1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you go to a physical BJD store?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. Would you go to it?
Yes! With a doll or two in tow. :D

What would you expect to find there?
Clothes, wigs, all kinds of accessories. A couple of dolls on display or for sale.

What would you want it to have?
A dressing area. Where you'd be able to have your dolls try on certain outfits before purchasing them.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
I would be fine with it as long as it's somewhat related to BJDs. But I would prefer it to not have them as it'd limit the selection of items to purchase.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I've been to Domuya's physical store back when they were still in Singapore. It was really quiet there. (I'm assuming they didn't have many local visitors back then since it was before BJDs gained popularity here.) I don't remember much of it since it was almost 10 years ago, but they did have a selection of dolls and some clothing on display.

    2. Would you go to it?
Yes! I would even apply to work there, probably.

What would you expect to find there?
Clothes, shoes, eyes, wigs, popular companies' dolls on display, furniture, accessories, as well as faceup and doll care materials.

What would you want it to have?
See above. Not expected, but highly desired: faceup services/classes, seamstress/tailor, wig care service, doll repair service. I would really prefer things be available to browse. I have kind of irregular dolls that I need to be able to bring them and try stuff on them, because chances are good that nothing will fit them.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
I don't see why not. But it would be really nice if it were primarily BJD. Not primarily fashion or porcelain or other collectible doll, which is what 4/5 doll stores I've been to have done.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I've been to DDE, and that was kind of cool to get to be in a store that knew ABJDs (at last!) but they still didn't have "everything," and it's not at all a browsing store.

    3. Would you go to it?

Defiantly :D!Although Ill be shy XD

What would you expect to find there?

      Dolls,clothes,wigs eyes XD

What would you want it to have?

All of the things above XD

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

      Yes,I might discover a new hobby ;v;

    4. A physical BJD store? For sure! There's kind of a physical store in the Netherlands which is close to Belgium but you can only visit it after you make an appointment. I don't really like the concept as then you'd feel forced to buy something. I'd love to visit a BJD store where I can just walk in and enjoy everything they're offering the shop without feeling compelled to buy something. A non-pushy shopkeeper with lots of patience and knowledge about BJD's is a must! I'd expect them to have a stock of BJD in different styles and sizes and a whole bunch of accessories ranging from doll stands, clothing, eyes, wigs to face-up materials. The perfect BJD store lets you play with the dolls they have out, off course you break it -> you pay for it. The perfect BJD store would have a little café nearby as well where doll meets could be hosted. I am so demanding, aren't I?

I'd prefer not to have other hobby items in the same store if possible. I can't even think of a hobby compatible with BJD items...

    5. As someone who lives in a rural area, one without even the most basic of interesting stores, going to a physical BJD store would be a dream come true. Right now, all I can really do is plan trips out of town to the nearest hobby store, and dream alone over my needle and thread. I'm happy I can at least share my interest in the hobby on the net, and learn from others in turn. : >

    6. Would you go to it?
      Yes, definitely

What would you expect to find there?
Dolls (heck yes!), shoes, clothes, wigs, eyes, almost everything doll-related

What would you want it to have?
      See answer above

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      Yes

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
Nope. But I wanted it too

    7. Would you go to it?

Yeah! I would love to see other sculpts in the (resin) flesh!

What would you expect to find there?

Dolls of all shapes and locales (not just Asian dolls but other bjds from places like Europe or even locally made ones). Friendly staff and even info of groups in the area would be sweet too.

What would you want it to have?

Clothes, wigs, eyes. Maybe even locally sourced stuff like custom animal parts and faceup options!

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

As long as they were still in the vein of dolls, yeah? It would be kind of jarring if it was an all hobbies kind of place. An entire section dedicated to dolls and then you look at the other wall and it's plane kits (Nothing against people who do both!)

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?

No, I haven't. If anyone knows of a place like that in Melbourne, Australia though...

    8. There is a store in the Netherlands that i would love to visit!

      Would you go to it?

      Yess!

What would you expect to find there?

      Dolls, wigs, clothes, accessoires etc

What would you want it to have?

Everything my doll loving heart desires!

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

      No, not really

    9. Would you go to it?
      yes i would

What would you expect to find there?
      Wigs, clothes,materials, dolls, furniture

What would you want it to have?
someone mentioned a doll cafe, i would love that bc i would like to meet others with the same hobby and be able to connect with them and their dolls.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
sure why not, the more the merry

    10. Would you go to it?
Yeeees. Or no I wouldn't be going there, I'd run there as fast as I can lol.

What would you expect to find there?
All bjd related stuff. The stuff you'd find on a normal bjd webshop. Except of course, seeing them in real life helps more.

What would you want it to have?
Along the the purchasable items, having some fun activities would be nice. If the shop could be like a cozy meeting place for fellow bjd lovers, that would be amazing.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Yeah, that'd be fine. As long as the other hobbies aren't overshadowing the bjd related stuff.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I haven't ;_; The hobby is way too niche where I live, there won't be any bjd stores anytime soon.

    11. Yes, and I'd want it to have all the supplies such as elastic, s-hooks, kips, etc. The stuff you need NOW and don't want to wait for a parcel from China.
I'd like it to have hundreds of eyes that I could try before buying - that would save a lot of money! Lots of shoes, too. It would be especially cool if there were a doll tailor or face-up artist connected with the shop.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
To an extent. Maybe other types of dolls, cosplay, lolita fashion, or otaku stuff. I know how hard it is for small shops to survive.

I've never been to a BJD store, there's isn't one within hundreds of miles. My town has a Hobby Lobby and another hobby store which is mostly trains and military diorama items.

    12. OMG YES!!! I'm a very physical person, I like to touch things and see them in person rather than. A physical storefront would be both amazing and the death of my wallet!

I'd want it to have mainly dolls, of course, but wigs and eyes, as well as clothes that I can actually see in person would be fantastic. I'd be fine with other hobbies, so long as there was enough wall space to accommodate a good range of doll things. I'd also prefer it be at least somewhat related, like...tiny furniture??? pastels and other art supplies??

    13. This is a really good idea, I second the supplies and ability to try out eyes. Maybe also someone who suedes joints?

    14. Would you go to it?
      Yes, duh!!

What would you expect to find there?
Dolls, wigs, clothes, accessories, furniture and maybe tools.

What would you want it to have?
Dollies supplies like elastic and tools, even a service who helps you restringing your doll. That would be pretty nice.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      Yes absolutely.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I've never been on one before sadly, but i have seen pictures that Nine9 Style have a BJD store with a Café. I really want to take a visit too see it in person it seem to be very nice!

    15. Omg yes! I would definitely go ^^ I wish I lived near DDE, MoC, or the Volks store...maybe I'll move one day...=^_^=
I'd want to see lots of clothes, eyes, wigs, etc. To be able to run in because of an emergency and grab tools and stuff. But of course the main event would be the dolls on display! It would be really nice to see the dolls in real life, have resin and size comparisons, just be able to know more of what to expect from each company before buying.
I would be fine with other hobbies, as long as they respect the bjd hobby and don't harm the dollies hahaha. It'd also be neat to see and learn about those hobbies as well.
Man, I'd love to go to DDE, MoC, or Volks. Trying to convince my parents to take me this summer...::>_<:: In vain I'm afraid!

    16. I would LOVE to go to a real BJD store, especially since I'm a newbie. It would be great to be able to see the actual doll. If they could stock it with 'used' dolls that you could buy, that would be a great draw to the store.

Being able to bring your doll and compare it to the clothes would make matching and sizing so much easier.

I had no idea there were actual BJD stores until this post! How neat!

    17. ABSOLUTLEY! Of course, there are no BJD stores in or around Montana that I could possibly get to, but if I could I would certainly go in!

    18. Yes! I would love to.:-)))
