It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Would it be considered unethical to ask for a faceup 'touch up'?

Apr 8, 2012

    1. I see nothing wrong with asking an artist to touch up a faceup thay they did, for some money. When I can eventually take comissions I certainly wouldn't mind.

    2. I don't see any problem with that as long as you pay the artist for their services. I'd only consider it too much if you expect an artist to touchup any face-ups they've done forever for free.

    3. I don't see any ethical issue here either. It is okay for restoration. Even the artist will be honored if you do so, since that means you still like their faceup, still want them to re-paint your doll, and still remember them.

Well, that's my opinion. Since there is always an option to just let other people touch it up, because there are other issues to be considered (especially fee). So for example, you are from USA, but you adore an Australian faceup artist' work, at first you send it to her and very happy with the result. But after several years the faceup starts to fade naturally, you want it to be restored, but the shipping fee is getting more expensive, and the artist' fee is increased already, for example. This may make you reconsider sending your doll to the same artist, and maybe ask a nearby artist to do the touch up instead, isn't this? Therefore I believe the artist will appreciate that too.

The answer may be different if it is considered unethical to ask for a faceup touch up, from a different artist. Frankly I'm confused as well XD

    4. Hell, as long as you're paying! It shouldn't make a different either way, business is business.

    5. Honestly if my Mei's face up get's damaged I'd be looking for someone who could re-do her default and make it look like she did when I first got the doll. I cringe at the thought of doing a face up myself mainly because shaky hands runs in both sides of the family and paint brushes well....Me plus a resin head wouldn't end well. But I'd also be a bit worried as I've read a lot of horror stories on the board of face up artists doing what they wanted and not what the customer wanted so there's hesitation in my statement.

If it was someone I knew would do the job right yes....I'd ask them first and show them pictures of my doll and her company photo's and explain that I want her original face up restored nothing knew, nothing added just the touch up's needed to the best of their abillity maybe a tattoo or two. In the end their getting money so why should they care?

    6. I imagine if enough time had elapsed for the face-up to require repair, personally, I would probably be looking at a new face-up entirely and creating a brand new excitement with an older doll. I get bored very easily and I would look at it as a fabulous opportunity for change.
