1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you buy damaged dolls from the company?

Mar 6, 2013

    1. depends on the flaw but i think i would get a damaged doll,
i'd just bandage her up and care for her. sometimes flaws make em more interesting.
also a discount would be a nice way for me to get dolls since they're always so expensive.

    2. Like I said, I would get such a doll if the damage was not too big, and there were a nice discount. But thing is very important to me: To still receive a company certificate or something clearly stating that the doll is original!

    3. I would totally buy a damaged doll. I never plan on selling my dolls. I would even leave it and make a story about some tragedy the character lived through...

    4. I would depending on the amount of damage.

    5. If it was my grail doll or a LE that I absolutely loved, I would do it in a heartbeat. Most anything that is damaged but still able to be sold isn't really all that damaged and is usually a cheap/easy fix. And because of the damage, you'd get a pretty hefty amount taken off the total cost. I'd say it is totally worth he purchase.

    6. Definitely, as long as it's not an issue of mismixed/unstable resin. But things like marbling, too much or too little dye, bubbling in certain spots or chipping? Sure, those can be either worked with or fixed, and for the right discount I'd do it.

    7. Sure! I'm a sucker for broken things, I have this overly-maternal/nurturing streak that draws me to them. I'd want the price to be knocked down though obviously.

    8. I'd porbably say yes, too, i'd take it, you never know you might fall in love with it, imperfections and all

    9. I actually just received a doll from Fairyland that was broken, I paid full price and they refuse to help me.
If the doll is fixable, and it's cheaper, then I don't see a problem with it.

    10. I think if you'd asked this when I first started collecting BJDs, I would have said "yes, definitely". Now I'm erring more towards 'no'. I'm so used to perfect dolls now, that dealing with bubbles or severe marbling just doesn't appeal. It would bother me, I think. I'd rather pay more and have a more flawless product.

    11. I don't think a company would be open to selling damaged product. However, if they did, I would LOVE to buy damaged dolls at a discount. (It isn't their fault they're messed up!) I would love to rescue a broken doll and repair it or mod it. You know, make it beautiful, in its own way. That'd be a lot of fun, and I'd feel more bonded to it than a whole doll, I think. Like we've been through stuff together! Hah.

I do wish companies sold damaged parts. That way dyeing experiments and the like can be performed without worrying over messing up a $500 doll.

    12. I'm not picky about perfection or anything! As long as I click with the doll I'd be happy. So I would totally buy a slightly imperfect or damaged doll if it was cheaper!

    13. I would definitely be willing if it resulted in a significant discount. I doubt a few minor flaws here or there would bother me all too much. If I knew just where to buy these imperfect dolls, I'd rescue one of the lovelies in a heartbeat.

    14. I would buy damaged from a company but ONLY if was limited or a grail doll that I loved, and even then if the damage could be fixed

    15. Absolutely!

Provided that it's safe to handle and mod, and that the price is reasonable (corresponds to the damage). I'm very interested in heavy modding so, there ya go. I won't even mind broken face plates (just not for dolls I buy/order brand new) since I'd like to try my hand at restoration some day. I've seen amazing BJD restorations around and they're pretty inspiring.

    16. Depends on the damage. I would prefer to pay a higher price for the goods good quality.

    17. If the damage is not too extensive, something that could be repaired with minor modifications or covered up, and if the doll is in some sort of usable condition, I would definitely consider buying it for the right price.

    18. Depends on what broke, how badly, how big the discount is and whether or not the damage is easily fixable. if something like some resin chipped off the ankle I would gladly just patch it up. But if something like a broken arm or the body has some kind of hole or weak spot I'm not sure I'd be able to do anything to help it.

    19. I probably wouldn't buy a damaged doll unless it was very minor and in a place I couldn't see.

    20. If the doll was sold at a discount I would buy it. I don't mind fixing any errors after I receive the doll, I feel like it would be an adventure. :sweat
