1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Would you buy dolls without visible joints?

Apr 25, 2013

    1. I love BJD's because of their joints!!!!!! So I would totally have visible joints! :love

    2. Yes, I would. But I think that hiding the joints may affect the potability of the dolls. Since the company would need to focus on appearance rather than posing ranges.

Either way, if it was a sculpt I liked, I would get it. I wouldn't prefer it to dolls with visible joints, but I wouldn't knock it down just because the joints aren't visible either.

    3. When I first started the hobby, there weren't many of those jointless dolls around. I actually really wanted one of them back then, because I didn't really like joints at first and they looked more natural as far as I could tell.
Nowadays I really prefer joints for some reason. It's just something about them. ^^

    4. They actually have dolfies without visible joints. Here is one. Picture that shows how pose-able it is.

I've considered the soft bodies for a while but I don't think they are on topic. Also the way my brain works it would bother me if one doll had joints and the others didn't. So I'd be overhalling my entire collection. Besides, joints make the engineering part of my brain happy.

    5. I actually love the joints. That's my favorite thing about these dolls and it's purely aesthetic instead of posability because I don't "play" with my dolls much.

    6. The joints are a part of a BJD for me, and this is something I really like on it. The joints are what made the doll in my mind, though I don't know exactly why. But for that reason, I couldn't be attracted by a BJD without joints.

    7. I've had dolls and toys with hidden joints, and sadly they break and can't be repaired. :...(

    8. that first one looks like an extra in a porn movie! Can't stand those vacuous faces.

    9. Bjds are what they are because of their joints and their being visible is personally important to me...so I'm not really interested in that super realism effect...

    10. I love the joints for the most part but maybe that on their hands it would be cool no to see them. It's really cool how adjsutable the fingers are but honestly seeing the finger joints in pics really throw me off. They just creep me out!

    11. I like my dolls to look and feel doll-like. So I prefer BJDs over those silicone seamless dolls. Their internal armature breaks and can't be repaired, plus I don't know how customizable they would be. Well engineered joints are a thing of beauty to me :)

    12. If I want to buy "joint doll".I think, I'm not.
But if I buy them because I like those "doll", I will buy them.
