1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Why do you think BJDs are anatomically correct?

May 12, 2007

    1. Are you more likely to buy a doll because it is anatomically correct?
with times I came to think it was better if the boys have something down there. at first if creeped me out a little bit but now, because of how feminin some boys are, I feel they need that to be really BOYS. but I don't like if it's too detailed though :sweat

If you own anatomically correct dolls do your parents/friends feel uncomfortable around them?
my dolls keep their pants on so I don't really know xD my parents found that hilarious. they took my boy, pulled his pants down and stared for a few minutes with amusement. but the rest of my familly and friends KNOW he has something but never saw it.

Do you display your dolls with or without clothes on?
ALWAYS with clothes (well, just panties is enough huhu x) )

Is there a point of having an anatomically correct doll?
so the boys really feels like boys?

edit: BTW except some tinies and volks special body (angel?) all male dolls are anatomicaly correct. fairyland MNF and chicline girls don't have a slit but all other girl dolls I can think of do.

    2. Genitals are part of the human body and if I'm buying something that represents humans in detail, I want them to be accurate. A doll that does not have a penis or vulva, but was meant to be male or female (I'm not talking about genderless angels and the like), to me brings the message across that we should somehow be ashamed of that part of our body. And since I have a troubled body image, that is something I want to avoid. No shame for something beautiful and natural.

But, I display my dolls with clothes on. People don't usually stay naked every part of the day. Their clothes tell us so much about who they are as a person and so likewise, if I want to show my doll's character, I need him in his everyday outfit. Only when it is vital for him to be naked will I display him nude.

    3. As previously mentioned in this thread, there is nothing wrong with nudity or anatomical correctness in Japan, Korea, and China (where the majority of these dolls are made). A good many of other dolls they make are anatomically correct. I would honestly be more surprised if BJDs weren't anatomically correct, given the cultures that make them.

I see nothing wrong with it, and actually prefer my dolls to be anatomically correct. I feel it adds to the realism, and while my dolls are truly anatomically correct (and by this I mean their proportions are slightly off), realism is important to me. I don't know what or how I'd photograph my dolls, but I like having the option for full nudity without having to explain a eunuch.

I also don't see how having anatomically correct dolls could create a skewed perception of sexuality. I'm more concerned with how the sexless dolls we find here in the West (and by "west" I mean "America") can skew that perception.

    4. I keep my dolls displayed and undressed. I prefer them to be anatomically correct - insomuch as a resin doll already stylized can BE anatomically "correct". I don't feel that they are in bad taste. Much of this sort of dialogue is probably more about social mores and human nudity than dolls....I would wager.

    5. I'd agree, Zagzagel. It's most definitely about social mores. The West has a highly skewed body image as it is, and certain groups promote the unnatural state of human sexuality and the dirtiness of the body. There is a lot of culture clash I've noticed when people start arguing/discussing dolly genitalia (visited the doll vagina thread?). I prefer them to be anatomically correct, and it always bothered me, even as a child, that the dolls I occasionally played with didn't look natural. The body is a beautiful thing.

I have one doll currently on display naked, but that's because I haven't finished sewing her outfit and I've been too lazy to put her in something in the meantime.

    6. It's a bit weird not to have gendered bits. I'm planning on turning a girl doll into a boy and kinda wish I could ad on the extra bit. XD;;; He's already going to be dressing like a women. Shouldn't have to completely deman him.

    7. I will soon change a girl doll into a boy and I will DEFINITELY add a penis. it wouldn't feel right for me if there was still a slit down there. I'll probably also add nipples even though I would have to paint all that after. but all my others dolls are anatomically correct so he would look weird

    8. ^^I agree with this.

I don't really mind the realism of the body in general - muscle tone, shape, and all - but I if you asked me why I thought they were anatomically correct to any degree, I couldn't tell you. None of my dolls are going to be put in a situation where that would be important.

I really don't see what would be wrong with them being like Barbies and Kens. I've said this in another thread, but I think I would've been a lot quicker to have male dolls into consideration when I ordered my first doll had they not been anatomically correct. People in my life are against this hobby already, and I really didn't need to add this to the equation. I was ok with Ken and Barbie being made the way they were because I knew that they weren't real people, and their 'unrealness' made sense to me. That's why I'd be ok if these dolls didn't have parts, because they're not real people.

I don't intend to have any of my dolls sit around naked, but it's not so much that they're naked; it's because they just look incomplete without clothes.
