Why do you choose white skin dolls?

Jun 27, 2014

    1. I love the look of white resin, though I tend to avoid it because I hear it yellows quickly, and the white doll I own get dirty really easily. But I have always loved pale colors, and my characters tend to be connected with cold, wintery places and elements, so it suits them nicely. Also, I personally think white is the easy resin to work with clothing/accessory white. Everything looks nice on a white doll!

    2. I have one white skin doll so far, and I chose white for her because she is the fairytale character Snow White... so it only made sense. I love the way it looks with her hair and faceup, and the pale color and delicate, porcelain look it gives her makes her a perfect Snow White.

    3. To me there is a fantasy quality to WS dolls, whether they are some non-human creature or just very pale. I think they look really ethereal and beautiful...

They are also somehow daintier than other skin tone dolls, sort of like porcelain.

I actually kind of regret getting my first and only doll (currently) in NS... WS would have been prettier and also worked better for the character. It seems like all the dolls I want are going turning into WS dolls, too e-e

    4. I choose them for much the same reason I wanted a blue and green dolls. I like the color white. I have several NS dolls in PNS and one in YNS so far. But I also have blue and green and white. I'd like to have another shade of green and maybe even a dark purple doll too at some point. I do tend to like pale redhead and raven haired dolls. White does look better when you're talking about a look for dolls with those hair colors. The contrast is nice.

    5. This is going to sound somewhat boring... but I got my "vampire skin" doll because it was the only way he came in at the time. (The regular skin version was sold out.) But when he arrived, I really loved the way he looks. It was easier to get a more subtle pastel work on his face and there's a faint, translucent feeling to his skin that makes him look almost ethereal. So now that I think of it... even if I had the choice, I would probably still go for the one I have now.

    6. I got an RS Mei with white skin because of the ethereal quality it gave her.

    7. Since I'm so pale myself, I really feel a connection with my WS girls.
Not to say I dont have a few tan ones here and there... but the pale is so pretty it looks almost likes its glowing.

    8. I like the look of aged FL WS. It's not really white anymore, but more of a creamy color that looks like a naturally really pale person.
I don't really like the stark white that they start out as.

    9. I love white skin and I am as white as anyone could be. I think snow white skin emphasizes how delicate these dolls are.

    10. I feel like white skin adds to that pure, ethereal look of BJDs. It accentuates their unreal perfection.
Myself I don't actually own a white skinned doll, though. I would love to because of the perceived quality of the color but yellowing is too much of an issue for me. I have a hybrid with a head in LUTS RS-normal which is so pale compared to my normal skinned dolls that I'm in fear of actual white skinned dolls. I can just handle that color, I'm not sure if I'd be able to with white skin, though. I'd probably be too afraid to take it out of the box. :sweat

    11. I never intended to get a white skin doll but I went to Mint on Card and they had this Angell-Studio halloween Gus in stock in white skin and he was lovely looking. So I got him :D Glad I did, I love yosd's more than I ever thought I would.

    12. I prefer the white skin on dolls like my girl that i just ordered because she is an elf and her character is delicate and feminine and the WS embodies that and makes her look ethereal which i want for her. So I so far prefer the WS option.

    13. I choose white skin on my fantasy dolls. My vampires all have white skin (and one with very pale NS), where all of my humans have the NS skintone. Like MaggieStorme said, I also believe that WS dolls have an ethereal quality about them, so I pick WS if I am going for a fantasy character.

    14. I'm another pale girl :) so it helps me bond with the character of the doll but I also agree it looks ethereal and delicate, like porcelain or china.

    15. I got a WS doll only once because the character had to be all white - white skin, white hair, white dress. The other dolls are in normal/ normal pink.

    16. Oh my... I have 3 white skinned dolls now. The first one I got be course it was the only color the head come in. Or that I could get hold of. And then a body to match it. For the second one, it was the color I liked from the company. It was released in white and grey skin, and I choose white. For the third doll, I got hold of a loose body, and adopted it. The body was in white skin and then I had to get a head to match. BUt I really like white skinned dolls, love the pureness of the white color.

    17. I always loved pale skin, I' m very pale too and white skin has someting very fantastic, ghostly or dramatic depending on the custom.

    18. Sometimes its easier to blush white dolls to get the skin tones you want. I know a lot of people who choose white skin because they faceup and body blush very realistically, and building the skin tones that way is easier on a "blank" canvas. It also helps if you want to Rit dye the doll.

    19. I do not own any white skin dolls, but I plan to. I chose that color resin because it suits the character, who has pale-ish skin.

    20. The white dolls I've purchased were white because that was what was in stock at the time. I have a horrible time waiting for dolls and like to have them now now now. I would really like to get a tan doll next but we'll see if I can wait out another preorder.
