Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Would you go to a physical BJD store?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. I will go, because is too difficult buy online for me. Also I can see the doll that I'm buying. I want to buy wigs and clothes too.

    2. I'd totally love it if there were a BJD store here, it's like a dream of mine! Honestly, if it were possible in any way and I had the funds and the hobby were popular enough to ensure profits, I'd just open my own xD

What I'd want is a dealer who orders dolls, parts, clothing, wigs, eyes and props ... everything! They'd have to have 'try-on' items in the store, where you can go and bring the doll you already own to figure out what size shoes she needs, or what color eyes and wig you prefer!
Those things really irk me about the hobby... you gotta spend a whole lot of money on things you don't even know will fit!
I'd love to be able to go to such a store, bring my SD boy and just say I need an outfit and a look for him! I'd try on different hairstyles and hair colors and find a good outfit, and the dealer could either sell them to me directly or order them for me from the various stores.
I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for the service of being able to try things on!

Of course such a store is hard to do because the dealer would never know if the things he buys in advance ever sell, especially if it's expensive items like LE dolls. But then again, if they have an online store too, it's probably not that bad.

    3. Would you go to it?
      Definitely Yes!!
What would you expect to find there?
It'll be nice to find clothes, accessories as well as dolls and also some services, likes face-up, restringings, custom wigs or clothes, second hands market.. I think the list is infinite here!!
What would you want it to have?
I'd love to have the possibility to see in person wht I'm now buying on line..and most of all try them on!

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Sure!..it'll be nice to see other things: collectable figures, manga, comics, miniatures!

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
      no..does it actually exist somewhere???

    4. I'd like to go if there was one! I always buy online which means, 1. I buy what I cannot examine fully, 2. I go through postage and money transaction risk, 3. I have to wait till I finally receive what I bought. + I cannot buy too much because of that so unnecessary VAT !
I would expect to see wigs, shoes and eyes, as well as some small accessories for 1/6 scale dolls, from various companies :)

    5. Would you go to it?
Yes! Seeing something in person gives you a better understanding of what you want to purchase. (Sometimes manufacturer photos can be misleading or not show enough detail.)

What would you expect to find there?
In stock new sculpts, second-hand dolls, limited editions, wigs, accessories, classes, maybe some communal area where people can work on projects (together or independently).

What would you want it to have?
      dolls, wigs, accessories, classes

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too
Yep. Everything can become inspiration to doll owners (who in my brief time here at DOA appear to be an insanely creative bunch).

If you have been to a physical BJD store, how was it??
I actually visited Denver Doll recently. I don't own a doll yet and wanted to see what a resin doll was like in real life (youtube can only show so much). It was nice, but even smaller than I expected (the 'store' part at least... the backroom/storage area took up most of the space). I understand why you may not want to display dolls in a floor-to-ceiling sunny window front store, but I guess I was hoping for more of a display of what they offer for sale. The woman I spoke with was very accommodating when I asked to see a doll sculpt that was listed 'in stock' on their website. And I've seen a 'behind-the-scenes' youtube video showing their immense selection of accessories... but without a doll of my own yet, I did not request to see any accessories.

    6. Would you go to it?
I would absoutly love a bjd store near me, my husband probably wont as we would be skint all the time lol

What would you expect to find there?

Clothing, Dolls, Furniture, wigs and accessories

    7. Yes oh my god!! No shipping cost or wait time? That would be amazing.

    8. Would you go to it?
      I'd love to! :love

What would you expect to find there?
Mmmm, some dolls for sure, shoes, outfits and other doll supplies!

What would you want it to have?
A large range of outfit, eyes and shoes. Some tools too, materials for aesthetic and why not supplies for wig making?

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Yes and no. It would depends on the hobbies.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
      Sadly I never was!

    9. Would you go to it?
Yes, I believe it would be an amusing pass time, not to mention the relief to not having to pay for shipping and such.

What would you expect to find there?
Well, Dolls? Clothes, shoes, accessories. Maybe BJD furniture? That'd be neat.

What would you want it to have?

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
What I stated above- though I'd be more interested in decorations. Maybe they could have a saloon for face-ups too?

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?
      Unfortunately I haven't, but I'd love to.

    10. Would you go to it? Yes, of course. I plan to visit Japan sometime in the next 2 months and I am eager to go to a Volks store!

What would you expect to find there? Dolls! And if I can dream: clothing, shoes, wigs... a little of everything.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? Well, I don't know, I guess I wouldn't mind if they had anime figures and things like that.

    11. I lived in Denver for a short period of time and I'm super upset that I never managed to find time to go to the doll store there, The Denver Doll Emporium.

    12. I went to a BJD store and it wasn't the magical experience I thought it would be. Maybe my expectations were to high??? Maybe I should have gone with other doll people rather than go in alone?? I don't know.

It was nice to be able to look at the dolls in person (and wigs and eyes) and buy the one I wanted but I had a much better experience attending and shopping at Dollism Plus USA.

    13. I would go if there is one. It's good to see the items and dolls in real life before purchasing them.

    14. I would love to ! :whee:

But that will be very dangerous for my wallet. *_*

    15. Would you go to it?

Of course! It'd be nice, since I wouldn't have to pay for shipping ^^

What would you expect to find there?

Some in stock dolls, clothing, shoes, tools, doll furniture, etc

What would you want it to have?

      All the bjd essentials

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

I wouldn't mind the store selling other types of dolls or even pvc figures

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??

Sadly, I've never been to one D:

    16. Absolutely, 100% would go to a physical store!
It'd be nice to have a kind of dress up area to try on clothes and stuff to see exactly how they look and eliminate the guess work on sizing. And a community area with a cafe or something. And an art studio for face-ups!!
      New dream...Haha. :whee:

    17. I went to a couple BJD stores while I was in Japan! It was really great because I was able to see what the products look right then and there. I remember seeing some stuff on the net there I was interested in buying and deciding not to/buying it because of that. Especially wigs and shoes. Some times the color is off on the computer and seeing it up close really help my buy but also tempting me to buy more!

    18. Would you go to it?
      Yes
What would you expect to find there?
Lots of cute clothes, friendly people, and other necessities for BJDs
What would you want it to have?
Maybe a cafe that's part of it so that we can meet people in the same hobby and have a place to talk.
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      Yes, that's alright! ^-^

    19. Would you go to it?
      Yes!
What would you expect to find there?
An unimaginable selection of accessories and dolls themselves!
What would you want it to have?
Anything for me to just browse and enjoy, really- I'd love to see gorgeous fullsets on display!
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      Of course!
If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?
It was more of a general hobby shop, but it had a few dolls in glass cabinets and they were lovely to look at! There was a selection of accessories and clothes you could look through as well, though I guess it might not really count...

    20. Would you go to it?
      • Of course! Hell, I'd even try to work there if I could.
What would you expect to find there?
      • Dolls of all different types, styles, and origins. It would have some fashion dolls like rare Barbie dolls and SDCC exclusive dolls. It would have some Azone, Pullip, and Blythes dolls along with their official clothing. They'd have dolls from all over the world reflecting all different cultures. It would also have BJDs from a multitude of companies, and plenty of wigs, clothes, and shoes for them.
What would you want it to have?
      • All of the above.
      • But it would also have classes to teach people how to sew and customize their dolls.
      • It would even have a little cafe so people can sit down and chat about dolls.
      • It could even have different displays where you can take pictures of your dolls, and it would change by the seasons.
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      • Of course! It could have dollhouses and miniature enthusiasts, and maybe action figures and figmas.
If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
      • I have not been to a doll store. However there is an American Girl doll store somewhere sort of near my house. I think it sells clothes and accessories for them, but I've been curious to see of they sell other types of dolls and their accessories as well.
