1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Would you go to a physical BJD store?

Dec 21, 2014

    1. Omg yes I'd go there!!!!!!

    2. If there was any physical bjd/bjd accessories shop anywere closer than 300 km from my home - I would constantly be with no money for living. xD But on the other hand, it would be convenient. I always have problems with matching clothes, wigs etc. They usually look a bit different in person, compared to the photos. Physical store would solve this problem. Also, imagine amount of money saved on shipping! :D

    3. Would you go to it?
      Yes!
What would you expect to find there?
I'd honestly expect mostly clothes and accessories. I'd be interested in what they have in stock for dolls though. Seeing the doll in person vs photo usually make or breaks a purchasing decision for me.
What would you want it to have?
A constant influx of new and different dolls from different companies.
Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Sure. Video game stores sell anime related items a lot of the time, and it's actually a smart way to make some extra revenue and bring multiple people to the store.

I've been DYING to go to a physical bjd store, or any doll store in general. Japan has a ton of them, (I'm mostly referring to Volks and Azone [off topic] ), and I plan on going to one whenever I get the chance to visit Japan.

    4. I would go out of my way to go there. I'd love to find clothes, shoes, wigs, eyes, cute dolly accessories and maybe even a few dolls for sale. I would want to be able to go in with a doll and make sure things fit her before I buy, but even if that's not permitted it would be great to just be able to hold the items in person and make sure the colours match so I can coordinate an outfit.

    5. I think that would be really great, on the other hand a phsychical store would probably be more expensive to an already pretty expensive hobby, so I doubt it would be very appealing to buy stuff from there.

    6. I would luckily I live right next to one so its a lot easier to buy bjd clothes right from the shop :)

    7. I'd absolutely LOVE to go to an actual doll store... but it will likely never happen since there isn't any where I live.

    8. I would love to!!! Especially Volks store in Japan :D

    9. It would be so amazing to go to a store and actually see all the dolls~
      Waa~ it would be like a dream!:3nodding:

    10. I have been in an actual BJD store once and it was great. There were dolls, accessories, and other collectors! I would definitely go back there should I find the time, money, and ride. It was a great experience.

    11. Would you go to it?
DEFINITELY! I've gone to Japan and boy, I did not hesitate to ram through the BJD stores!

What would you expect to find there?
Mostly accessories, I guess. Though I'd assume they would also have a few dolls in stock for walk-in customers. xD

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
It's overwhelming! You wouldn't know where to look first (not that it matters because there arre BJD stuff everywhere haha).

    12. Would you go to it?
I would, but not often - a few times a year, maybe.

What would you expect to find there?
Clothes, shoes and wigs. Materials for doing face-ups. String.
BJD parts (horns, wings) and hopefully a few BJDs.

What would you want it to have?
What I want most is a knowledgeable owner who can really help with finding your way around.
One thing I'd really love for it to have is a wide range of clothes for all sizes, and a place where you can sit down and try things on.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
Sure. I'd imagine it would be very hard to keep a physical store running on just BJDs.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
I always enjoy going to a physical store. Usually I end up buying too much and overstaying my welcome. :)

    13. If you had a physical store devoted to BJD in your area:

      Would you go to it?
Yeah and I would kiss all the boy dolls

What would you expect to find there?

      Dolls and love. Mostly love.

What would you want it to have?

The love of my life that has alluded me all these years and dolls.

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?

All good things in one store...no. My heart might explode. Just kidding. Yeah this would be great.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it?

A store just for BJD no. I have been in a store with BJD but it had lots of stuff. One of the best toys stores I have been in. I'm not sure if it still exist. My ex bought me a teddy bear from there that I still have.

    14. Definitely!
I would be very happy if I could fit him the clothes / shoes before buying.

    15. Would you go to it?
Absolutely! Just out of curiosity if nothing else.

What would you expect to find there?
I would imagine that I would find it to be like Build-A-Bear, but for doll products. I think supplies for blushing/sealing/faceups, clothing, some dolls in stock, and the option to order others.

What would you want it to have?
Definitely have a place where you can pick up and look at the sculpts, and get to know the companies you're buying from. Clothes selections are a must, as are supplies!

Would you be fine with it having other hobbies in there too?
I would be okay with it! Better to entice the curious than to leave out a potential customer base.

If you have been to a physical bjd store, how was it??
      N/A

    16. Heck yesss!!! But if I did happen to find one I'd hope that it has ALL the doll bodies and ALL the doll heads (the newer and some that are old)...
I'd hope that it has huge clothing displays and bjd furniture.. Basically EVERYHING for EVERY bjd!!!

    17. Yes I would love to get to go to a brick and mortar bjd store... sadly the closest one to me is about a 9 and a half hour drive (one way) away. ...So it's sort of unlikely to happen. :pout:

    18.
    19. Yes and it would probably be a terrible sight -- for my wallet. XD

    20. I would definitely go to a BJD store (and am somewhat surprised/shocked that they are not common!)
They could have models from different doll companies that you could order from as well as a few full set dolls in different sizes for immediate purchase. Also doll parts, how -to events, and clothing/accessories. It would be very helpful to be able to visualise sizes and styles and the various levels of craftiness involved in customising processes.
As a person who has only recently learned about BJDs, it seems like there are many people who would love this hobby but have no idea that it even exists! Also, it is very intimidating to send off a not insignificant amount of money to a different country on a website without being fully aware of what will arrive in the mail weeks later.
A BJD store could help people transition to dolls as an adult hobby. Kids who start out with great memories of going to American Girl stores with their parents could anticipate growing into BJDs when they are older. It is nice to think that you don't have to grow out of your dolls when you grow up!
The only shop I know of from on-line research is in Denver. Next time I am in town, I will definitely will stop by.
