Why do you comment on something?

I comment on most of the things I read or look at. But I mostly just look at stuff by people I talk to regularly. There's a little group of us that almost always comment on each other's things.

 

I usually only get like 4 comments on any photo posts I make, so if I'm browsing the gallery and someone took cute pictures of their dolls, and there aren't many comments, and the photos are in focus, I'll try to find something to complement the poster on for encouragement. Sometimes it's just a huge bummer than on a board with over 10,000 members, only a handful will acknowledge the hours of work put into a photoshoot. ;p Other than that, if I find really pretty photos I definitely say something no matter how many or how few comments are already posted.

 

I comment on almost every post I rad that I haven't commented on yet xD Then I'll just casually browse.
I know that when I post, even a "Nice photo!" makes me feel happy so I hope my posts will encourage someone to continue posting photos/works.
I don't really look if the person is popular, I'm still new here so I don't really know anyone yet ^^;

 

I post a lot, but I can't post on EVERYTHING... There are some lovely images up in the gallery and sometimes I just can't think of anything useful to say... other than: "lovely!!!" and that's been posted tons of times before.

Often I will just not comment. I hope the poster of the thread will be happy with the number of views!

Sometimes there are just too many thread in Gallery--and I just don't have time to look and comment on everything!

In that case, I will look for the types of dolls I'm interested in, first.

If I see someone I know, maybe I will try and comment, but not always...

Sometimes I just don't see all the new Threads posted. DoA doesn't often work right on my computer and new thread don't always show up as new, so I don't know about them...

I understand that people love to see comments. I just hope they understand that no one is trying to ignore them! Sometimes people don't know what to say or sometimes they don't see the thread.

 

I usually comment when I'm impressed by peoples work. I think it's nice to let them know they're doing a great job and it's appreciated.
Other times I ahng out at the galleries and sometimes I forget to comment, mainly cause eveyone else has already said: yaaaaay, OMG and so on...

 

Sometimes if someones new or doesn't have many comments, I'll comment. or if it has lots of page veiws and no comments... I comment...
If it's one of my friends dolls, I'll try to comment because I love my friends and their dolls, and they have my immediate attention.
If something is pretty or just grips me I have to comment. Same if it's funny or witty. Or awesome. Or a doll I like.
ALSO if I can't think of something to say I won't comment. Not to say I don't like it, but sometimes I have stupid days where words just... escape me.
I usually comment of every photostory I read, because I know how much work goes into them, and I'm starting to appreciate the gallery a lot more.

For me it is mostly because I really enjoyed the photos and/or the story.

Also, sometimes because one or more of the dolls just strikes me as a cool, or interesting character.

 

^^ I only post because the pictures are nice, the photostories are funny, if the photoshoot/photostory took a lot of work, and if I'm friends with the person. And besides, I can never shut up on DoA, so everything I see, I'll comment. xD
But sometimes, there are times when I don't comment--but that's only because I'm not really in the mood to--but that doesn't mean I dislike the doll. 8D
And I don't like how people comment threads because the doll has a popular reputation. Because that would make the person 'obsessed' with the doll. And I don't like fan-obsession, because then that would make that person love that doll more than their own! o___o! Point is that I dislike people who comment because of the doll's reputation.

I'm not saying I don't do 'wow cool' posts though; sometimes my brain fails but i still want to say something because wht I'm seeing is just so neat!

I visit DOA often, but don't usually visit the galleries much because I'm usually either at work or with friends who don't know about this hobby and people are constantly walking behind me to get things.

Therefore, because I close the gallery window faster than I do the general discussion, the photos that I'll comment in will be ones that capture my attention fast in some striking way (ex: colors, creativity, effort, etc.) But if what I wanted to say has already been said by someone else (in a thread with several replies), I usually don't post because I figured that the poster already knows. T_T I suppose this is why I end up not posting in a lot of gallery threads that I like. Hmm... *reconsidering my commenting habits*

 

Because there are a million pretty dolls on DoA and my fingers would fall off if I commented on every thread that UI looked at. It's the ones that really speak to me that I comment on, or if I know the person as a friend, I'll converse with them in their thread. Maybe about the doll, maybe not.

 

I comment when I really, really, really like the doll and/or the owner. I comment for other purposes also, but y'know..those are easy to figure out.

 

I tend to comment only if something really speaks to me and I can think of something more than "omg, how pretty!" to say. It's not so bad with friends, because chances are, they already know how I feel about their dolls aside from the prettiness factor. There have been a few times where I honestly can't think of anything else to say and really, really want to leave a comment, but otherwise, I try to only do it if I can say something meaningful.

I'm most likely to comment if the pictures are beautiful, or if there's a lot of thought behind it. I've seen some pictures that aren't perfect, but you can tell the owner really loves their doll, and I think that's worth a comment. The doll doesn't have to be drop dead gorgeous either (just well-done), but I do prefer unique dolls- dolls that have a certain something that others don't, even if the mold is common.

I used to try and leave comments for people who posted in my threads, but since I rarely do regular gallery posts anymore. . . though if someone replies to a picture I've left in a request thread, I'll still try to seek out some of their gallery threads and comment in return.

 

I usually only comment if I have something to say. I mean...even if the photos are nice, I usually won't comment if it doesn't interest me.

 

I comment if i feel moved to do so.
I comment if I see something striking.
I comment sometimes if I see a post without comments and don't understand why.
I comment if I see my fave dolls.

 

I'm not sure how I choose to comment. I guess I try to comment on my friends' threads, because I like to support and encourage them. I also like to show my appreciation for photos I really like.

I look at lots of threads, but I don't always comment. Heh I'm sure lots of people do it y'know? I definitely don't get lots of comments on my pictures and sometimes the comments I give seemingly kill threads haha, but hey sometimes that's just how it goes XD

 

A big factor on whether or not I comment is if I have time to comment. Sometimes I'm very busy and/or rushed, and it seems like it would be so easy to just leave a simple comment, but I always want to say something specific about why I liked the pictures or what it was about them that appealed to me. I should comment even if it's just to say "Ooo, pretty!" I know, but sometimes I barely have a chance to see the galleries, though I love looking there. That's just me. I know I need to be better with leaving comments though.

 

I comment if I like the pictures, sometimes I'll just leave with no comment but think "I hope they know they're dolls are nice", which really doesn't help the OP.

Some stories I comment on out of habit and because I follow the story/dolls. Though if it's just a random photo shoot with more than one page of comments, as stated above, someone else has probably already said what I would have.

 

Part of the problem may be no one has visited the gallery. Sometimes I don't comment even if the pictures are nice is I don't want to seem like I'm spamming or anything.

Even if some pictures aren't nice, I'll leave a comment if the person didn't have any D:
