Would you go to a physical BJD store?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. Would you go to it? Yes but not often

What would you expect to find there? Clothes, eyes, all other accessories, i dont think they would keep dolls at stores.

What would you want it to have? Just depends on what i want at that moment. But mostly, eyes and clothes

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? Really a small shop, quite embarassing when i search for what i want in front of the boss of the shop...

    2. Would you go to it?
      -
I definitely would! That will be a worthwhile experience. :XD:
What would you expect to find there?
      - Well... I expect to find BJDs in different poses and outfits inside. Clothes, wigs, other accessories, and on-hand dolls that are ready for purchase may also be most likely included.
What would you want it to have?
      - Hoho practically every BJD necessity there is. I mean, wouldn't it be cool to visit a shop that has everything about its main product? *u*
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
      - It would be totally fine, well, as long as the other hobbies have some similarity, just to keep things consistent.
If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
      - I haven't been to one yet, but I plan to have a visit on some shops soon, once I am able to grab the opportunity to do so. >w<

    3. Would you go to it?
I'd go there in a heartbeat! I might get too excited and hyperventilate a bit, but I'd definitely go!

What would you expect to find there?
Clothes, eyes, accessories... Wigs. Since the dolls themselves are more expensive than everything that comes with them, I wouldn't expect to see any dolls there. Not that it wouldn't be wonderful to see them!

What would you want it to have?
At the moment, considering I'm on a wig-shopping frenzy, I'd love for it to have wigs. Basically, I'd hope to find what I need.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
I'd love for it to be all about BJD, actually, but if there are other hobbies that are along a similar line, I think that would be okay.

    4.
    5. Would you go to it?
Yes, I would buy an appartment across the street, sitting on my porch with my coffe, constantly keeping my eyes on the dolls in the window
What would you expect to find there?
Dolls on display (It's a dream to see the dolls for real), all kind of accessories, cloths and friends to dolltalk with :) And I guess also other kind of anime stuff, figures, books and so on
What would you want it to have?

All that I mentioned above, but also a small cafe for socialising, and maybe a place for photshots, and ofcourse a quality faceup/makeup and bodyblush service, and a staff with high expertise and competence
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

Yes I would, since I also collect Anime figures, and I guess other people do the same
If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??

No, I havn't, yet, but I hope to visit Japan within a couple of years - and the first places I would approach is obvious

    6. Would you go to it?
I would love going to one of it, it would be such a pleasant time, you know looking around all the cute dolls and clothes and accessories and be able to see them up close.
What would you expect to find there?
Well i dont know...maybe like mostly clothes and accessories or some dollies being displayed in a safe glass box so they wouldnt break or get stolen.
What would you want it to have?
A nice friendly and cute decoration is always a must i believe...but it would be nice to have stuff from TTYA or 9style and other more clothe companies.
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Sure as long as they respect our hobby and we respect theirs i dont think there will be any problem.
If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I havent been to a physical bjd store sadly...but maybe in the future.

    7. Would you go to it? definitely! i'd love to have one close enough to visit it would be great to be able to buy a doll and see it in real life first

What would you expect to find there?
a variety of dolls, some instock, some as samples, plus wigs, eyes, props

What would you want it to have?
see above ;) as well as a place to visit with other bjd owners, maybe a have a meetup every month or so?

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
probably would have to to make it here. i wouldn't mind bears and other collectables as long as the doll department was big enough :)

    8. Would you go to it? Yes, I'd definitely check it out!

What would you expect to find there?
Dolls from different companies, eyes, wigs, clothes, faceup/ stringing supplies.

What would you want it to have?
pretty much all of that, and maybe a room for gatherings and meetups. Perhaps a small workshop so people can learn skills like face ups?

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Sure, why not? Lots of things can be repurposed for dolls. :)

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? the only straight-up store I've been to is the Volks store in Akihabara and their store in Sannomiya. I could have gone NUTS in Sannomyia. I've also been to three Mandarakes (Akihabara, Shibuya, Nakano). I agree with a previous poster, it's unfortunate all of Mandarake's clothes are behind glass so you can't see what the outfit looks like.

    9. I would love to go into an actual store. I find it difficult sometimes to relate to the size and the quality of the doll just by looking at photos.

    10. Would you go to it? I'd be there in a heartbeat and probably set up a pup tent so I could live there.

What would you expect to find there? What would you want it to have? BJDs in all sizes (secondhand would be fine), wigs, clothing, accessories, clothing patterns, supplies for making BJDs or doing face-ups.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? Sure! I'd love to find pop collectibles from Japan, anime stuff, and the like.

    11. Definitely I will go there. I expect to find everything of course..accessories, clothes, wigs, eyes, tools..
I've been to a physical store while I'm in Japan a year ago, I saw Levi character sat in a single sofa chair inside a glass cabinet, he was really cool and I stared at him for quite a long time before I browse everything else in the store. Anyway, at that time, I haven't got my first doll yet, so I just amazed at every doll I saw :XD:

    12. Would you go to it? Yes!

What would you expect to find there? BJDs, doll clothes, shoes, accessories, parts, furniture, magazines, dolly services (repair, ordering custom dolls, etc) and other collectibles related to the hobby.

What would you want it to have? BJDs from different companies for sale, limited editions either for sale or just for show, and what I mentioned above.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too? Yes, that would be fine.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?? It was great! I went to the Volks USA showroom often with my husband and with one of my best friends as well a few times from 2007 up until they closed the physical store. I even brought my in-laws there too in hopes of converting my mother-in-law into the hobby. The first floor had other Volks products while the second floor was dedicated to their DD and SD dolls. At the physical store, you could order a custom doll, so there were sculpts and stuff there to help you figure out what your dream doll would look like. They also had available standards ranging from MSD, SD, and DD. There were clothes, shoes, eyes, wigs, magazines, various accessories, furniture, and hobby related items there (tools, paints, etc) too. Oh! And there was an area that you could do a photoshoot with your dolls if you wanted to that changed every month with a different theme to it that was pretty cool too. I actually miss going there and hope another physical store opens up soon.

    13. I'd definitely go.

I'd like to see dolls on display, individually and in large detailed dioramas that would change with the seasons. There should be a large variety of clothes, wigs, eyes. They'd offer crafting workshops every month. There'd be a dolly doctor/hospital services. Maybe there'd be a dolly meetup, too.

It'd be fine if there were other hobbies and interests as long as they were somehow related and not completely random.

I've never been to bjd shop...but I can dream.

      This was a fun exercise!

    14. I would totally go to a bjd shop if there was one in the area. That way I could look at the quality of outfits, and accessories.

    15. I'd live there if I was near one LOL. I would be ok with other hobbies the used similar materials like canvases for painting, framing for photos of dolls ect. SO I guess an Art Media or Blick art in a BJD shop lol. While we are dreaming how abut a yarn/fabric store next to it and a coffee shop in the middle with a daycare and rentable workspace LOL

    16. I went to the Volks store in Los Angeles before it closed and man was that an amazing experience!!! Something definitely to be added to a bucket list for sure haha! At the time, I still did not purchase my first bjd so seeing beautiful bjds of all sizes in real life was amazing!!!!!!

    17. That would be awesome if there was a physical BJD store near me! I'd like to be able to see the dolls and accessories in person.

The main issue I have with one of mine is shoes (she's got socks but otherwise barefoot), so I'd like to be able to see the shoes in person and try them on her feet before buying. Or if I can't try them on her feet, at least be able to take them back easily if they don't fit.

    18. I would LOVE to! It would be great to see what they have on display and in stock. It wouldn't be as extravagant as going to a web site and having a large selection to choose from, but whatever you wanted to buy, you could take home that day. Worth it.

    19. Would you go to it?
      Yes! Sounds fun!

What would you expect to find there?
Hopefully, they have some dolls in the store you can look at. Also, I hope some people bring their dolls, maybe it'd bring mine too~ I expect them to have clothing, wigs and eyes. Also, some tools for customising. : oc

What would you want it to have?
What I mentioned before ^. There's no question really covering why you'd like to go.. A physical store would be really nice because I can see the items before buying them. Like sometimes eyes look slightly different.. Also for clothing seeing the actual size might help hm.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Well if it helps them pay the rent and keep the store alive, why not.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
      Nope..

    20. Would you go to it?

YES!!!! i would love to be able to touch and see the clothes before i buy them!

What would you expect to find there?

A face-up area, so much clothing, it would be amazing

What would you want it to have?

Clothing, wigs, different furnitures and food for the correct size doll

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

Yes, i would love for there to be anime figures and other dolls! Seeing a wall full of Azones would be awesome

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??

Sadly no :( maybe one day! would love to go !
