about BJDs to...hah. I've gotten a few friends interested into buying BJDs before, so maybe I'll have BJD friends soon  but that's who I mostly talk to, friends. Most, if not all, are online and on the other side of the world. They're all (the ones I tell/talk to about them) generally interested or don't mind me rambling to them, sometimes I ask them for opinions on certain things and explain the hobby to them too.

I also talk to my dad about them. He's not interested in them but we discuss our hobbies, it's how we bond. :)

    4. I dont have any real life bjd friends either, but my best friend is pretty good at hearing me ramble on about doll stuff, haha!

    5. I have some IRL BJD friends which really rocks. It's so much fun to meet up, go fabric shopping together or just sit together working on our projects. My little sister also collects BJD's. But I really also love talking to my online buddies! It's so much fun to just keep in touch and talk dolls with people on the other side of the ocean. I also tell my non-dolly friends about projects I'm working on. They might not personally be interested in the dolls themselves, but I have friends who are interested in sewing, woodworking, embroidery and hair, so they still love to hear about what I'm up to.

    6. I talk to my husband, who listens patiently, but doesn't really care. I feel so lucky to have made friends with an awesome bjd collector who lives just a couple of hours away, so now I sometimes make it to meets. It's so amazing to connect with people who don't think you're crazy being a 40 year old who plays with dolls!

    7. I talk alot about them with my aunt, she has 3 dolls herself and about the same size as mine, so we swap clothes sometimes. My brother's girlfriend just got into BJD too and will be ordering her first doll today. Other then that, noone really cares about the dolls.

    8. No one IRL for me :( All my custom dolls are "Barbies" and anything I'm interested in but the people I live with aren't is dismissed any way. My dolls wish they had other dolls to talk world domination with.

    9. Mostly I share with my brother and my roommate, occasionally with my husband. Oh, and I do talk dolls with my son!

      We're a big, happy doll family here...^-^

    10. My husband, mostly because we share the money now and that's a huge factor with the hobby.

    11. No one really :( There is a small group of owners that has a meet up in Fresno and we talk about dolls! But I'm leaving soon for a place with even fewer owners- Eugene OR! So I'll have even fewer doll people to talk to!

So I guess I mostly just on the forum... Which is hard because it's funner to talk to people face-to-face about dolls.

    12. Online friends mainly

    13. My local BJD group, the workshop forum and my husband. I have gotten ideas from dA and gotten permission to use their sketches as inspiration.

    14. I have a few online friends that own dolls and I've always been so jealous of them cuz I had wanted one for years. When I bought my first one a short while back, I actually sparked one friends interest in her dolls again since she hadn't touched them in a very long time. Now I've gotten my mom interested in them as well and she's already bought one for herself. I have no idea what my sister or other family would say as they don't know about them yet. My sister likes them but since we hardly talk, I have no idea what her reaction to my having one would be xD

    15. My close friends who some happen to collect bjds as well! (((: (and are the ones who got me into this hobby)

    16. Nobody, really. I would talk to my boyfriend but he tends to complain why none of the dolls I like look exactly like the dolls in Rozen Maiden :/

    17. I'll mention plans to FlyingCodeMonkey (Mr Brightfires-) occasionally, but don't tend to go into a lot of detail... He's not at all hostile when it comes to the dolls, but they're not really his "thing" either, so it just feels rude to me to drone on for too long about something he has no interest in.

Most of my off-line friends and family are a similar story. When I'm talking to them, it's more likely to be about gardening, photography, the comics we're reading, or our tabletop games or what-ever-else it is that we have in common rather than my resin minions. They aren't against the hobby. They're just not terribly interested, and I know it. Only Mino and LoJo, the two who have dolls themselves, are apt to get their ears bent over who or what's new, or how X is driving me nuts by looking bad in Every.Single.Wig.EVER... Mostly because I know that those are things they can relate to.

On-line, it really just depends... Sometimes I'm chatty about what I'm doing, and sometimes I'm not. Some communities I frequent include "doll people", while others don't and I'm not going to drag a doll discussion onto a forum for keeping roses or planted aquaria. In any case, doll board or not, I tend to avoid saying much about my specific characters or their backgrounds unless asked. It was drilled into my head very early on with the RPGNet crew that "Nobody wants to hear about Your Character", and to some extent I agree with that sentiment. So, I'll talk about sculpts and wig sizes and where to buy outfits, but usually not about why the Lover Clad in a Raiment of Tears replaced Scribe's eyes with amethysts or how Keirian and his brother ended up turning a half-wrecked merchant ship into a roving Hermetic covenant.

    18. I have one IRL friend I can talk with and a few online friends. Though lately the online friends have kinda been a little absent and I'm afraid to contact them out of fear of being a bother. :sweat

    19. At present, it's mainly my Daughter, who has always loved anime, video games, and art, so she's very good at suggesting characters and dressing ideas, especially for supernatural beings. I don't think I would have come up with hot pink lederhosen for a grey resin doll on my own!

    20. I normally speak with my husband he fully supported the hobby and more often than not will ask me what I'm doing with my dolls.
