1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I usually comment if the pictures particularly appeal to me - I must admit, I don't trawl the Photography galleries much, but post quite a lot. >< I read a lot of photostories and usually the ones I comment on are either entertaining stories, interesting characters, or good photography.

Also a bit of favouritism in that if I see a thread made by a friend, I'll do my best to comment for them cus it's nice to feel appreciated and everybody puts a lot of hard work into their photostories. :3

    2. I try not to comment unless I have something new to say (I guess we're mostly talking about in the photostories and gallery sections?)- but sometimes I love something so much I can't help but spout out another "OMG I LOVE IT!!!" even when 50 other people have already said it  These days I don't have as much free time as I used to, and I usually just try to scout out photos and stories of my favorites dolls or posted by my friends.

    3. Something about the doll impresses me. I am very artistic and I like expressing my thoughts on things that impress me artistically.

    4. If I have a particular interest in that type of doll and I like the pictures..and specially if I kind of know the doll or the person posting it ...like if I know their reputation for faceups.. ie enigmadoll, Pepstar..etc....

    5. I make it a usual policy to not comment in the popular kids' threads, not because I don't like them (err....usually :sweat ), but because I'd rather find that one thread in the gallery that has like 3 posts in it. I've found some really lovely dolls and photos this way!

And of course, I love to find the threads that have my personal fav dolls in. :D

    6. I'd pay more attention to page views than number of comments if I were interested in knowing how many people were looking at any given thread... Why? Because I know that there are an awful lot of people out there who browse the Gallery the same way I do. They look at a *lot* more threads than they comment on.

So why not comment on every thread I browse?

Sometimes everything that needed to be said already has been. (To me, as a thread poster, three pages of "Looks fab!" and "Oh pretty!" with no other commentary is less interesting than five comments that actually SAY something... Although I'll admit to resorting to those short little two word posts myself if I'm in a hurry or can't think of anything more constructive to say. 8P)

Sometimes the only thing I want to say isn't appropriate to the atmosphere of DoA.

And sometimes I'd just rather be a passive observer than an active participant...

When I do comment, it's always because the thread has motivated me to say something, even if it's just "Pretty doll." I'm not going to comment just because the Reply button it there, in other words, or simply because it's a photoset of a specific sculpt or doll that I'm fond of. Call it... keeping DoA's signal-to-noise ratio down. ^_^

    7. I usually only look at dolls who's type I enjoy, or posts from people who's dolls I know and enjoy.

Sometime's I'll randomly look in but I've been unpleasently surprised by some content so I don't generally do that anymore.

Also as there is such a negative reaction to any type of comment but squeeing, that I don't usually comment.

    8. I sometimes comment on people with popular reputations, but that's not because their popular, more like th other way around: they're popular for reason sthat I like them (good photography, photostories, whatev)...

but otherwise I jus tlike to browse...sometimes I don't want to sound redundant in a thread or just don't have time or energy.

    9. i definetly only post if i recognize the mold and if the pictures are particularly gripping in a way. I may comment if i see that some don't have any comments and will then compliment whatever i like about the pics. "Cause i know how much work goes into a photoshoot only to have people not comment, it gets disheartening. If its someone who, as mentioned before, has about 4 pages or more there's not much i'll add that hasn't been said so i usually don't bother, even if its someone i know.

    10. I comment if I like samtehing or if I don't like samething and sameone asced about opinion. I comment to give poeple the motivation to post more and more photos because I love watching photos. Sametime I comment just becouse I know and like the owner, and would like to be in touch with her/him.

    11. I'll make a point to comment for my friends, sometimes even if I've commented on their LJ already. To support them, I don't know ^ ^;

A lot of the time when the posts are by the more "popular" users, if I don't have time to comment I just skip it. I figure my time is better spent on someone who needs the boost, y'know? Not that I just go around picking posts with few replies; I only comment on things I like - good photography, nice outfits, etc.

    12. I sometimes deliberately comment if the author is a newish member or doesn't have any comments on the thread yet. We all need a bit of encouragement and appreciation: new members all the more so.

I agree with some previous posts in that, if a thread has tons of comments already, I'm unlikely to comment at all, unless I really really really liked the pictures/story, if it made me laugh, etc.

    13. I comment on threads that somehow move me, or grab me, or make me sit up and take notice. I can't quantify it more than that. They don't have to have the prettiest dolls or the best photography, it just has to affect me.

I hardly comment at all these days because I hardly have any time to look at the Gallery, let alone comment. The only time I seem to have is late at night when Den of Angels is taking a hike and doesn't respond for half an hour.

I admit I look at gallery posts based on type of doll - and if the subject line doesn't have what kind of doll is in there in it, it's highly unlikely I'm going to look at it at all. And I don't read photostories at all as a rule.

I used to make a point of going through looking for posts more than a couple hours old without any responses and commenting on them, because I know what it's like not to get any response at all. I feel kind of bad because I don't have the time for that right now.

      Marcia.

    14. I usually prefer lurking on boards, but I'm new here and I figure the only way I'm going to meet people is by being more proactive so I'm trying to take the time to go through new posts and comment on them.

    15. I wish I could think of more pithy things to say than "squee! how cute" but sometimes that is my true gut reaction. I usually only look at posts when I like the mold or type of doll. Sometimes I just want to encourage the person because I think they are trying really hard to do something nice and many of us know the feeling of having tried hard with pictures and getting like no comments. Also I comment on my friends threads if I see them because, um, they are my friends? Hmmm, makes sense.

    16. I'll admit that I spend way too much time on this forum, usually when i'm procrastinating about homework. This means that if i visit the galleries, i probably look at every single post on the first one or two pages, no matter what the title or molds. however, commenting is another story.

Like mostly everyone else has said, there has to be something special about the photos that make me want to comment. Sometimes you just have to say, "absolutely gorgeous!" or "too cute!" even if there are a million of those already. It's really hard to say what makes me want to comment on a photo, since it's mostly just a random whim-- much easier to say what makes me not want to comment. shaky photography and faceups or overall aesthetics that i dislike are the main reasons I'll simply hit the back button after seeing the first pic.

But just because I don't comment doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the photos. Most of the posts on doa are quality ones :)

    17. I usually just comment on whatever i think looks nice...XD;; Or if it's a friend. .__. Even then, I would probebly only like the ones that look nice! Blah.

    18. For those really wondering, there's a thread like this about once a month, so I imagine there are a bunch of past threads behind search with lots of comments on this to peruse, too. I think I commented in a few of them. :P

    19. I just click randomly on threads for the most part, and comment if i really like the doll/photos, even if all I have is a "OMG so pretty!" I just like to show a little support for great work!

The only mold checking I do is looking out for dolls I haven't seen before or seen much of. I have to admit i didn't know there were popular people/ dolls, I'll have to look out from now on!

Also I have to say I have felt a little sad when photos go uncommented, not because I need attention, but I feel bad for my girl! I kinda figure though since she's not a mold anyone really knows, she probably won't get much love a lot of the time.

    20. My only motive is if I like the pictures T3T I'm new(ish) so I have like, no friends on here. XD And I don't really know which dolls are more popular than others, unless I see that it has a bazillion comment pages. And even then, if I really really like the photos, I'll still comment.

I don't really see the logic in holding back your comment if there are already tons of others. It may seem like if that person has a huge fanclub, your comment may not be as appreciated, but that's not true. All the artists I know prefer longer, well thought out, honest comments no matter what. In fact, those kinds of comments are really refreshing after getting a bunch of mindless "Wow, that's so pretty!" comments. (No offense to people who leave comments like that, I do it too! Most of the time I can't think of anything exceptional to say u_u)
