Dollshe and the sculptor may not advertise his products on this forum. Sales may not be discussed, no news threads may be posted regarding new releases. Wig sizing for pukipuki, realpuki

    1. I'm fairly new at this, still trying to figure things out. For instance, when looking at doll wigs size 3-4" they are, many times, modeled by taller fashion dolls (Barbie size head).
      So, other than length, is there a size difference between wigs for tall dolls with small heads and shorter dolls with the same size head?
      I'm trying to outfit pukipuki and realpuki without their hair overwhelming them. Here's Obi wearing a 3-4" wig, the kind that looks like a Football helmet. I styled it into pigtails.

    2. Nope, it pretty much goes by head size, though some wigs and styles work better on specific doll head than on others. You coould try browsing Etsy for peole who make wigs specifically for RealPuki and Puki Puki, at least then the pivtures will show you how it looks on their heads. Like these sellers for example:

    4. I have two pukipuki, both legit, and they seem to have a slighty difference im head sizes, so much headachd

    5. I didn't realize that smaller or bigger heads could occur. It's good to know, so if a wig doesn't fit one, try somebody else.

    6. One is from around 2011 and the other from around 2017, I think this may have influence on this problem

    7. It is not unusual to have the same "size" of bjd have slightly different sized heads (or eye openings), even from the same company and year. It's also very difficult to find a mass-made tiny wig that isn't overwhelming, since typical synthetic wig fibers don't really scale to that size (as you experienced), and often are too full or stiff for the tiniest of bjds. That's likely why the first Elfdoll tinies (who were among the first dolls in the "tiny" range and have very small heads) had saran fiber glued to their headcaps rather than wigs.

      I have personally found more success with artist-made natural fiber wigs as suggested above. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase some from Mary Sherbet (SherbetLollyDolly) before she stopped taking commissions.

    10. I do have natural fibers, carded wool, as well as some Tussah Silk fiber. I also have viscous fiber. I've watched wig making videos.
      I'm glad you got wigs from Mary Sherbet. It's difficult to get an item from an in-demand artist

    11. Ventilation is a method where you use a specific needle to tie a strand of hair to the lace fabric and repeat until the wig is fully formed

    12. Yes, that was years ago before the tiny bjd universe took notice of her artistry. I can't imagine I'd get one nowadays.
      Bulkiness has always been a challenge when making wigs for the wee set, that balance between a natural look and making sure there is coverage. I'm not familiar with silk fiber for wigs, it will be interesting to see how that comes out.

    13. Marie Patterson from WeeDollyWears on Facebook also make adorable tinies wigs with baby mohair and so on, I cant afford because dollar is currently more than 5 reais, but if I could my dolls would totally wear her wigs

    14. Right. She does custom work and it's fabulous. But even if they were affordable for our budgets, she's booked up. Or otherwise busy.
      I can't afford $100 per wig. My dolls would be fighting each other for the wig, lol
