1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Would you go to a physical BJD store?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. Sure, I'd go to a brick-and-mortar BJD store if there one near me, or in an area I was planning on going to. I don't know that I'd make a special trip just for that unless I was specifically looking to buy a doll, but I'd certainly take advantage of browsing if I were in the area.

    2. It would be great to have a BJD store in my area.
      Would you go to it?
Yes. Not very often, once or twice a year.
What would you expect to find there?
Dolls, doll parts, doll accessories, crafting supplies, handmade furniture and props.
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
It would be fine if the shop itself would be a part of another shop or a cafe.
If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
No. But it would be nice to visit one.

    3. Yes. I would definitely go. All the time.
I expect to see there clothes and popular bjd dolls. Also DIY staff and props.
Cafe would be nice to. So you can meet people. Exchange and second hand.
Other hobbies- depends on the hobby. I don't want to have a bjd doll sitting near American doll or even Monster or Barbie. I think we are not that often disscusig other hobbies in here. So I don't know if other hobby would be selling well there too. If only this hobby is a photography

    4. Let's open a doll cafe

    5. Who wouldn't want to go to a physical BJD store?
I love seeing dolls and accessories in person. Plus there's 0 wait time because you can buy and have whatever you like right away. The only downsides are that you have to pay a little extra for the convenience of it and the selection is smaller than what you would find online.
I've been to the Volks store in Torrance, and it was quite a wonderful experience. I loved how they decorated the place and had a little set for taking pictures of your dolls. The dolls they had on display were customized and placed on stands. There was even a section behind the register where a wide array of blank heads were on display. There was a lady with one of her dolls taking to an employee about how she planned on customizing her new boy doll. The employees were very knowledgeable and just as passionate about BJDs as the customers.

    6. I would love to if there was one nearby. I think there used to be a store in Los Angeles but it may have closed. And I do not live near Korea. If I lived there I would probably be camped inside the Iplehouse store and they would have to kick me out! LOL

    7. Totally! I plan to go to Korea later this year, and I'm planning on visiting at least 2~3 doll stores/cafe while I'm there.

    8. Would you go to it?

Absolutely! I'm actually planning on making an appointment with Mint on Card sometime this year ^ ^ Since apparently they only are open based off of appointments xP

What would you expect to find there?
I would personally love to find myself some clothing for my BJDs. It's hard knowing what would fit an Iplehouse outside of the store, or for my Feeple65! It would be great to identify what companies they get the items that would fit my dolls! ^^

    9. Would you go to it?

Yes, I would love to go to a physical BJD store and be able to actually see items in person before deciding to buy. Unfortunately I live in a quiet seaside town miles from the nearest big city and I don't drive so the chances of me actually going inside a BJD shop is extremely unlikely. Also I don't really know of any physical stores in the UK that are dedicated to BJD's. I don't currently have a passport either so i'm not going abroad any time soon either.

What would you expect to find there?

A range of clothes, BJD accessories & supplies and even some dolls.

What would you want it to have?

      The same as above.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

I would be fine with it selling all doll related merchandise not just Ball Jointed Doll items but I'd prefer it to stick with doll related merchandise and not items that have nothing to do with dolls.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??

Sadly I've never had the opportunity to visit one.

    10. Would you go to it?
Kinda?? It is sorta intimidating since I am relatively new in this hobby. When people in the store asks me super...detailed questions, it makes feel so newbie.

What would you want it to have?
Clothes, wigs, accessories. I would want to be able to try on stuff kn the dolls and compare the sizes, etc.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I've been to Volks Korea and Nine9. Both...were intimidating. In Volks Korea, there was a man with an SD girl talking about her to the shopkeeper as if she had a personality. I felt a certain distance from him because I am not that into dolls. The shopkeeper knows the faces of returning customers. It feels weird to be a visitor. For Nine9, I visited when a bjd group was having a meet. It was a small cafe, but all the chairs were filled, and obviously everyone knew each other except me and another little girl with her daddy shopping for her doll's clothes. I was buying some hooks and elastics and the owner asked me what doll I had. I told tham DZ, which was WAY out of style/fad. I kinda felt embarressed. Everyone in Korea has Ange Ai, or Luts, or Switch, Sweetgale....i don't even know XP
But they were super nice and I would visit again...hopefully when they don't have a meet.

    11. Would you go to it? Heck yeah!

What would you expect to find there? Dolls, clothing, wigs, paints, etc.

What would you want it to have? Everything in the second answer plus maybe a cafe for food/snacks and possibly books related to BJDs

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? Not really -_-

    12. I actually visit Denver Doll every once in a while. Suffice to say, brick and morter bjd stores rock! I would totally visit more if I had the option too.

    13. Would you go to it?
I would definitely go if there were one near me!

What would you expect to find there?
I would hope they'd have dolls, clothes, wigs, and eyes at least.

What would you want it to have?
It would be really cool if it had a newsletter or something that would update patrons on what sort of stock they were getting in. Also maybe some classes to help out people who are new to the hobby or want to try out some new techniques.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
I think that would be totally fine as long as the bjds weren't just a tiny shelf in the corner or something. If all hobbies in the store were represented equally and had people who knew about each thing working at all times, that would certainly be fine.

    14. Would you go to it?
I used to live down the road from the Nakano Mandarake store.. I went just about everyday. Now I've moved to Ikebukuro and they have a closet child that's almost the same thing!

What would you expect to find there?
I was hoping to find more clothes honestly. They keep all their clothes behind glass so its really hard to see what all they have

What would you want it to have?
      More wigs and Eye selections

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      They always do

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
Well.. As much as I love Mandarake.. They had one of the Volks Shinsengumi dolls that was used, they we're asking for over $3000 for it.. Even though at the time you could still buy it on the website for $1500ish.. So.. If you do go to a physical store, check online first! Its worth it to see if they have it for cheaper somewhere else

    15. I would LOVE to go to one, i would be hoping it sold a bit of everything, dolls, clothes, miniature furniture, shoes etc, and maybe a few things i didnt know i wanted that i just had to buy!

    16. I'd go but it would be rather dangerous...so easy to buy so much! My prime target would be furniture and other miniatures, since those seem to be harder to search for online compared to clothes and the dolls themselves. Oh, and anything "store exclusive" would have to come home with me, too :)

    17. I'm not sure how well a physical store could hold itself up with just dolls, really. I would love to visit one every once in a while, though I'd probably end up leaving with several pairs of eyes and sets of clothes each time.

    18. Would you go to it?
      Of course :0
What would you expect to find there?
Clothes, accessories, maybe a few pieces of furniture, and tons of other bjd stuff.
What would you want it to have?
A BJD cafe/doll shop would be great, you could meet up with other collectors there and make friends c:
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
As long as everything is separated I guess it'd be fine. I'd want to know exactly where the doll things were so I could stay there.
If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I have not, I live in the middle of nowhere so there's not many regular stores around, let alone bjd shops :/ I'd love to go to one though uvu

    19. I'd love to go and browse dolls & clothes and actually get to see them in real life before spending money on them! I'd probably make it part of my regular shopping trip and check in regularly to see any new stock~.

As for other hobbies, I think stocking some related sewing or crafts tools & supplies would be super convenient and nice to see - or make it like one of those BJD cafes in Korea and serve some drinks & hot food to make it a fun hangout place, hehe.
