1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you buy damaged dolls from the company?

Mar 6, 2013

    1. if the damage could be easy repaired and the discount would be more than it cost to repair - why not? :) I think maybe I could buy the doll if, for example, it was about to be discontinued and I really liked the dolls but I didn't have enough money to buy with the normal price ^^

    2. If it was offered for a cheaper price and the discount was worth the damage to me I would def buy one. I regret to say that I think I would be more inclined to buy them because I would feel like I'm "Saving" them.

    3. I would absolute love to buy "defect" dolls. (Of course it would depend on the damage like everyone has said.) However I feel like it would be more profitable for the company to sell damaged parts instead of damaged dolls, as one doll isn't one connected piece. All parts can be used for modding practice and finished modded parts, heads included. Perhaps the company could add an extra page with the damaged parts and a couple pictures of each. Especially if they were sold as add-ons to other purchases, I don't think it would be too hard on the company time wise, and they will get some money back from otherwise failed parts.

    4. I would definitely buy my grail for a discounted price even if he had a few flaws! If the flaws aren't too bad, there are always ways to hide them and you still get a nice lovely dollie! :)

    5. hmm, i'm not sure. if i thought the damage was reparable and there was a good discount than probably, but if the doll was important to me i think i'd want it in pristine condition.

    6. Like most people are saying it would depend on if there was a discount and the damage. Also it would have to be a doll that I don't have a character for. That way I could make a new character who's "damage" is part of their backstory or experiment with modification.

    7. As everyone else has said, it would depend on the type of damage. It'd be a nice option for companies to use though as oppose to getting rid of the doll completely. There are enough people out there who enjoy modding and trying new ideas out with bjds, so it might not hurt for some places to try and give it a shot.

    8. Depends on how extent the damage is. There's a one lady company I follow who sells masks and toys. Occasionally she had a DIY broken mask. And sometimes the way they break can actually benefit how you want it to look. Or it's something you can fix easily and for a cheaper price. So Yes. I probably would buy a defected doll for the cheeper price!

    9. i most likely would, depending on the price.

    10. As mentioned by another poster, Iplehouse does this already (they use an auction-ish format,to better gage the damaged dolls' market values.) I have absolutely no idea why other companies don't, since they must have damaged dolls which are mostly functional but have a few bubbles/poor coloring/marbling/something.

    11. it will depends on which part was damaged, definitely cannot accept damaged head

    12. I would buy damaged dolls or parts from the company, including a damaged head. It would make for good face-up practice for someone trying to learn (like me). And who knows, with a little modding, maybe it would make an interesting OOAK hybrid?

    13. I would buy a damaged doll if it was really cheap and it was something I could repair.

    14. It would depend on the doll, the damage, and the price. If it is a doll I have always wanted and is no longer available on the company website/has been discontinued, I don't see why not, especially if the damage is repairable. It would be a great chance to get a doll I've always wanted, especially if it is difficult to find in the marketplace on DoA (still hesitant to buy off of Ebay; heard too many dollfie horror stories from there. Brrr.)
Depending on the damage, I might also try to work it into the doll's design or character. I've seen posts here before where owners modded over the damage to make it work for the doll. I can't remember any specific ones at this point, but I do recall seeing them. (I think one of them might have been a Lovecraftian mod).

    15. Depends on the damage that was done and how cheap it is. In most cases, no, I wouldn't.

    16. I would definitely buy a lightly damaged doll at a discounted price. I think it would be great if doll makers offered something like that. It would be great for people who can't afford dolls otherwise and maybe even lower the amount of people who buy recasts for that reason.
